A friend of mine have recommended me to a company base in Dubai for a job as Field Service Representative (system base & handling airlines customers within that region). So i think there will be a lot of travelling.

But before i want to pursue further i need some info/advice.

1. Anyone having experience working in Dubai? Is is worth to go there
2. I know cost are high there. What is the ideal salary range to sort of survive there? I know it depends on the perks that the company gives, which i'm going to ask soon.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

We have pay slip to show then should not be an issue right? Being cash back and change in money exchange counter? Sound risky..

QUOTE(max262 @ Aug 9 2018, 07:23 PM)
In a nutshell, Dubai has a little something for just about everyone.
If you like nightlife, there are a whole range of clubs and bars available.
If you are a practicing Muslim, the city is home to over 400 masaajid from what I remember to be the last count.
We're located on the shores on the Arabian Gulf, which means the beach is always near by.
Cars are generally cheaper than elsewhere.
Rents have fallen over the last three years coupled with much greater supply, making it considerably easier to find housing.
There is no income or corporation tax. However this is generally made up the by government with different forms of indirect taxation, this includes road tolls, various fees and levies for different government services. A general aim is to run all government departments like a profit making business.
I`v just come back from my vocation tour from UAE. And I`m really excited! You should visit this website https://www.wowgifts.ae/ to know how to get unforgettable experiences and life -lasting memories in this wonderful country!

Dubai has it's nuances, but is generally a great place to live and work.

Google up the salary surveys and use that as a reference.

While full expat packages are rare nowadays, the offers I've seen typically include housing and education "assistance" ie. pay and claim with a limit biggrin.gif

I agree on it being mundane but life is very secured and safe here.

Either you would be sharing a room , or taking a whole room to yourself.
Transportation won't be a lot if you're close by to your office.

You need at least 6-7k based on all expenses

Assuming 1k for housing and 1k for food (much less if you cook at home) and remaining ~1.5k for other misc expenses you can save quite a bit.
Most companies will provide housing allowance , and it's a conservative amount that I have mentioned.
Always realize one is easily replaceable with other nationalities who will work harder and for less.

Accomodation will be your biggest expense. Price differs greatly on place you want to stay. 1K will only get you a room in most expat areas. Food is cheap. Sould get a car, used ones are very cheap.

Must remember , rule of law does not prevail although daily life is not a hassel. Boring life unless you have friends. Be defensive at all times, not easy to talk logic to authorities!

Spent 10 years at the sandpit, could not wait to get home! My advice to all intending to work in the M East, save money, keep clean & get home!

Hello everyone, sorry for the small offtopic. I am going to Dubai in a few weeks and would like to rent a car there for the duration of my stay. I read about paddockrentacar in the Internet, the prices are lower there than many competitors, and therefore the question. Did someone use this service?

10k dinar or USD?

is not enough to save back more money to Malaysia if 10k dinar RM@dirham.
accommodation is the most critical. if your working places are within a metro line, then transportation should be ok.

may sufficient if the package cover all the goodness i.e. accommodation, transportation, international school fees etc.

My working experience after working in Dubai,

My life style when i was single

I can just spend less than rm1000 for myself for living+ eating per month
Rent for studio room for about 2.5k per month (Sharjah area)
Travel to workplace (accommodated by company)
Internet 400aed per month
Taxi 120aed per month

everything else i send back home

So 20k is more than enough though

its depending on your lifestyle. You can save a lot but you can spend a lot at the same time.

AED 18k seems on the low side but depending on your profession. For malaysian, you will need to undergo UAE driving lessons and road test. Pm me if you have questions, I'm currently still working in the country.

Hi if anyone here still working in Abu Dhabi?
Recently I have been offered a role to work in Abu Dhabi and I would need some advice here before I make the decision
some background about myself
going to 40 next year and I have been working in sg for 4 years which what can they offer me is kind of 1 to 1 but from sgd to usd so it is like 35% increment only which is not a lot but I'm comfortable with my existing pay already
but thinking it could be a good exposure and exp to work in middle east or UAE

so my question is
1. Do you guys perceive that moving to Abu Dhabi is a good move? from resume/experience/exposure perspective ? given that I already have exp in big4 and international bank but in SG and MY
2. Where do you guys staying in Abu Dhabi? I have just google the area and rental , seem like Abu Dhabi renting house per annum instead of by month my office should be around "The Galleria Al Maryah Island" and I'm looking at around 40k AED and not more than 50k AED if possible (not sure about public transport in Abu Dhabi so hopefully to get some where closer to office)
3. How do you guys cope with the weather and culture there? can you guys bend in to the local ?

Thanks in advance

Hi hi, thanks all for the good infos, however, may i ask generally what sort of preparation we need (in Malaysia) if we were to work in Dubai ?

I never travelled abroad (believe it or not), my fam oso never had the opportunity to work abroad. Recently I got head hunter for some possible role in Dubai. Tqia.

If you're seriously considering a move to Dubai, especially for work, one thing I'd recommend early is planning your relocation properly, it can make a huge difference. A lot of people overlook the logistics side, but services like Smart Movers can really help smooth that transition. They handle international relocations, and having local support on the ground makes everything from shipping to settling in way easier.
