Hi all, i plan to extend my Master bedroom further 2M out to balcony area.
Do i need to build additional footing to support extended wall? Current contractor told me existing balcony structure sufficient to support extended wall. Anyone with experience extended without add footing please share your feedback.
And in case footing is compulsory, does it cost a lot to build it? Around how much?

Get a structure architect to do all this first. If you go to Reno guys, they will tell you anything also can. If it collapsed in the future is your own fault

You need a structural engineer to do the calculation for you.
And they need your existing structure drawings.

just look at high rise pillar

small pillar can support big building

but to be safe there is calculations how much load it can support

better get an engineer to calculate

for me, i believed with current beam can support a wall and roof

The balcony beams are not designed with brick works load although they possibly can take the extras. There are other issues like excessive stress may affect the water tightness performance of the concrete flat roof, the proposed works may damage the water proofing, etc. Some light weight block works maybe a good choice here. Get the engineer of your renovation works to advise you. If you don't have one, engage one to look at this issue for you.

already extended until beam area without any issue...most people extended until pillar/footing; then extend balcony slab until parallel with gate. then you can have 2x space of master bedroom.
