Depends on department leh. Manage money, manage people, manage computer, manage cleanliness, manage pantry food. I used to manage assets such as table and chair, small potato small salary, so miss the free food and coffee from pantry. There are few high roller bankers here better ask them.

I think I recall someone here sharing that their REP got renewed while they were not in Singapore, but only for a shorter period of time (2 years i think)
*
Mine was renewed after I moved back. You need to be employed by SG based company and they post you to Malaysia for work. Being in Malaysia unemployed or not working for SG company has less chance for REP renewal. They will consider why you need the PR if you are not working in SG already. There are quota for total number of PR and continue giving to one who don't need it already is unfair for those who are applying.

SGD6500 is an Expat pay in Malaysia, Indo, Thailand, VN etc but definitely not Singapore.  To be considered  expat, total package has to be at least SGD300K per annum.....at SGD200K, that expat will not be able to afford international school fee for his kid(s), condo, car and travel to home country.....

Wah people now getting 300k per year so envy drool.gif

Why you all keep meeting such bosses? I resigned shortly after my paid sabbatical year and maternity leave which seems like a total rip off to the company and still in good terms with my ex boss.

Working in Singapore and traveling back to KL every weekend. Is this arrangement popular with Malaysian working in Singapore?

I am working for Singaporean company in KL, intending to transfer to Singapore HQ in the future (after pandemic ended). I've checked this forum but not many talk about this arrangement. Can anyone please share your insight & advise on this?
*
Quite common especially those with family back home. Had been doing that since school time, go home weekly. Friday flight back to my hometown latest was Friday afternoon, management trainee time nego for one month twice early knock off, then annual leave for the rest. After become old snake in the office, whole Friday MIA, took the morning flight back home. Will notice some familiar faces always on the same flight.

It was something that I heard from my friend whom is a PR that you will need a job in order for the renewal to be successful. Maybe if someone who is a PR can further clarify?

2023. Renewed once. Renewal criteria just based on experience, the real one no people know as they don't publish. Its expensive maintaining it but who knows one day we will migrate back wub.gif .

why u against, mind to elaborate more. If it is because of monetary, being a PR will be more than enough. SG is better overall, if you talk about economy, education , environment, and more including many tiny matters like the experience you get when go to bank, government office, order mac d, etc.... and how government deals with problems in the country. MYR keep on depreciating, very soon even go thailand travel also will feel the pressure already.
*
Try talk to the locals and see if you can accept what they facing or not before becoming one. The grass not always greener at the other side. Every person has their own preference, no right no wrong, just follow what suit you and not others telling you which is better based on their circumstances. I particularly moved back Malaysia for the education and environment for the kids. Kids happier here with better childhood memories and I can afford to stay home with them.

Cooking is waste of time and money i feel.
Outside 1 chicken rice only 3.5$, cai fan 1 meat 2 veg also 3.5$. Dtinks also cheap, kopi/teh only 1.1 or 1.2$.

Its more convenient and cheaper to eat out instead.
when u renting room, most probably got to share fridge space and cooking in kitchen also have to see if landlord allow.

QUOTE(LinkZ @ Feb 28 2022, 06:15 PM)
Guys, need ur opinion, ive been working in SG for quite a number of years as an EP, and im in my early 30s now.

Im evaluating whether to relocate to KL or stay in SG and apply for PR. Reason why im thinking is of course be connected to our parents as theyre getting older, live a much more quality life (car, malaysia geographical size/space, house size and more) and of course im planning for a baby as well soon, which means without all those things its going to be inflexible to me.

That being said, Im thinking if i were to relocate to KL, and they can pay me somehow close to equivalent of what Im earning in SGD, then i’d definitely make my way there. Also KL may also be less competitive than SG in terms of talents , etc and it may be faster for me to climb my ranks there, me myself is in within the senior exec role already in SG… i know for a fact SG have a lot of FTs with highly qualified individuals and very smart people there.

But one of my close friend asked me to stay put and apply for PR first before making any choice to go back because it may be harder for me to go back to SG and apply for PR in the future.

Now im wondering if I should apply for PR first then move back or what? But if im not mistaken, PR have to stay for a number of years in SG to maintain it otherwise it’ll be revoked.

Im earning like 200k sgd per year and im afraid malaysia market may find it difficult to match it as much but i dont mind to sacrifice ‘abit’, and I’ll give it a shot… thinking my industry may be able to level it closely…

I still plan to go back to SG one day once my kids grown up a little.

Whats your thought? What will u do if u were me?

Thanks guys!
*
We went back to MY after spending more than 10 years in SG. Mainly for parents and the kids. Both our parents getting old, for the kids we prefer less stressful childhood for them. Career wise hubby can support the whole family and I whack the kids at home hehe, while in SG we both need to be working. I like both places, each has their own good and bad.

For PR renewal there is no official statement that you need to stay for a number of years, just that you need to contribute SG. PR has quota, if the old one not revoked, no quota for new PR, so they will remove those that are not contributing anymore. My parents still maintain their PR but siblings got called to interview when they renew theirs. Renewal criteria change time to time so never know about the future how it goes.

We plan to go back if the kids can get into JC or Uni. Still maintain the house there. But mostly won't grow old there, its very expensive.

Thanks for sharing! How does the earnings transition from SGD to MYR affects you and your husband after spending like a decade in Singapore? I have applied for the PR regardless, my thinking is that I can't wait for the KL opportunities to come by only then I'll make decision so I plan and wait concurrently. If the PR approves in time then it'd be perfect for me.
RM500k-600k... sad.gif dont mind to have slight reduction.

Transition is not good but happier life for us and the kids. We move back to hometown not much high paying job here but can survive. Got rice eat rice, got porridge eat porridge biggrin.gif .

And your sibling kidnap the the car tax exemption from you and pass you their old car cry.gif .
