What problem you facing?

This car is not made a good FC car like Bezza to begin with... but heck, go on and check on Bezza thread also finds user reporting bad FC of 11km/L or 300km for full tank despite their tank is slightly smaller but there are also some who manage to hit good FC too, guess the user and route covered played important role in getting a good FC as well.

For now I'm hitting 14 hours drive, 480km distance travelled with 1 bar left (no refill fuel light lit yet)
70% City and 30 highway with about total 2 hours bumper to bumper jam in this trip.

In my opinion the Persona FC is not the best in its class compared to those EEV, but it wasn't terrible, the FC is average given the weight of the car. My 200kg lighter Myvi 1.3 MT doing just only about 7% better compared to Persona. meanwhile my 1.3 MT Iswara is struggling to hit 400km with 32L of fuel, this Persona can easily hit 450KM or more with 32L of fuel at same route travelled.
*
Was wondering why the huge difference in FC while it's in the same model? Perodua or Proton..
Can't they troubleshoot and identify the missing puzzle and rectify it? or are their component and installation QC is use not consistent?

My todays refuel at 14hrs @370KM topped up at 37L/RM85.... roughly 10km/L doh.gif

By the way, does your manual car uses Torque Converter?? Or only Auto uses it? Thus far Manual variants also got huge different in FC?

But hey, u got over 300km for this round... I do find the FC keep improving as mileage grows... currently 8k mileage and I'm consistently getting 15km/l

I think FC varies on our route condition not just traffic alone, hills counts too... mind to share where you travel throughout these fuel up?

Today fuel up I got 15.2km/l for 14hours drive, average 41km/h travelled 480km, fuel bar left 1 bar, no flash no refuel light yet.
Previously getting like 13-14km/l

Torque converter is only on Auto.. meanwhile this Punch CVT is Clutch based. MT use only clutch, simple mechanism...

Own the car almost one month now. Premium CVT. At first the FC was real bad, i thought i was gonna regret it.
First time i put RM30 (13.05L) fuel inside when the fuel up icon was blinking. Managed to go 140Km, roughly 30-40% city, rest is highway. So FC is 10.72km/L.. Bad..

Second time improved a bit. Same RM30 after fuel up icon blink. Managed to go 160km. Gives me 12.26km/L.

Most recently, I pump RM40 (17.39L) after icon blink. Managed to drive almost 275km before blink again. So roughly 15.81km/L.

Quite suprised with the last FC, though I might be wrong coz there might be error in the way i calculated it.

Usually each fuel up we fill it full(for my case stop fueling at first trip of nozzle) and reset trip meter, then till next fuel up use the total KM shown in that particular trip and divide how many litre of fuel pumped and proceed reset trip meter for next calculation. This way will get more accurate reading.

I did reset the trip meter each time i pump fuel. Only that i didnt fill it full. So maybe its not 100% accurate anyway.

Am currently below 4k mileage, ya, it did improved from 280km full tank to 370km, however I would say it's mostly contributed by my driving style from normal acceleration to "snail pace" to keep the ECO indicator lit from 30km/hr onwards.

Most of my routes are normal flat routes, rarely have steep hills, so I think the routes equation might be ruled out.

Does your Manual Variants have different FC between one cars and another?
If it doesn't, than most probably they had installed a bad Torque Converter in mine (since Auto had it as one of the variables) and worst case is bad QC Transmission/Gear/Engine. My Torque Converter will have high pitch (like jet engine turbine) sound audible at dashboard when audio/AC is not masking it, volumes increase/decrease based on my RPM.....feels like I am driving an airplane or turbo Engine... icon_rolleyes.gif ...the only thing is that it doesn't fly! whistling.gif

By the way, my first service at Alpha Auto Service and Parts Sdn Bhd @ Bukit Serdang was quiet dissapointed, gave me the old 10W-40 with higher price and charged me with additional screenwash and petrol treatment, and told me to back to service after 5000KM, yet when I told them about my fuel comsumption and other problems like jerking at low speed.....the Chinese female boss just "TaiChi" all the problems back to the customer saying it's my driving problem, instead of troubleshooting the problems for me!! doh.gif .... (Any good SC to intro me for my 2nd Service @10K)?

Hi .. good morning/afternoon/evening/night😂

Got the persona 2 days ago. Noticed slight jerking like feel (semput2) whenever I accelerate slowly under 40km/h.

Went to kotadamansara SC. Reset reset reset
Went to Kelana Jaya SC today. Reset again.

