I have a Sony TV & a Sony 5.1 HTIB. Audio is automatically output to the HTIB receiver & I can switch on/off both TV & receiver simultaneously with 1 remote. I believe this is called ARC

I installed unifi recently & got the HyppTV STB. When the STB is plugged into my system, it messes up the link between the TV & HTIB receiver. I get a "communication error" msg & all audio (astro/BR player/HyppTV STB) goes to the TV speakers. The on/off switch also no longer switches on/off both TV & receiver. When the HyppTV STB disconnected, everything goes back to normal. WTF??!!. Any sifu can help?

in thread title u mentioned ARC.

the rest, there is no clear indication how are the connections, video and audio.

make a drawing of all the connections, connection points or photos, post it up.

Last time I used to plug in the way you did but after using it for sometime. I switch my way of connecting to my receiver.

My connection now :- all the equipment plug in directly to the TV HDMI 1,2 &3 than used a optical cable connected from TV optical output to my receiver. So now I don't need to switch on my amp all the time if there are children and if I wanted to used my receiver to amplifier the Audio. I can used the optical external speaker option from my TV (Samsung).

use optical rather than hdmi arc, TS can give it a try!

this should be fine. try playing around with the hypp stb audio settings.

and try using the tv and avr remote separately, see if it makes a a diff.

the thing is HITB tend to have their own firmware of doing things. more so if the set is not so new while the other equipment are newer.

some hdmi arc have certain restrictions, limitations, cable specs, etc.

so, can try the optical optical way as suggested, may work.

After googling, the solution seems to be a "CEC-less or non-CEC hdmi adapter". Alternatively, buy a cheap hdmi cable & remove pin 13 from the hdmi plug. I'm gonna try that later & let you know how it goes

SUCCESS! Confirm remove or disable pin 13 of the hdmi plug solves the problem.

I bought a cheap china hdmi cable, cracked open one end of the plug & cut the wire to pin 13. Not elegant but it works. Google for diagram of the pin location

wow good info. HYpptv STB really the culprit but i wont go that far to damage pin 13 of HDMI cable. There should be other way.

FYI a cheaper (although uglier) alternative is to get a hdmi to DVI converter and a DVI to hdmi converter. You can get both for under RM 30 on Lazada. I’m using this setup and ARC works fine now!

Wow u mean connection like below:-

TV HDMI port - hdmidvi cable - dvihdmi cable - htpptv hdmi port

TV hdmi arc - hdmi cable - 5.1 Speaker Hdmi port

Then other extra TV hdmi ports can connect to ps4, Astro, xbox, android box

And all sound including TV sound will go to that 5.2 Speaker right?

Good find!

My Hypptv STB also mess up my ARC setting using Sony soundbar.
I cant even control my soundbar volume using volume button Astro controller.

I connect using Astro & Hypptv using UGreen HDMI joiner(or sort of the name),
and the output to my Samsung TV.

When the Hypptv Off, all of the controller, even my PS4 not working correctly.
But, when the Hypptv is ON position, all working correctly.

Deng!!!Membazir electric ajer...

My connection:
Sony Soundbar
HDMI 1: PS4
HDMI 2: Media Player
HMDI 3: Ugreen HDMI joiner (Astro+Hypptv)

ARC output: Samsung TV

I did this, tv hdmi port - standard hdmi cable - hdmi to dvi converter - dvi to hdmi converter - hypptv box

If your setup worked before connecting the hypptv box, then it will work once u connect the tvbox with this setup, since dvi doesn’t support cec.

Pic below shows the cable that goes into the hypptv box. Ugly I know. 😄

Solved mine by cutting little tiny tap and block pin 13 on HDMI cable (refer online HDMI diagram). Very low possibility of success rate. 3rd tried succeed. Problem solved, cost Rm0. smile.gif

Tips: You need good eye sight and light. And stable hand.

Finally found a topic that can enlighten me.
Very frustrated already and even Sony technicians came over to rectify its HyppTV issue.

Gonna try this tonight.

Is there anyone here complaint with TM regarding their lousy Hypptv Android Box messing with ARC? Maybe a firmware updates can solve this?

Hi, in your case the audio is still able to go to the TV through the HDMI-DVI and DVI-HDMI converters right? Cos I don't want to pull a separate audio line from the hypptv box to the receiver.

I just use a simple trick; use a sellotape and cover the pin 13. It's quite difficult to do and need patience before success. Help this help. Yes indeed; Hypptv STB do screw up ARC between TV and soundbar.
