Hello peeps! I have just secured an offer to move to Sg in 2 weeks. What is your suggestion or referral with a budget of $800 including utility?
Do you think it is possible to rent in Central area (Tanjong Pagar, Chinatown or Little India) at this rate?

I have only started my search today and was surprised to find most rental site at min 1k excluding pub in Central or 800 at a distance of 1 hour away..

The rental price also affected by location and gender and room availability.
Easier to rent anywhere as a female (note the female environment tags) and IF you don't mind staying with owner.

It will take awhile to hunt for right place right location and looser house rules that fits the right budget and not being insanely far from work.
Don't because of 50-100 bucks you make your life difficult by renting at the far sides (long commute is another thing you will hate); plus check bus availability and interval (NOT ALL PLACES in SG have excellent bus connectivity that I don't even bother looking at timetable coz 3 routes all can go to work)
Superb locations in Serangoon also listing for 1.1k nowadays..
In general no need to fully limit oneself to rail network.

My office is NE, I also rent in Serangoon ($900 all inclusive) coz excellent connectivity by bus -
but locals tell me because of that and the proximity to NEX I pay more than usual
Apply more. 300.
What job are you looking for?
LI is the way.
Else, also check out MCF portal for those jobs they have trouble filling up.
You are the traffic, cannot complain sia rclxs0.gif

Thank you! What's NEX and do you find Serangoon a good area to live other than connectivity?

Yeah further northeast for more savings
I stay near Hougang, a few bus stops away from the MRT. The area around be should be cheaper than where you're at
*
Thanks and how do you find Hougang as a whole? A quick Google shows it's mostly private residential homes and bungalows so will the living cost higher than other home-hunters areas?

Guys, do I need to get Tax Clearance letter from LHDN myself? I have done many rounds of searches on lowyat and google but no similar case to my own

How do I proceed with the Tax Clearance if I
1. had left employment since mid Mar
2. Per tax table, my gross annual salary of 3 months doesn't warrant any tax deduction
3. but my ex-employer had helped to deduct my tax in the 3 months

If I must perform tax clearance, do I need to nudge my ex-employer to do this or handle myself?
if I don't have to, does it mean I will wait until 2023 to perform normal tax filing and claim back ?

Normally your employer will hold your last salary payment until you have done LHDN tax clearance (done by yourself). Once you have the tax amount from LHDN, you need to notify your employer for them to make payment and the balance will return to your account.

Thanks but I've resigned in mid Mar. No question about holding salary or balance repayment by ex-employer

My enquiry is about necessity and steps to do tax clearance without troubling ex-employer.

I'm not sure if it has changed over the last 7-10 years but iirc your last employer needs to fill up a form for LHDN to state that you left your job with them and going abroad.
Someone from LHDN will contact/email you to verify and then clear you.

Did you inform your past employer that you were leaving to work abroad?
*
Thanks but my ex employer didn't respond to my enquiry. Not even to confirm if they have filed CP21 which is for the purpose of declaring employee's resignation or leaving Malaysia indefinitely.

My dude.whilst you were working with your ex company, If you informed the HR that you were leaving them to come Sg to work they would have submitted that cp21 for you.

You can also self submit now per h/www.hasil.gov.my/en/employers/termi...ion-of-service/

Form CP21 can be submitted either online via e-SPC or at the IRBM office which handles the employee’s income tax number

I left then in Mar without any offer so this isn't an option, as I've repeatedly answered. I have called and emailed LHDN for a week and will wait for their response instead for a more accurate response

I think you are overly concern of problem that is not going to bite you. I don't know any cases where LHDN go the extra length to chase M'sian that's left for work overseas. I for instance left my job for SG more than 10 years ago without any declaration, and now back to work in MY again, continue paying tax to Malaysian government...no big deal seriously

Why don't you look ahead instead of the past - think of how you can integrate into new society, fit into new company culture, how to be productive, etc...

This is to get back my tax money too. anyway I've called the LHDN and they guided me to do the self submission
