Whichever u like bro, your definition of 'live comfortable' what u think. If anyone that like to rent a room (can't even afford small house) and travel overseas, buy anything they please, sure go ahead. I cannot brain how renting a room vs. owning private condo is better live comfortable - as you like bro.
political consideration aside like what I mentioned earlier, and without considering career progression what the poster said.
u do know that PR (spouse) can buy HDB right ? 2 bedroom HDB cost 300K and above depend on location, so is not all about renting room. 4K salary for 300K house totally manageable, compare to 500K condo + 100K car on 7.5k salary.
Is ok, no need to get so defensive, i am just pointing out the fact how other people live nowadays, especially youngster, they prefer to live in small house (not rent room) and spent the rest doing what they like to do. Their logic is simply, house is for them to stay, as long is comfortable, that is good enough, A big house they cant do much in it also, they prefer instead to use those money for travelling with fren and family to have great memory/experience. I cant argue with that, when u meet those ppl and hear about their life seem more interesting.
I am renting in SG, but i have landed house and car in JB paid for my folks. I was once on the same thinking need a big house or car, but now i would choose to bring parent to oversea more often as they are getting older. Of course will require to buy a house when get married, but same logic, comfortable is enough, no need to stay until 6 room HDB or condo. Prefer to have more saving for kids and spend comfortably on thing, rather than tight on budget due to loan.
cheers~~~

It's all subjective, no right or wrong so no point arguing like that
Personally if my salary was fixed for life I'd choose to be in Malaysia with RM7.5k rather than in Singapore for S$4k
But you must be really pessimistic to expect no progression in your career at all
And the numbers are not really fair, I don't think a position getting RM7.5k will only command S$4k in Singapore
ya unlikely scenario, most come SG first and foremost is looking for better pay, if the offer is current RM 7.5k to SGD 4k (which is not really good) then the only reason will make the switch is because of better future potential pay. But we are just replying base on poster assumption.
