Then 1 year later when doing spring cleaning the cleaner lady saw it and put it back on the main stack? Too busy never watch drama now isit? Or forget how gahmen service in Malaysia work isit?

Simisai is UTAR dan MMU to SG? Its like discussing you should have gotten Honda instead of Toyota to win the PR race, but the whole street is full of BMW and Mercz here, sometime F1 also inside.

Today I heard of a case where a first generation PR couple applied PR for their children to enjoy the PR benefits, but come the age for the son to do NS, the son renounce his PR to avoid NS

SG gov banned that son from coming back to Singapore. Parents are lonely here

Got alot. Just google NS defaulters and all sorts of stories pop up.

One was really sad. His msian parents 1st generation PR, he grow up entirely in SG. But because his parents sent him to UK to further his studies, he never completed NS. End up, he was never allowed to return to SG again.
He try to write letter to sg government. Their reply was come back and serve jail time and do NS after jail sentence.
2nd generation PR also like that..

The son now is working and living in KL. Parents still live in SG. Really sad story.

My ex boss son also same case. An NS defaulter, can never return to SG again. Imagine, your father runs a successful multimillion dollar company in sg, yet he can never take over  the business and lives in exile.
*
The parents should know what they doing what. Cannot take the PR benefit during young time and don't want pay back. The PR benefits funded by our tax you know. When my parents applied for PR, they did not include my brother as dependent PR, cause he was around 16 that time and never enjoy any benefit from SG but have to serve NS if he was a 2nd gen PR. My son also on LTVP, can't get into good gahmen school for sure, more expensive but its good to give the kids option to choose if the parents can afford it.

HR normally will interview together with the department in charge.

dun think HR can hired ppl directly.

normally HR will select a few. department in charge will have the final said.
*
There. If the HR biased in choosing then suck thumb. I heard one is the department head expecting a CV from a friend. But never see. Ask the HR say never receive. All the chosen less competent.

How long for the Ep or SP being approved? I noticed it take shorter time (up to 10 days) although it mentioned up to 3 weeks on the website. The HR help me to apply EP pass on 10 November 2017. I haven receive the news thou.

Since I'm fresh graduate and work as a design consultant in Singapore, my salary income is approximately 3k++ sgd (which lower than 3.6k sgd requirement. Is it still allowable to apply for the EP pass? Thanks
*
Just try EP first. Design consultant always lowly paid. My other half started with 1.8k and got PR.

Actually it is not what field u are in, but how good u are.
Comparing different field is another wrong way of benchmarking because u can think how good is your field but surely there is another field is better than yours.
Position and title mean nothing, it is all about how much u are paid for the job.
Even I am not expert in your field, but sorry to say this "talent" u mentioned can be found in most part of the street on this tiny island.
I have seen fresh grads earn close to 120k p.a. and it is no surprise to me. Some can even earn more than 250k p.a. with bonus included with 2 years experience. Am I bluffing? No.. these are very common in IB..
Lol yea no need to show us.. U dont have to prove how much u earn but if u are coming, well congrats on your new job..
*
Ish true. TV also showing now. Annual salary over 1 million usd I bankah.

I doubt any of us here are willing to die for Singapore nor for Malaysia, especially not having gone through any military training (or indoctrination)

But then again how many civilians are truly willing, even in past wars?
There's a reason why conscripts are jailed if they refuse, and not left to everyone's free will to choose whether to join or not

What happen if Singapore PR fighting war with the home country of the PR, both country have NS and call back for duty. Fight for who?

QUOTE(WallChecker @ Jan 13 2018, 10:56 PM)
I saw some discussion on salary and cost of living in Singapore.
On salary part, please don't use or ask people whether it is 1:1 or whatever. This is very bias comparison. Not everyone are paid the same in Msia, especially different locations where some have come from KL, Penang, Melaka and JB. U can definitely use 1:1 for your own comparison to gauge your risk and financial planning.
Same uni, same field, same specialization, same years of working experience doesn't mean each individual are getting paid about the same. Considering nature of biz, size of company, line manager/management and location (KL, Penang or JB) make huge different to individual's salary.
One Accountant in KL that earns RM8k doesn't mean every Accountant with same profile earn RM8k, and different locations with lower cost of living contributed to lower salary compared to KL.
U can earn RM8k in KL and offered SGD9k and telling people that u get salary increases even coming to SG. Maybe someone at your peers level or same profile as u are already earning RM10k and come to SG being offered SGD9k.

So please use salary benchmark to compare or use available market data to make comparison, Glassdoor is one of source u can go to. If u are too lazy to do your homework, then u should consider to stay put until u have the motivation to do your homework to come SG for work.

Cost of living in SG is definitely higher than KL/MY (This is assuming that u plan to settle down in SG, buy house, have kids and so on)
If u plan to live in JB or short term in SG then cost of living is not an issue for u. Work hard, save hard and go back.
Why I said SG is more expensive,
1) House (U can argue it is same price in KL or JB, but do u get same salary paid in SG?) U can buy new private unit condo 1000sqft in KL with RM650k, but can u buy private condo in SG with SGD650k?
2) Transport (If u are single, sure no problem. If u are married with small kids, then without car can be really troublesome) Kids need to go to school, emergency to clinic/hospital, grocers for family etc.
3) Insurance and medical (self-explanatory)

But if u plan to stay JB and work in SG for few years then go back to Malaysia, why do u want to make comparison? U already making 3 times more then your peers/friends in Malaysia (Assuming u get same salary in SG, and when the time u go back FX is still the same lol).
*
Me now in back home town. Company offer me 4 digit rm pay nia compare to 5 digit sgd pay. With me this logic people should ask for more than 1:1 already. Me mid age unemployed house wife waiting depression.

Me house in SG one time renovation 500k sgd cash term. Me dont know how it possible for working middle class. Me no make it in SG. Condo dog no place run get moody bark at night neighbour complain. Downgrade HDB cannot. Go back MY me jobless.

Need to consider long term also not just 1 year can save how much then convert back seems big. May lose out on opportunity and networks compared to your friends back home, beside the lost of time with your family.
