Don't because of 50-100 bucks you make your life difficult by renting at the far sides (long commute is another thing you will hate); plus check bus availability and interval (NOT ALL PLACES in SG have excellent bus connectivity that I don't even bother looking at timetable coz 3 routes all can go to work)

I stay near Hougang, a few bus stops away from the MRT. The area around be should be cheaper than where you're at

Normally your employer will hold your last salary payment until you have done LHDN tax clearance (done by yourself). Once you have the tax amount from LHDN, you need to notify your employer for them to make payment and the balance will return to your account.

I'm not sure if it has changed over the last 7-10 years but iirc your last employer needs to fill up a form for LHDN to state that you left your job with them and going abroad.
Someone from LHDN will contact/email you to verify and then clear you.

My dude.whilst you were working with your ex company, If you informed the HR that you were leaving them to come Sg to work they would have submitted that cp21 for you.

Form CP21 can be submitted either online via e-SPC or at the IRBM office which handles the employee’s income tax number

I think you are overly concern of problem that is not going to bite you. I don't know any cases where LHDN go the extra length to chase M'sian that's left for work overseas. I for instance left my job for SG more than 10 years ago without any declaration, and now back to work in MY again, continue paying tax to Malaysian government...no big deal seriously

Why don't you look ahead instead of the past - think of how you can integrate into new society, fit into new company culture, how to be productive, etc...
