well im not really sure ...cos the guy say when strumming on humbuckers its very heavy so its not nice ....then he say can switch the humbucker to single coil

humbuckers like this can switch to use single coil.... hmm.gif
(......)
(......)

and humbuckers like this cannot rclxub.gif

I......I
I___ I

i know LP doesnt have H-S-H and S-S-H... just saying i want something tht looks like LP

I dont quite follow the "diagram" above. blink.gif blush.gif

My washburn is H-H, and "supposedly" can coil tap, ie change to single p/u via the push-pull pot.
What I mean by "supposedly" is that the standard neck humbucker is not a 4 conductor wire (I think), hence cannot. But I plan to get and install a Seymour Duncan '59 humbucker with 4 conductor wire. Then I can get a REAL single pickup sound

no...not only for looks ..dude but i do love a LP look..

anyway i just went to bentlys today , lots of ibanez but dint interest me and ive decided to go for the Godin SD guitar ( 1800 ) ...cos of its versatility and  aparently quite good reviews on ultimate-guitar.com

http://www.godinguitars.com/godinperfseriesp.htm

its gonna go with roland cube 20X ..do you think its a good buy

Have you tried handling and auditioning the Godin?

How does it feel? comfortable? Size, shape, cutting ?
Hows the weight?
Hows the neck feel? (its a 12" radius fingerboard)
Is it bolt-on, bolt-in, set-neck, etc?
Hows the sustain?
Hows the frets? Easily accessible?
Hows the trem?
Hows the tone?
Hows the looks, finishes,... etc
The SD is a 24.75" scale guitar. Do you prefer it over 25.5"? Maybe feel no different smile.gif

Just few things you can consider knowing

Interested to know your personal opinion smile.gif
Appreciate if you could share.

nb: on neck construction, can read info from http://www.edromanguitars.com/tech/neckconstruction.htm

(nb: the view and opinion on neck constructions are of ed romans personal view. Others may not share the same view)

yea i tried it out in the shop...

- its real comefortable for me ( maybe cos i play a big ass acoustic so..)
- pretty light compared to epiphone
- i play an acoustic with a thick neck so the godin neck was fine
- its bolt on ( so can change the neck if it breaks )
- sound quality was good for me...got the sound im looking for
- it looks like a fender tele mixed with abit of Lp ( yum )

only complaints is tht its H-S-S , i wanted a H-S-H

but i think there is another model 'godin sdxt' which has H-S-H

Added on March 4, 2007, 3:24 pmops sorry the neck is bolted in

Looks like you've done quite a deal of homework researching on your next-on-the-to-buy-list guitar smile.gif. You've pretty much have nailed what you basically looking for

A few more "things" you can consider

Have you tried strapping the goding and playing with it standing? (did you try playing with it standing or sitting? might want to try playing while standing). How does the guitar feel playing standing...

Tried yanking on the wammy bar? How does the Godin stand from abuse on the wammy bar? Still in tune? biggrin.gif

Hows the tone? What pickups is the godin using? For cheap/not-so-expensive guitars, I would say usually the stock pickups sound not great. You might want to research and consider finding what kind of pickup replacement when you are ready to "upgrade" your goding. (active or passive, brand, model...etc)

Maybe other forummers can chip in their thoughts on what else you can consider.

Just my $0.02
