QUOTE(aspartame @ Mar 9 2017, 10:41 PM) Thanks for opinion but I do not believe in avoiding heaty stuff at all. Food is food. Thrre is no such thing as heaty or not heaty, to me at least and I do not find correlation with food at all. Me too. I don't see the connection. I have never experienced any sore throats as a result of eating fried food or chocolate like what old ppl always said. Instead, what I've experienced is that the sore throat is always due to a viral infection as what the websites said (the websites I shared earlier). It's a dangerous thing to believe that heaty food could lead to those sore throat and cough because they might spread infection without realising it thinking it's not infectious.

Ya, smoking is generally very bad for healtlh. Just hard to quit when you have friends puffing away and chatting. I need to convince myself enough by reading all about the bad things about smoking to quit and I believe I am doing it very soon. Thanks.

It takes at most 10 minutes to eat an ice cream , so whatever relief it provides is shortlived and i am not about to eat ice cream every 10 minutes for 1 week! anyway, sore throat does not bother me that much. It is the accompanying lethargy, runny nose, groggy eyes, feverish feeling, achy and later stage cough that lingers (this disturbs sleep a lot because you cannot cough and sleep at the same time). Therefore I am looking at how to reduce the frequency of coming down with flu and cold in order to increase my quality time.

Interesting to note that only 10% are of bacterial origin which means most of the time antibiotics are not needed as the causes are mostly viral both in cold and flu unless secondary infection sets in.
