All sifu out there... would you be kind enough to recommend an electric guitar? Budget is around 1.5k less than that eould be nice but can add a few but 2k is out of budget range.....

Had a copy of strat last time and happy about it, quality is way down compared to a fender strat but still good for me, not in a band anymore but wanted to have some practice guitar and would liked if it can be good enough to use in a gig.

Looking for ibanez rg and the likes? 22-24 fret? No problem if got trem system but hopefully not a garbage kind of trem... never had a guitar with trem but its welcome anyway.

Genre would be all around i guess... some punk rock, metal, good clean sound than can be used for smooth love songs?

Can also recommend a nice amp around 1k? Fender, marshall or blackstar...

Thanks in advice guys

for that budget range i wouldn't recommend a floating trem because it wont stay in tune after a few excessive usage. go for a fixed bridge or a one way trem like in a strat. for that budget also the best is if you can get a 2nd hand mexican strat.

I dont actually use trem for crazy dive bombs and stuffs maybe just to help in bending happy.gif just for a little help.. will it be a problem to use a trem on that budget? Looking for ibz rg470 or rg421 and ltd m100fm i guess? But not sure if can use them for soft and smooth or rock style love songs like bon jovi style? Heard they are for rock metal kind of genre... hoping i can use it also for nice clean strums and clean solos...?had strat copy before so wanted to try other sounds...?

so your total budget for guitar nad amp is 3k?

ive also some bad news,, unless you are willing to break the bank, good clean sound is something hard to get with the choice you are looking at

ie IBZ Rg's cleans are very very VERY sterile

As long it's affordable, nothing wrong buying gtr with FR tremolo system 24 fret (4-5 time crazy dive bomb and out of tune) smile.gif you can change later on for sturdy/good tremolo, lock etc

well theres no best thing to do, personally id say stay away from FR's but a friend told me he managed to secure some very cheap and relatively lesser known guitars with gotoh in them for a good deal (within your budget)

but in general theres no perfect amp or guitar that does everything, you have close brands but those normally cost an arm and a leg.

for the most part in the reasonable side of the price scale, its a choice between great cleans , crunch, high gain or a buffet assortment (modellers). like any buffet la, they will give you an idea and a close taste of all the flavours but it wont be the best.

if you want to cover as much ground then a modelling amps are wonderful, but they still operate within limits, it vox sux with high gain. it will do the job however, it can do most shows without much hassle, very feature heavy, guitarist friendly.

likewise you can hunt for a second hand old schecter (the second hand value on these are shit) if you want some metal stuff or a Squire CV if its cleaner vintage sounding stuff.

just have to choose la which sounds are more important to you

Other forummers have replied regarding the guitar.

For amp, I think the 'hot' stuff in recent few months at below 2k budget is Boss Katana series. It's a modeling amp, but it received raving reviews. It has everything that one needs at home practising and also live. Go and check them out. I recommend the 100W model because of extra features. Else 50W is fine too. Oh it also has low power mode for midnight jamming. wink.gif

Got a Boss Katana 100 last week after I sell my Blackstar ht5r. The katana sound good imo. Not a modeling amp but a solid state amp. It response like a tube amp though not having 100% tube sound, play it these few days instead of my ceriatone, still exploring its tone basically just sound very good for the price.
