getting into this cryptocurrency is really complicated for a non-IT person like myself

I need a steve job to come change the whole cryptocurrency ecosystem to be much simpler and user friendly for a non-IT person

now I am learning that ether and ETH is different and all these token stuff like ERC20?

Is there a problem with parity? I believe they made it rather straightforward these days.

If you want to mine, you got to have dedicated hardware/software and OS for the job, think you're up for it?
Don't worry, addresses aren't case sensitive
*
I need those ether tokens to send/receive transactions right?

without ethers, I can't do anything? So can I still send my purchased ETH to Mist Wallet and vice versa without ether inside it?

ok, I have the impression also that since MeW was so complicated unlike the usual registration, that I too think parity would be the same haha

I will try download parity tonight and try

Okay in order to avoid confusion, let's stick with ETH. To do anything on Ethereum blockchain, like transfer value, execute contract, etc. you have to pay gas(transaction fee) to the miners who'll be processing it for you.

So if you have ETH sitting on the exchanges, simply set a receiving address and amount to withdraw and the exchange will deduct a very tiny amount of ETH to pay for the fee.

https://ethgasstation.info currently shows that you'll only have to pay $0.005 if you set gas price to 4Gwei and wait a couple of minutes.

I wouldn't call MEW complicated at all.
You do your thorough research, subscribe to their mailing list. And wait for the token sale day itself.

With each ETH sent to their contract, they'll return you with the equivalent amount of tokens according to their exchange rates.

We got quite a few this month, Bancor, SNM, Status, OAX, OMG, Adchain and TenX.
*
ahhh so without ether in my MIST wallet, it would just eat my ETH in equivalent amount to ether.

noted

MEW isnt complicated once u know how it is done. it isnt the usual way for me, like copy address from platform to platform to transfer and the way how to login.

Im so tempted to pull the trigger on buying ETH and BTC now... still hoping to see some corrections like 30%

Well, think of it this way.
When bitcoin first reached USD 1.00, everyone was commenting on how "expensive" it was at that time, because they remembered the time when it was still trading at USD 0.01.
Those people said the same thing when bitcoin reached USD 100, because they remembered the time when it was only USD 1.00.
Instead of waiting for the price to come down by 10% or 20%, why not just buy now and hold it for a while, and aim for 10000% profit instead?
The best time to invest in bitcoin was in 2009.
The second best time is NOW.
It depends on you, really.
I have all my ETH in one single address, then I subsequently opened up a few other addresses, each holding a single type of coin.

I always give the same advice for crypto, if you have RM1000 a month to buy in, buy RM500 immediately and standby the other half during a dip. That way you don't need to have to deal with FOMO behavior.
I spilt to different Nano S and recently to an offline paper wallet, it's very tedious the first time round, but good education on security!
Remember we can join ICOs with our Nano S through Parity node, need to turn off browser support first for it to appear.

Better not use MEW for everything, let newbies enjoy a lag free experience!

hi WooTz

do update us on ICOs and the upcomings

I wanna try my hand on it and experience it especially when the buy is crashed by the sudden influx of potential buyers

this happens especially on the day of hype YEEZY shoe release

ICOs usually reveal their contract address during the final 24 hour before it starts, just subscribe to their mailing list and hang tight.

MEW is an interface to manage your ethereum addresses

you mean your wallet right? what's etherscan saying? no entry at all?

for coinbase it's instant, 1 minute the latest
*
i created a new address

yesterday was less than a minute

today took 40minutes to be transferred!

just checked. transaction went through
