Not sifu but actually I'm also looking for UPS myself lol
Checked around google and most say that you need UPS if you have "bad" electricity where you get power shortage here and there
Also UPS can at least give you time to shut down your computer (like laptop) so your work/game/whatever can be saved
*
Do we have bad electricity in msia? Blackouts are less frequent even though can still happen sometime.
Any models you recommend?

Planning on partial upgrade of my pc. Would love to know your inputs.

[B][Budget] RM4000

[Purpose] Gaming while watching stream/youtube/twitch on second monitor, excel work, etc

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, keyboard, mouse, psu, gpu, hdds and ssd (filled)

[Monitor resolution] 1080 (2 monitors)

[Games & softwares that use frequently] multiplayer fps games (maybe COD)

[Location] KL. Will buy at shop (but hopefully thru lazada/shopee) since I am cautious about after sales services.

[Personal preferences]
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x
Motherboard: Asus b450 f gaming
GPU: reusing 1060
RAM: trident z neo 3600 c16
SSD: samsung 970 evo plus 1 tb
HDD: reusing old hdds
PSU: reusing 750 seasonic gold
Chassis: reusing phanteks enthoo pro
Cooler: stock cooler maybe upgrading to aio in future

Choosing 3700x as I want it to last as long as my old i5-3470, from 2013 till now.

Also, how is windows key working right now? Do I need to purchase a new one with this upgrade? 11/11 or black friday?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also planning on buying extra ram for laptop, can I just stick in 4 gb ram in there? Currently have 4 gb ram ddr4.

Asus B450F is one of the worst. MSI B450 Tomahawk Max has better VRM. Samsung SSD (RM1199 for 1TB) is extremely overpriced. You can get double the space with Adata SX8200 Pro or Corsair MP510 (if you want insane TBW but less performance).

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - 1399
MSI B450 Tomahawk Max - 509
G.Skill TridentZ Neo 16GB DDR4-3600 kit - 489
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB - 645

I thought last time msi b450s have a lot of trouble with the new 3000 series? Settled already? Yeah I'm seeing a lot of cheaper, almost half the price of 970 evo plus, nvme ssds. Any reason why it's half the price? There are some even cheaper than sx8200 pro also (from searching at lazada)

Just to confirm, m.2 will take up 2 sata slots for the mobo right? Meaning only 4 sata left?

Hi guys. Thinking of getting a 4tb hdd. Kinda confused with all the offerings today. Can recommend me brand and model? Normal pc usage, maybe some games, mostly just for data storage.

Is toshiba x300 4tb a good option for hard discs and at a good price right now? Main purpose will be for backup plus maybe installing some games.

More than enough. Even 300W could power it.

Any recommended brands/models? PC would be used for media (youtube, movies) connected to TV.
I'm basing off this list,
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psu...r-list-rev-148/
still up to date?

Palit RTX 3080 12GB at RM4098. Thats the issue. 2GB VRAM is more future proof. 12GB version also slightly more powerful.

Saw some was listed around 3k, is the difference between the 10gb and 12 gb that big?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this.
My previous CPU was 3700x and I rma'ed it. The shop says it can either replace the cpu or give a full refund. Should I just replace it with a 5700x or maybe something higher like 5800x3d since it is the end of am4?

Use case: primarily gaming. looking to play latest AAA games

Other specs:
GPU: 1060 (planning to upgrade to something around 3080 level)
RAM: GSkill NEO 3600
Mobo: ASUS B450-F Gaming
PSU: Seasonic Focus 750

If you have sufficient cooling a 5800X3D is a good pick - it's almost as fast as the new Zen 4 CPUs in terms of gaming, and should be a substantial upgrade over the 3700X icon_idea.gif
*
I would have to buy a cooler since I used the stock cooler with 3700x. Is it worth spending 1K plus new cooler (I am assuming low tier air cooler should suffice) for the 5800x3d over just getting the replacement 5700x or even 5600x plus a new cooler?

Why is the resolution so low? I will play at 1440p, and im unsure is 15% is worth 1k plus a new cooler to be honest. Also based on the games that are benchmarked, it seems multiplayers are mostly impacted by the performance?

The reason why most CPU benchmarks are conducted at low resolutions (and with a very fast GPU) is to remove as much GPU bottleneck as possible so that only the CPU is the major component that affects gaming performance icon_idea.gif

Ok thanks. Any recommendation for coolers?

I think it's ok, mine doesn't sustain at high temperatures during gaming sessions (it usually jumps to high temp for a few secs at loading then drops back down).

there are downvolting mods too that really cools it way down.
*
Could you share your temps and specs?
Undervolting right? Will it introduce instabiliy as same as overclocking?
Most I did on my 3700x was enable PBO
