2023. Renewed once. Renewal criteria just based on experience, the real one no people know as they don't publish. Its expensive maintaining it but who knows one day we will migrate back  wub.gif .

When did you retire? You've been remain "employed in SG" all along? Last year gov notified all agencies to stop charging me PR contribution like medical insurance cry.gif I guess it would be harder for me to go back

Which part doesn't make sense?
It's just the proof of employment that you can request from HR.
Usually states your salary, your start date, your position.

My guess is that #3 simply means applicant has to prepare a letter indicating they are currently employed with the company (with some employment details), then let their HR to sign and acknowledge/certify. So... could someone share their experience under what situation HR refuses to sign EP152 form but OK to sign the letter?

If memory serves me correctly, I didn't even tell HR about my PR application (I think ICA/MOM did notify employer), and straight submit proof #1, #2 without #3, when I applied many years ago. This could be risky though, better don't follow what I did hmm.gif .

Thanks for sharing the official link smile.gif

@Everyone
Need help to clarify my understanding on the official announcement docs... I have very limited experience dealing with Malaysia income tax. TIA.

QUOTE
Does "pemastautin Malaysia" refer to resident or tax resident?

QUOTE
Old incomes earned between 2019-2021 also subjects to this tax? Besides that, how do we prove our saving is generated from which year's income?

Answering my own question... the term refers to Malaysian resident. In most cases, residents are also classified as tax residents.

Anyway, better contact LHDN to confirm if your scenario is subject to this new rule.

... Please take note that you will working with Indian most of the time, think twice.

Mind to share your concern if many colleagues are Indian?

For tech jobs in SG, especially software development related jobs in large org, having many Indian colleagues are common right?

I have some bad experience with Indian from India, especially male. Most of the Indian female i met is very responsible, hardworking and friendly person.
If you work with those who work as contractor from agencies/supplier such as IxxxSys, the possibility to met a good person is very low (From my experience), if you work with those who remote from India, it will be even worse.
They have very good education and any years of experience in their CV but the quality is opposite, the attitude also CMI.

FYI, some company doesn't recruiter much Indian, such as my current company (only 1 Indian so far)  brows.gif

I'm surprised. Which country is your company from? Company in tech sector?

Which industries are the chill ones?  unsure.gif

I would say it depends on management culture of the company or your team.

Used to work as engineer with a US tech company in SG and got chance to work in 3 out of 4 different product divisions in SG:
- Division A: beyond 8 hrs a day is neither rare nor frequent.
- Division B: beyond 8 hrs a day is rare.
- Division C: pretty often we worked 10-11 hrs for two to three days randomly, out of the 5 days/week, so can't tell which day we will be free after office hour. sweat.gif We had a joke in the division, we don't have the concept of peak season/month, instead each year we have three months of non-peak season when we seldom work after office hour.

From my conversations with those managers, their views about employee working hours are quite different among themselves.

well, i work 15days/month tops. pretty good work-life management i think, lots of free time do my own stuff.
great work place, free sheltered parking, subsidised food at cafeteria, salary enough to survive, etc etc.

i believed there are much better working conditions out there. smile.gif

I received application invitation from "senior" HR for Garena's management associate programme. Checked salary 5k SGD looks enticing.

Not sure if management associate is considered "backend"?

Any reason as to why need to avoid those 2 places?
*
What VinluV means by "frontend/backend" is related to IT software development jobs.

Recently many tech companies around the world started hiring freeze, major retrenchment, or business downsizing. I believe that's the reason VinluV suggests to stay cautious with tech companies for the moment. I believe Sea/Garena/Shopee is one of them. Try to search online to see if there's any news related to your interested company.

QUOTE(tolongking @ Oct 21 2022, 11:44 AM)
would you choose australia over singapore? ive cleared a few rounds of interviews and was about to receive a job offer in singapore but my recruiter told me to consider working in australia instead cos they can no longer hire in SG.

i don't mind to relocate but is it easy to get a work permit? assuming the same package but taxes is much higher in AU and without 17% employer contribution in EPF/CPF right? As such I'm getting much lesser than SG?

about which city.. this is where it's nuts. this is a 100% remote role so where i stay don't matter. i feel sg or au is a trivial -- maybe this is a soft rejection. anyway no final offer made yet but i'm just weighing the pros and cons.
*
Since 100% remote, work in Malaysia, receive salary in AUD, pay double tax, spend AUD net income in Malaysia... I wonder will this work hmm.gif especially the net savings

not sure if these have been asked before. But in your current opinion, what you all think of contract jobs? I am in the tech industry and it is so common. My main concern is the job security as from what I heard normally if retrenchment, contractors are to go away first.
*
For typical kind of developer jobs, I can't think of any advantage contractor has over permanent position. The latter is better in all aspects I aware of, at least for those well funded tech companies in SG.
