I have a few Thermos products, love them.

If you want to keep your drink cold or hot for very long time, make sure the flask is "vacuum" insulated. Not only double walled. It should be stated on the product. If not, don't buy.

A lot of of cheaper flasks are either using only double walled or foam insulation. Even lower ranges Thermos are foam insulated. So choose carefully.

Now some Thermos products are made in China, as long as it is "vacuum" insulated, it is good.

Hi thanks for your input. That is a very valuable advice re:vacuum.
Thankfully the Thermos that I am eying is vacuum insulated.

Yeah, I don't think there would be much of a difference between China and Malaysia unlike Japan or a developed Western country.

Invented in 1892 by Sir James Dewar, a scientist at Oxford University, the "vacuum flask" was not manufactured for commercial use until 1904, when two German glass blowers formed Thermos GmbH. They held a contest to name the "vacuum flask" and a resident of Munich submitted "Thermos", which came from the Greek word "Therme" meaning "hot".

So far 3 thermos that I buy (2 tumbler and 1 mug) is from Malaysia.

Do not buy from china. Their price are more higher. When I shop in shenzhen.
*
How long have you been using them?
So none of the Thermos bought in Malaysia will be from other countries other than Malaysia or China?

Zojirushi is better than Tiger and Thermos.
*
Because it's made from japan?
I would believe so too as I believe that products made in Japan are of higher quality due to their workmanship and quality control.

I went through their products however they don't have any bottle with a pouch. Therefore it's out.
This is the closest they have but I am not a fan of this type. I prefer a pouch.

Hi. Thanks for your input. I saw this too online and in iSetan yestarday.
I don't really know why this line of ThermosCafe is cheaper than the normal Thermos.

Go to Aeon buy.

Sometime got offer very cheap.
*
There is no offer in Aeon at the moment. But I only saw Thermos and La GOurmet.
At Parkson they have Thermos only and they do have 20% offer.
At iSetan they have Tiger and Thermos but only an offer for the latter.
Tiger is RM279 for the same type and size as Thermos although it's only made in China.
So at this point, I feel like if I were to splurge, it'll be on Thermos.

Not necessarily made in Japan, but even their made in China ones are good. You can't really get many choices here. If you have friends or relatives visiting Japan, best to ask them to hand carry one back for you. I have one Thermos and Tiger before I got my Zojirushi. The Zojirushi one is the best among them.
*
Thanks but I don't have friends or relatives visiting Japan.
I do have clients that do visit Japan frequently for business trips but I don't think it's appropriate for me to ask them blush.gif

Get vacuum insulated thermos. Vacuum insulation greatly reduce heat transfer.

Thanks. Yup. Got that. Somebody mentioned it earlier.

1 of the thermos flask that I have (Hydration) is clearly marketed for Japan as the box is full of Japanese with little English. And guess what, the bottle is made in China lol.
*
Tiger is made in China.
I was at iSetan yesterday and open the drawer to look for the boxes since there was absolutely no sales assistants on the floor in the kitchen department.
Box was full of Japanese writings but it says made in China.

Hi there,

May I know which one you ended up buying? A little bit of review would help me in my decision making smile.gif  Thanks.

Hi there. I bought the THermos FFZ 1.5l in the end.
Was always checking the prices on Thermos every month to see if they have discounts and also other online stores but nothing.
Went to Japan and saw it for under RM100 for the 1.5l bottle and quickly ordered it. The item arrived 1 day late and even arrived later than the scheduled time. Left my AirBnB house 1+ after check out and walked to the train station.

Sure enough jsut before I hit the main road I bumped into the delivery lady and she quickly gave me my bottle. I asked her the day before for the bottle hence she knew exactly what I want from her.

I guess that is why I love this bottle so much now. hehe.

Anyways, it is good but the ice cubes being able to stay intact for hours is not true. Other than that, no complaints at all. Worth every RM80-90 whatever it was. Not sure if I would spend RM185 (in Msia) though.

I also bought a smaller size 0.8l for my little sister. I originally wanted to buy the dual cup so that she can use it for hot drinks and cold drinks for school but they didn't have the model that she wanted so I just bought the cold one. My gf went to Japan again after that trip so I thought of ordering the cap for hot drink. Luckily I checked with thermos beforehand whether the opening are of the same size and be able to interchange it. Unfortunately for me, it is not.

So if you have a friend going to Japan or you yourself are going anytime soon, then just order it in Japan.
