Like chocobo7779 said, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max around RM500. Power supply to somewhere along the lines of Super Flower Leadex III Gold 650W or Corsair TX650M around RM380-410.
Yup, thats the one.
*
Consider it has some of the best VRMs in its range and the 32MB BIOS chip - it should handle most mainstream Zen 2 chips (even the 3900X, provided that some additional cooling is provided on the VRMs). You can even upgrade to a Zen 3 CPU if desired in the future too icon_idea.gif

AMD. Some clear stock crap on that build. Adata XPG SX8200 Pro will rollover Samsung 860 Evo. RM1990 for RTX 2060..... can get 5700 XT which smokes it.

Ryzen 5 3600 > i5-9400F
Adata SX8200 Pro 512GB > Samsung 860 Evo
5700 XT > RTX 2060 Super (Unless you need to do streaming. Nvidia NVEnc is miles better than AMD)

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - 859
MSI B450M Mortar - 450 (get the Max version if available)
G.Skill TridentZ Neo 16GB DDR4-3600 kit - 489
Gigabyte RX 5700 XT 8GB - 1899
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB - 335
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 169
Corsair TX650M - 389
Fractal Design Meshify C Mini case - 399

RM4989 total (C-Zone prices)
*
Actually the Mortar MAX is available from lingloong for RM479 at Lazada icon_idea.gif

The 860 EVO is just a SATA M.2 drive which is far slower than the Adata unit, and you get twice the amount of storage (which is handy especially games over 100GB is getting pretty common, such as the upcoming RDR2) icon_idea.gif

Also, the Gigabyte card is actually a very, very good RX5700XT (I would say it'll perform close, if not as good as the Sapphire Pulse) icon_idea.gif

Top up another MYR 141 for a total of MYR 2049 and you can get a ZOTAC RTX 2070 SUPER AIR / MINI 8GB GDDR6 - ZT-T20710E-10M here.

Refer to Post #8039 too.

TristanX's build is already approaching the 5K limit sweat.gif

Also, the performance gains are not worth it IMHO

Hellu.

[Budget]
RM2,500-RM3,000

[Purpose]
Purely for gaming/entertainment

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
I have an unused & unopened Sandisk SSD 256GB. Will chuck that in here.

[Monitor resolution]
Something that is clear and lasting will do.

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
AAA titles, not using any other GPU demanding softwares

[Personal preferences]
Knowledge about computers remained at the stone age when people said that AMD products are easily overheated. But recent developments macam AMD > Intel. Willing to try out a build with AMD products.

Want nothing fancy. A normal build will do. But hope that the device is future proof also (can play future AAA titles with decent FPS).

[Location]
PJ/Subang/KL

Thanks!
*
May I know which Sandisk SSD is it? hmm.gif

Here's what I'd go with icon_idea.gif

Ryzen 5 3600 - RM859
ASRock B450 Pro4 - RM328
Klevv Bolt X 3200 16GB - RM359
Galax GTX1660 - RM899
-Reuse SSD-
WD Blue 1TB - RM165
FSP Hydro GD 550W - RM285
Tecware Nexus C case - RM149

Total: RM3044

Thanks, your suggestion is good. But for mobo, I'll probably get Asrock B450M Steel Legend and bump up the RAM to 16GB
*
The Steel Legend has worse VRMs than the Tomahawk MAX, which will limit your CPU upgrades in the future icon_idea.gif

Any new stuff coming out soon that will reduce the prices of the current build? What about the fall of bitcoin, have it reduced the prices of graphic cards?

Gonna go on buying spree after bonus early next year  biggrin.gif
*
No not really - the prices will likely to stay for now (although Intel may be doing some price cuts on their CPUs on the heels of AMD's competition) icon_idea.gif

Midrange GPUs had not been improved in terms of price/performance as this segment is pretty stagnant due to a lack of competition (however the upcoming RX5500 may change this up a bit) icon_idea.gif

hi, would like to ask a general question. im planning to buy a pc that can run doom eternal at 1440p 120+fps at high settings. currently owns a i5 4690 + 970. i am well aware gpu prices are excessive at the moment and intel is no longer the best at gaming. how much money should i generally be spending on to get what i want? rig + monitor

other pertinent points
- not overclocking
-other uses - photoshop
-ram 8-16gb
-ssd: 0.5 - 1tb. i see the nvme adata gets recommended a lot. is it that good since its considerably more expensive than the sata variant?
-case - currently using a tj08, i like it but i prefer something smaller
-as far as upgrade paths go, most likely will not upgrade anything other than hdd
-hdd: capacity >1tb, anything value for money

the monitor part also somewhat overwhelms me. should i go for a single solution or go for separate units, one for photo editing+movies and the other for games? i am not at leisure to check them on my own so i cant really decide

Thanks for the list! but since i don't upgrade my rig often, getting a RTX is better for the future?
If only AMD GPU have ray tracing available  bangwall.gif
*
No, the RX5700XT is a fair bit faster than the 2060 Super icon_idea.gif

RTX at this moment is not worth it IMHO - too much FPS loss for very little visual gains icon_idea.gif

X570 board will also kill the graphic card performance you can get as well.

How about these?

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - 1399
Asus TUF X570-Plus (best budget X570) - 999
G.Skill TridentZ Neo 16GB DDR4-3600 kit - 489
Galax GTX 1660 6GB OC - 899
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB - 335
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 169
Corsair TX650M or Super Flower Leadex II Gold 650W - 389
Thermaltake Level 20 MT case - 359

RM5038 total (C-Zone prices)
*
The weird part is if you downgrade the X570 board to the B450 Tomahawk MAX, you can essentially get a much better GPU as well icon_idea.gif

In fact if you downgrade both the CPU and board you can even fit a 5700 XT in that build icon_idea.gif

Go for Super Flower Leadex II Gold 650W. AMD recommends 600W or better for RX 5700.
*
You do not even need a 600W unit - a quality 550W will suffice icon_idea.gif

I'm running a 3600 with a 5700 XT on a 550W Seasonic unit and it has been rock solid so far icon_idea.gif