After coming back from SC I noticed that when I put in Reverse gear the car doesn't move. Pressed the accelerator slowly still not moving. After 3 seconds jerks a little and moved. For this I suspect Hill hold assist thingy.

Went back to KJ SC immediately. As usual the guy said it's normal. You have to press the accelerator harder.

Came back with a poker face.

Now. Jerking(semput) is still there. Reverse gear problem is there too.

Bought the car for my wife. Feeling like we will be having a lot of vacations at SC😒🙃😟

Please advise and help me dear friends.

I pray that all of you who spent time reading this buy your dream car and spend quality time reading other threads. 😂✌🤗😇😆

Try do this "CVT Gear Adaptation",
1)Startup your car and press on the break, let car be stationary.
2)Keep pressing on break while Shift Gear to N *5sec* > D *5sec* > N *5sec* > R*5sec* > N*5sec*
3)Repeat N>D>N>R>N for 3-5times.
Let me know if it works for you.

Mine only jerks at 0-20KM/H, especially each speedbump.
When you engaged Reserve Gear let it sit for 2-3sec, releasing the break your car should move slightly without additional gas(on leveled ground!) pump more gas to accelerate.

Hi. I tried. But to be honest. It feels the same. Regret going to Thelp second SC in KJ. They did reset and clutch adaptation which I forgot to mention.
The Reverse gear issue is still there.

Went to SC in Kota damansara today. The guy overconfidentaly explained to me that it is due to brake problem and we need to do bleeding 😬😠
*
Well, if CVT adaptation doesn't work, it could be that
1)The gears installed are already faulty by default
2)The ECU unit having trouble controlling your input and output to engage gears
3)The Torque Converter, the turbine side, could have been to tightly installed attached to the gear, thus Engine Rev spinning at the Propeller Side couldn't engaged the Turbine (Slipping) until you have Rev way highup to produced enough Torque (Energy Lost), which could explain why the high FC.

Did you manage to track your cars Fuel Comsumption?
Drive until you at 1Bar/Blinking, Refuel at full tank 1 click, that's your RM,L=???KM
Maybe you should drive and reach the 1000K mark, hopefully things get better for you! thumbsup.gif

(...and if your SC did manage to find the problem, do let me know, I also need to bring mine go check! whistling.gif )

For any problem solving or complicated inspection better send to Proton Edar service center instead of Wakil... I submitted my list of complains and they attended all the stuffs I complained with feedback, at least they tested every single thing I complained instead of blaming me and say the car is like this is like that, if no problem they will state the car is tested for that particular complaint and no issue was found.

Proton has been getting terrible rating for after sales service mostly thanks to these Wakil who know nuts about Proton and do nothing when it comes to complaints, what worse they keep adding unnecessary stuff in to the package to earn more from you.
The CVT in Persona is Clutch type, even this they also don't know, I doubt why they still entitle the "Wakil" title. doh.gif

due to job position changed, I rarely use my car,
normally use on weekend travelling short distance only.
I done my 1000km services early this Mar, (as per sa in 1-2 month time if dint reach 1000km) mileage that time around 3xxkm.
Yesterday my car just over 500km, and the periodic inspection notice come out.
is it when 1st service sc there dint reset?
I asked my sa, reply is just leave it there...
If I want reset the notice, is it direct back to sc and request? need booking 1st?
Thanks

**update
Sa msg and inform that can go bac sc any time, and look for service advisor to reset for me.

Persona have a interval of service 1K/1month ~ 10k/6month, the condition is which ever comes first. You already done your 1K service supposedly should be your next service should be at 10K or 6 month, what baffle me is that after 500KM travelled, inspection notice came out? it should be nothing like that.

Hey guys, I recently got my Proton Persona and already travelled 1300km in 2 weeks. I would like to share my experience/review as well as the after-sale service experience. I hope this will help any potential buyers make their decision if the product suits them. To make it easy I am breaking the review into several parts as below:

1.0 Car design

Visually, the car looks nice from the front but towards the back, it has a weird disproportionate look to it. I like the design of the light, but the rest of it seems a little weird. But after awhile, you get used to it and start to like it.

2.0 Cabin Design & Space

2.1 Seating comfort

Looking at the interior, it looks great considering the price. My version is the premium variant so there was leather, and in the door, there was a leather like material. The way the seats hold your body made it really comfortable when sitting and even driving. Even in the back, my family said it was really comfortable. But from my opinion, it looks a little cramped from the back appearance wise, but when you sit down it feels like there is space. When comparing to my previous car which was a Perodua Viva, I felt that it was even bigger than Persona from the rear space. However, after sitting in Persona's back seat it does feel like there is space. I must warn you though that when the front seats move backwards a little the backspace is reduced tremendously. I got a feeling that it is mainly due to the size of the seats (correct me if I am wrong).

