see my attached picture.
this is my FC. From last indicator, i pumped RM74 worth of fuel.
My driving style never exceeds 120km/h and mostly city driving. My RPM are most of the time, between 2000 - 2500 as this range of RPM allows adequate acceleration to the car. Although the picture shows that it hasn't reach the last bar of fuel, but from my experience, around 300km, the fuel indicator will lit, asking me to refuel. If RM74 runs for 300km, that's about RM0.25 for every single KM travelled. That's actually worse than my 2.0L 2008 Lancer GT. The second picture 7.7L/100km, although the figure is very good for me, but it's contradict to my actual spending and experience. The average FC is not accurate for my case.

There are 2 possible answer to this in my mind now:
1. ECU is not properly tweaked for FC
2. Power to weight ratio for Persona is bad because 1600cc need to pull a 1.2 tonne body. The more city driving (start and stop), the more fuel it burns.

It's very different from what Proton had advertised.

By the way, this is my Premium CVT
*
You owned the Premium CVT, how is the pick-up with FULL LOAD. I'm asking because I read a complaint about it being "under-powered" by a Premium owner. The other variants owners (including me) didn't noticed it.

Talk about "under-powered" - long, long ago I bought the C200 (brand new - the one with rectangular headlights). Got very good review. 2000cc yet from standstill at the road side, it didn't have the acceleration power to slip into the main traffic! My Saga (multi-value, 1st generation) didn't have such problem! How do I know the C200 was heavy? It makan tayar! How the FC? Want to show-off and then worried about FC? Sold the C200 and stick with the Saga for the next 20 years!

Back then I didn't know about Power to Weight Ratio (PWR). Only recently I learned it from one of Pualtan article.

I think the PWR affect both the FC and the acceleration power. LOL when I read Carsifu review "Toyota Innova, the smooth-er operator - Don’t bother to floor the accelerator, it’s just not going to impress"! Similar to my previous C200?

Old persona are almost the same fc but u need to pay for the extra 10liter fuel. My std cvt best can go around 380km only 80% city driving from full tank to fuel light up. Average 7.3l/100km. Here are some tips i like to share maybe can help fellow cvt owner for better saving:

- Pump the front tyre 220 psi back 200 psi (70kg driver and 60kg front passenger). If back got passengers or luggage then back add 10~20 psi. Check tyre pressure every 2 weeks.

- Off the aircond when starting the car cold, jalan first and on the aircond when temperature indicator got 2 bar. Lower or off the aircond if not that hot.

- After release the brake from a full stop, let the car move a bit first before accelerate gradually. The key of cvt to save fuel are u need to control the gas pedal well at slow driving. If u press hard the gas pedal at wrong timing, u will tend to bring up the rpm  unnecessarily instead of moving the car faster.

Best fuel brand i tested is petronas 95 as it's give better power at low torque.
*
My style of driving is like the tips you gave - smooth, no jerks, no syok. Most of the time the ECO light is on.

I can see that most of us are concerned with the FC. Not a surprise due to our financial bracket.

According to Carsifu -> At a constant 90kph, the new Persona is 10% (automatic transmission) and 13% (manual transmission) more fuel efficient compared with its predecessor.
Yes you are right - New and old persona are almost the same FC. Nothing to shout about because in the 1st place, old persona FC is bad. So, 10-13% less bad, is still bad!

We've to accept the fact that Persona is a heavy car - nice for highway driving.

I think when driving on highway, waterpump works faster, and ur radiator cools down faster due to higher speed. The thermostat might not be quick enough to open/close to balance off the water temps. If anybody got OBD reader then can find out what's the temp at 2 bars and 3 bars. Maybe it's not far off +-10degrees
*
Is it not the water pump (like the radiator fan) is controlled by the temp sensor? On high speed, the radiator is cool down by the wind that hit it and therefore the water pump (like the radiator fan) is switched off to prolong its lifespan? Just asking to clear my doubt.

There are 2 thermostat, mechanical thermostat controlling the water flow into engine, and electrical thermo sensor controlling the radiator fan spin on off... I believe on highway the thermo sensor already shut off the radiator fan when Aircond cut off, but the mechanical thermostat might having lower temp, says 71-82'c, it still allowing water flow, so you observe lower temp during highway drive.
*
Good feedback.

My long held theory is that the strong wind buffing the radiator in particular and the engine block in general is more efficient in dispersing the heat generated thus causing the temp bar to drop.

Maybe the engine temp tolerance range is within those 2 to 3 bars thus nothing to worry about? Maybe the temp gauge just indicate the radiator temp and not about the internal combustion chamber which should be controlled by spark plugs?

As an owner, I too would like to know more about the temp gauge.

Thinking on doing 10K service in Mutiara Damansara SC, anyone have experience dealing with them. I'm trying to fix the rattling noise and also some minor issues with them.
*
Could you kindly ask the SA about the Temp Bar dropping from 3 to 2 when on high speed. Will it hurt the engine?

Everlasting love if you can report back to us.

My fuel indicator showed massive discrepancies again..

