QUOTE(calvincty @ Dec 20 2023, 02:49 PM) Found this from a Shopee seller with good price and get most of the item available except for the PSU unit (1stplayer steampunk). Considering that in the next 3-6 months, I will be getting a GPU in the RX6700XT range, which of the below would be the best value/fit? These are the PSUs I found available from their store, around 400-500 range, and also among the similar Tier (Tier-B, I guess? according to the list I found at cultists) - Adata Core Reactor 750W - RM 469 - Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 650W - RM 399 - FSP Dagger Pro 650W - RM 455 - FSP Hydro G Pro 750W Gold - RM 499 Maybe those list of PSUs could also be overkill for my spec. Here is the lower price range available from the store: (RM 200 - 400) and wonder if any of this also sufficient/efficient even after adding a GPU? Just purchased this spec last week and was thinking of having APU for the first few months and upgrading with GPU later. While I'm looking around for a used card and comes to RX6600 & RX660XT, I have been told that the CPU will be the bottleneck of the GPU due to the PCIE3 connectivity compared to the PCIE4 connectivity on 5600/x. I wasn't aware of this, while I thought 5600G was the exact version of 5600 but with an additional iGPU. Is that true? If so, then I might be sticking with it for longer period and only do upgrade once together with the CPU and GPU.

QUOTE(TristanX @ Dec 29 2023, 12:35 AM) Yeah, go for at least PCIe X8 cards to avoid bottleneck. In this case, RX6600 is a PCIe X8 card, right? is it fine to pair with 5600G?

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Dec 29 2023, 09:45 AM) Yeah nope dont get that. Ady bad enuff ur CPU is limited to PCIE Gen3 bandwidth, then ur gonna cripple it further to x8 lanes. Effectively maxed at 8GB/s. Even if its fine for ur CPU currently it will bottleneck any future upgrades. oh? The 6600XT isn't the same as 6600? thought you are suggesting me to keep the CPU and upgrade to 6600XT for now. Just built a pc with R5 5600, 32gb and 6600xt to replace my Mac mini m2 pro 32G as the new job need a windows and also plan for light gaming
However, I do feel the current pc experience for my daily productivity wasn’t up on par with the Mac experience. Overall feeling sluggish in switching multiple browsers tab and documents/video playing.
Not to say very slow but it just doesn’t feel as smooth as Mac.
Thinking whether it is the hardware or OS issues, if it is the hardware I’m thinking to upgrade the cpu to 5900x for more cores to help. If that’s the case, what’s the recommended cooler for 5900x?

QUOTE(TristanX @ Jan 20 2024, 07:37 PM) Zen 3 is behind Intel Alder Lake and AMD Ryzen 7000. On top of that, you have only 6 cores to do so many things. M2 got 4 P and 4 E cores. 5900X will need the best cooler you can get. Thermalright Phantom Spirit if you wanna save a bit. Thank you! Is this the Termalright cooler you suggested for 5900X? https://shopee.com.my/-THERMALRIGHT-Phantom...182.23243952392