2.2 General aesthetic

The two-tone door and dashboard, with the faux leather like material, made the cabin look modern. In overall it's quite comfortable and I have no complaints in this area.

3.0 Sound system

The Proton Persona comes with its usual Blaupunkt speakers. I came from my Perodua Viva and also a Myvi whereby the speakers sucks beyond imagination. I am an audiophile abit and to my relief the Persona's speakers was not disappointing there is a certain level of depth and clarity to it which is awesome! But as for the player, it sucks!! Some of the issues I found with the player on my car are:

- The volume increased itself to max once shocking.gif
- The bluetooth sometimes can connect sometimes cant connect
- The USB playback is jerky sometimes it hangs (They updated the radio firmware and issue still persists)
- The screen at one time was completely non responsive, and was hung at one screen turn off engine turn on still same had to bring to SC to do factory reset.

(I am planning to utilize the warranty gao gao and ak them to change the player)

4.0 Driving Experience & Performance

4.1 What I didnt like?
When I first got the car, I was very satisfied with the performance. I have driven a Perodua Viva, and Myvi and there is something really pleasant and fun when driving a Proton Persona. However, it was strange when I reached around 200km one fine morning, the car had a jerky feeling when moving from idle. It feels like as though the car was abit noob in releasing clutch. I didnt like this feeling, I will mention how I solved it in the next part of the review.

Also when coming down even a tiny slope engine braking kicks in immediately. This was very annoying, but there is a simple solution that you must continue to pressing the throttle and the engine breaking disengages. So problem solved here (to me).

4.2 The handling is awesome!

The car's handling is superb!! I can only give you my feeling based on comparison with Perodua Viva, Myvi, Toyota Vios, and Honda City. And honestly, the handling beats all of them... I drive alot meeting clients and all, and I still remember in a MyVi I have to break abit when approaching curvy roads otherwise the car will feel like its tilting. But on the Persona it gripped the road and went around the curvy road without any feeling driving around 90 km/h it was extremely enjoyable in my opinion. I drove a Toyota Vios and City before and I dont feel the same experience in terms of handling in the Proton Persona. Proton's much praised Lotus Ride & Handling is really something to shout about here.

There was one time where a Nissan Almera was behind me and the driver was high beaming me along the highway, I couldn't switch lanes because I was driving around 90km/h and there was a lorry on my left. The Nissan Almera was tail gating me, I was waiting for an opportunity to switch lanes. But I approached a curvy turning road and I continued driving while I noticed that the Nissan Almera had to slow down (being unable to handle the curvy road) and I could still maintain at 90km/h like a breeze and went quite a distance and changed lanes after coming out of the curve. To me, this was an awesome feeling !!

4.3 Performance-wise

In this area I must say that I am a very fuel conscious driver, I do not drive like a racer. I press the throttle gently and move from stop out of traffic lights slowly while other cars sprint away. However, there are situations where I needed to overtake cars and Persona could do that without a sweat. The car accelerates well but the sound dampening really masks it giving it a very elusive feeling. To me, I like it because comfort is very important. I would say that there is a balance of comfort and performance here. The car has enough power reserve to do well for road driving.

I must say there was one bad experience where I was trying to come up a hill and it felt a little sluggish if compared to a MyVi. It must be that the car is heavy. But not to worry there is still power there because I was hardly pressing the throttle hard enough as I mentioned I am a fuel conscious driver. The fastest I have ever took this car so far is at 100km/h rolleyes.gif

4.4 Noise Vibration & Harshness

In terms of absorbing road bumps persona beats Viva, and MyVi hands down. I am not so sure about if compared to Vios and City, but to me it is good enough. In terms of noise the car is silent at speeds below 90km/h whereby after that there is some noise. But the noise is still so much more dampened than a MyVi. I did drive a Honda City (an older one) from KL to Singapore and the noise was louder than the Persona at between 90 - 120 km/h. So to me it was satisfying considering the price of the car.

In overall the NVH is really satisfying and Proton kept this part of their promise here.

Before I conclude with the verdict, I will update in my next post (when I am free) with some of the issues I found with this car - the solutions and my first service experience at COSE.

Thank you for reading, hope it was useful.
