at that time nobody come close to their waterproof tech in smartphone. You don't compare few years ago tech to todays tech

when they have no so good tech gen (Z, Z1,Z2), water damage is allow to claim, which is so confidence .... but with better tech and they not allow ....
worst their phone have to IP rating 1. IP 65 and second IP 68, which is first in the world using two rating in one device ...

mind to share which IP rating phone allow you to claim warranty for water damage? I will buy 10 of the phone. Even samsung and iphone with IP rating phones also never allow you to claim for water damage.

I expect RM2699 but then that's the launching price of XZ back in November where the USD is 4.3, now is 4.5 so... yeah. Still not too bad at least it didn't breach the rm3k mark.

rumor says it would cost about USD680.

For my case, I dropped my Forest Blue XZ on the ground - was using the stand style cover - it came off and struck the floor - didn't break or crack but screen has light scratches..

Makes sense to go for XZs now - but.. no forest blue. sad.gif

actually they have pressure tester, if pressure tester turn out that phone with pressure leak means it defect by default and allow us to claim warranty (that how IP rating work), but most customer service or tech they just lazy to do that and simply said there is no warranty on it ....
at the same time i help a lot Xperia Z1 user claim water damage in FB too ...

this is new. what is the pressure value that they can withstand? got any link to refer?

but even so, how do you prove that your water damage is within the acceptable pressure range?

If pressure leak means the unit issue n no qualify for ip rating no matter we throw it in 100 feet or 1 ft water, warranty claimable for any water damage ....

Actually to make ur xperia z none water proof is pretty simple, just try to bend that phone a bit, u see back glass will pop out n all pressure leak..

actually they only started to use nanocoating on the jacks since Z5 onwards
before that all it did were just cover it with flaps

whereas HTC Desire Eye already had the flapless IPX7 water proof in 2014

Surprised nobody here pre-ordered XZs.

The actual cause is not because of pre-order period been extended. It's because Sony Msia could not get the stock on time. My friend pre-ordered it and was told to wait till 13th - 17th.

I am posting here as I'm not getting much feedback over at the general forum. And, I think most likely most of the posts will be from Sony haters, maybe? Hoping to get a better feedback from genuine Sony users here...

I am planning to get a new smartphone to replace my current Galaxy Note II (yes, very old phone). I am interested in Sony's Xperia XZ but I just saw the recent release of XZs and XZP in the near future.

Comparing XZ & XZs --- Spec wise, both seems the same with the exception of camera & RAM; but otherwise I think performance wise should be almost similar. Impressed with XZP but I think it will be quite expensive so it's not within my shortlisted options.

Sony users - do you think I should get the XZs or XZ? Any comments or suggestions?

If your budget allows, XZs all the way bro. 3GB is barely enough in 2017. I see no point to get XZ at all.

Hi Guys, really hard to get a comparison of the camera performance between the XZ premium vs the Galaxy S8. Really want to pick this XZ premium for the Motion Eye camera, but would want the low light shot to be as excellent as the S8.

But a bit weary of the performance of Sony. Last time using the sony c5 ultra dual, lag like hell. Maybe with the SD 835, it should not be a problem.

go for XZs if your budget is allowed.. and i knew preorder will get some freebies worth more than 500 like SBH80, fast charger and casing?! need to check it out..

rm2899 with 64gb, 4gb ram is quite standard compare with other flagship.. (u have exclusive 960fps slow mo feature) and some camera features.. u have give and take.. see which features are more important to you..

Sorry bro. The chance of that happening is 0% unless the entire JPEG team is overhauled.

The Motion Eye is really high tech. But when was the last time you shoot a slow mo video? To me that's a secondary feature.

Sony camera needs some knowledge to use. If you have steady hand, with the manual mode, it can even beat Pixel XL. cool2.gif

I'm those point and shoot type. And most of the photo I take are in door with subpar lighting.
Will wait for some more comparison photos with full auto mode to decide. Decision, decision.

The potential is there, but Auto mode doesn't bring it out. Auto mode tends to have high shutter speed to reduce your handshake, by sacrificing image quality. You want blurry photo or high noise? I would rather have high noise, which can be cleaned up later, if wanted. When pixel peep, the image isn't sharp, but if you perform downsampling to identical pixel count with other phones, you will see the detail is sharper.

Admittedly, the corner sharpness issue does exist, but since it is wider than other phones, personally find it acceptable, given the sensor size, the focal length, aperture and no camera bulge. The focal length & distortion is not suitable for casual shoots, works well landscape. Generally the camera is too specific for it's use + demanding on the user ability. The "artifacts" can be removed with mild denoise in post processing, but I prefer to have that to keep the details. For a casual user who posts on social platform, the compression itself already kill the information of the picture, let alone artifacts.

No double-tap to wake or sleep at all.

Don't know if its a mistake in the firmware or if its coming to this model ever...

try refer to taiwan forum about the samples.. they are more active over there. hopefully u can read mandarin or else use google chrome and auto translate mandarin to english

i'm more impressive to super slow mo video recording.. cant even think off smartphone can have this as well.. output in daylight generally is quite good..

I noticed that most left hand screen having minor touch sensitivity issue. I need to press harder in order to type letter 'q'. I suspect it might be caused by screen protector which appeared to be curve on both side. Is anyone having the same problem?

