First thing you must do before starting anything in the game: turn off that sissy Smart Steering. It's ON by default.

The definitive version of MK8 indeed! I prefer this version over the emulated 4K MK8 WiiU version I've played with texture packs. Blazing though Grand Prix now, and the split JoyCon controls is a godsend!

There's some missing particle effects in Bowser's Castle, compared to the WiiU version, but almost imperceptible when you're zipping around the lava pits. I rather them keep the fast pace 60fps with sacrificing the post processing effects.

Urghhh, I hate the Excite Bike track. That NASCAR-like track makes it easy to get bombarded by shells when you're up front!

50cc completed. Low speed fun, a good refresher. Too easy.
I'm biased towards F-Zero tracks like Big Blue and Mute City. Eyes tear up when I hear those remixed music tracks. Nintendo, Day freaking Pne for me if you revive F-Zero for Switch.

The only way to play, baby. I grip my controller when playing, and split Joys give a meaty surface to grip while split. Something feels off when playing with the Grip shell. Gonna try the Pro controller at home later.

100cc halfway done. Difficulty and salt level/annoyance quickly ramps up as you climb the CCs. Made harder since I'm targeting all 1st place on all tracks on all GPs.

Just finished the second last Cup races in the LRT. While standing. In a moving vehicle. It should be easy for MK8D players since the game is about multitasking. And thinking ahead.

Holy shit, I thought I had it made, cruising so easily past 50 and 100cc. Got my ass handed to me on 150cc. It's easy to get first place point wise overall, but there's always some asshole stopping me from getting all 1s in all 4 races in a Cup.

Gold Mario. Careful though. He's heavy. Depending on your kart config, its handling won't be the same after this. Especially evident if you're playing 200cc. 150cc and below is more forgiving.

Won my first online match. It's a mad scramble and you can basically throw your smooth racing lines out of the window, it's a matter of who has what powerups that's matters more than who races smoothly. Even when I was ahead, always glancing at the map to see if anyone at the back of the pack is salty enough to unleashed the shitty blue shell or lightning.

Ohay the intro screen changed! Finishing 200cc does that.



Next up, tackling Time Trials. It's brutal....



Exactly.....0.4 seconds faster only. Haih.....

Must....drive....faster. Or is it must drive crazier? The bar has been set pretty high by Chris, that Nintendo staff. Even when kart combos are matched, there's always that split second timing that needs to tighten up.

Then back to Time Trial. Only manage to beat 12 out of 48 so far.

Had Luigi yelling, "LuigiKart 8!" On the title screen, though I'm sure that's also in the WiiU version. I basically sold my WiiU copy unopened, still shrinkwrapped.

Bwahahahah, Mario Kart also got people rage quit!!? LOL! Got booted out when the person at the front got pelted with multiple red and green shells and just on cue, a blue shell lands on him after that for the ultimate punishment. Teeheehee!