Finally got chances try the XZs, the slow motion video only can record few second...

I feel very bored with the phone, don't have single feel to even play it second time.

Don't ask me why, just no feeling to it. Even Huawei I still got some feel. This Sony really no feel, I feel it very very dated.

I just tested yesterday, only 5 seconds length for 960 fps and only 1 second after we press the button? How do we timed perfectly the scene we want? Like popping a balloon, maybe we record it before or after it's been popped. laugh.gif

Yes - the duration is short - but when it manages to capture, its quite amazing - I think its best with things that are moving very fast repeatedly - fountains and anything with water sprays. I managed to capture windshield wiper against very heavy rain - looked amazing actually, but too short.

I have dropped my fast charging charger once from table. I didn't expect it broken so fast. On the other hand, I have not dropped my phone before. Sigh... sad.gif no choice. I have to accept that I am having bad luck. Maybe I should be looking XZ Premium Bronze Pink tongue.gif

I'm using nake for my own phone.. there is a coating for phone recently, clear coat. Available in KL and Penang.. expensive. But have warranty.

If u aren't careless people and don't plan to resell your phone, I think u can use it nake. Curved screen very hard to find nice screen protector except coating or pet film..

They are from hong kong. U have to bear the cost of sending ur phone to their msia distribution centre for repair. Then they will send to HK, this one they paid the cost.

It's quite hard to get Xperia xzs case... Haha
May I ask is there any type c charging dock? I bought Xperia xzs few days ago. Yet, I get micro USB charging dock which is incompatible with my xzs.

The color reproduction on the phone is great, more saturated than it's predecessor. It seems like the yellowish tint issue is still there...

Can anyone suggest accurate device temp gauge? I am using cpu temperature apps now. I don't think it's accurate. Sometimes the apps can show up to 60 degrees Celsius when the phone's wifi is on. I can feel the warm, but it doesn't feel very hot (like 60 degree as shown in the app).

Guys , mind to share what types ofcasing are you using for your xzs ? Are those expensive cases like ringke fusion , devilcase worth the money ? Or those rm30++ rubber rugged armour case will be sufficient ? Those rm30++ cases looked rugged
and tough , escpecially the 4 edges of the case , but is it really good ?

I used it on my XZ - which will be similar to the XZs one - unfortunately I can't recommend unless you have no other choice.

The material on the edges wear off slightly after a while from friction - in and out of pocket daily etc. And be careful not to drop it - I dropped mine twice with this cover on - both times - it became detached from the phone after hitting the floor - phone function etc was ok but screen was scratched a bit - therefore use with screen protection if you use this cover.

I think the official 'not for sale' soft rubber case provided (as a free gift) does a better job.

Havent try the ringke fusion, but the devilcase aluminum frame is one of the best case I had ever used in my entire phone usage history thumbup.gif

But it only cover sides of the phone, right? If the phone drop face down, or face up, the screen or the back of the phone still damage, right? It's quite expensive too, right? I have been using RM20 flip case for my old phone till now. Dropped it several times from table, the phone suffer zero scratches and damages. But, it's ugly. Haha. The frame is thicker than the phone. unless there's stone or so during the drop impact zone I don't think it will hit the glass. as for the back it is aluminum, i applied a layer of skin on it so if it damaged i'll just peel off the skin and stick another on.

Anyone using the free screen protector and free case provided by sony ? How's the quality of the screen protector ? Does it cover the front panel of the phone fully including the 2.5d curve screen part ?

guys , what type of screen protector u use for your xzs ? i received the free sony tempered glass today . Yet , i drop it on the floor before apply it on the phone . I am very surprised that the edge of the tempered glass crack. it's a rm2k ++ phone , how can they provide this type of tempered glass ? I will 'invest' in good quality screen protector . any suggestion ?

I really enjoy listening to music on this phone using its stereo speaker . The surround sound effect is amazing ! But , i noticed that when i turn up teh volume above 50% , i can hear some hissing sound , is that normal ?

When i hold the upper part of the phone , the wifi signal dropped from 3 bar to 1 bar . Anyone also experienced the same problem ? Is it common for xzs ? Or it's manufacture defect ?

Haha no problem. Card is fine... the later OTA updates resolved the issue, now the phone's working really well for day to day usage.

i adjusted the white balance setting like so:
R: 0
G: 0
B: 35

no more yellowish but the white level is still less accurate compared to my old z3 compact, huhu

I was waiting for my Z5 Premium to die before buying a new one then on 30th December it finally did. Was gonna buy XZ2P but then I got turned off by lack of headphone jack. Since I heard XZ4 has headphone jack, I decided to get something decent in this emergency situation. After making comparisons, I set myself on XZ1. Went to Sony store and it was RM17xx. Then I stumbled upon XZs and saw it was RM1199. I think it was a good deal and got XZs instead.

I figured it was an old model(Oct 17) but still an upgrade from Z5P so still good enough. Drawback is there's no tap to sleep/wake. I am still updating, seems like I've gone thru 20 update restarts( sweat.gif ) already. Now on Oreo.Quite a lot more updates till I can reach Pie.

So far so good. No regrets.

i got several remakrs regarding this xzs docomo set.

android security patch still April 2019.
cant upgrade firmware (failed to connect)
battery usage. SOT quite low.maybe need to change battery