Yesterday I Felt excited when 3 bars dropped to 2 bars after 85km distance, 80% highway, no jam in city roads. WOW!!!

.....then  2 bars dropped to 1 bar after the next 30km . ...damn!!

OK. so nothing have changed...thats about 55-58km per bar  like my daily drive to and back office with 60% hiway and 40% city roads with the chronic jam.
*
The fuel indicator reading is not liner. Once it drop to 3 bars, it means SOON you'll be making the petrol station owner laughing all the way to the bank. 2 bars mean VERY SOON and 1 bar is asking you to get ready your credit card. The fuel icon flashing you? Drive straight to the nearest police station to make a harrasement report. Today Sunday lah!

Yesterday went test drive the Persona Premium. The engine definitely has enough power, but the CVT is a bit noisy. However, it responds faster than the CVT in my old City. Interior quality is much better than Bezza.
Overall quite impressed. But my wife keeps complaining about the reverse placement of the signal/wiper control sticks.  sweat.gif

You have decided to buy Persona but not sure which variant to get?

Old Goat here invited 3 Car Reviewer Specialists namely Me, Myself and I to give their concise, honest and impartial opinions regarding Persona various variants.

And also a car thief (CT) to grade the various variants. Yes, your read it right. Who else is more interested in other people cars? You think he simply go and steal any Cap Ayam cars? And also some GF.....

Premium CVT - Pros: Semua ada
Cons: Semua problems pun ada
GF: What ??? You got Persona??? I thought you said Perdana!!!
CT: 1 thumb-up. Sorry about that, Bezza got the 2 thumps-up.

Executive CVT - Pros: Saved RM60K-RM56K = RM4K
Cons: Least popular
GF: What ??? You paid RM6K (RM56K-RM50K) for 8 stupid Adds-on? RM6K divided by 8 = RM750 each!!! Everyday you carry sugarcanes??? And everyday you need to use the front fog lamps??? And .... And ....
CT: Thumb-down

Standard CVT - Pros: Saved RM60K-RM50K = RM10K. Got moola to change roda (wheel). Clever boy!
Cons: No this, no that
GF: You no money say so lah
CT: Middle finger

Standard 5MT - Pros: Paradise for those who must "main kayu" and "goncang kaki"
Cons: Wife keeps complaining about the reverse placement of the signal/wiper control sticks
GF: Now you no hand to "more-more cha-cha", huh???
CT: Four letters word

Verdict: Change GF and make Old Goat persona nan grata!

Note - OG owned the Prestigious Award Winning Middle-finger one.

Hi all,my car got a kind of noise during braking almost to full stop ,sound like "krup krup krup",and "clik clik " noise during reverse or forward on slope, got anyone face this two problem ?
*
Last week there was also a quarry about kruk kruk sound when braking. And now you mentioned it too. Maybe brake problems are now starting to appear.

I didn't hear any funny noise when braking or reversing, whether on slope or on level ground.

If you now feel your car is behaving differently as compare when you first took delivery of your car, I would suggest you send it back to SC for checking. Brake wise, do it ASAP because brake failure is a serious matter.

I know it is a hassle to go to SC but don't go to an unauthorized workshop to avoid getting your car warranty voided.

For quiet and comfort you can try CC6, seen a lot good review about its quietness and comfort. But since this is not a performance tyre, don't expect for superior wet grip

What brand is that? Too lazy to google.

Oh nevermind, it is Continental.

cheeshong drsmallkid and those who got less than 280km for 1 tank

Care to share your Average speed and total driving time for that fuel up?

For my last fuel up I get around average of 45km/h and somewhere 12 hours drive time, most of other fuel up, I got similar reading as well.

It manage to travel around 460km and still have 2 bars left... the fuel up got me around 31 litre of fuel. total time involved in bumper to bumper traffic is around 2 hours for this fuel up... the rest is mix highway and city drive 50 50
*
Yours is MT? Boss also drive MT? Whereas most of us drive CVT.

It ls stated that at constant 90kph, MT use less fuel than CVT.

So, do we have to take this into consideration when comparing FC?

i own a standard cvt persona.

1. What is the recommended tyre pressure? the manual says it is 210 for front tyres and 190 for back tyres. is that enough?
2. When you stop at a slope, does hill stop assist kick start automatically? i.e it will not go backwards if you are on D gear?
3. When you stop at a slope and you want to accelerate, I notice that you need to press the pedal quite hard for it to move
4. Does persona support phone charger? If so what brand would you guys recommend?
5. Any specific phone holder that you guys can recommend? I tend to use waze a lot due to me being a new driver and i need a phone holder to hold the phone while i'm driving

Thank you in advance guys!
*
1) The manual also say that you need to take into consideration the number of passengers and the car boot load. I just pump it to 220 all round and hope the stock tyres can go botak sooner so I can tell wife, wife, tyres already botak, can change or not? smile.gif

2) When on slope, HSA kick-in when the pedal brake is pressed. I read somewhere that hand brake is not counted but I have not tried it. The car won't gostan if you press the gas pedal with 2-3 second after you released the foot brake.

3) Depend on the slope gradient.

4) The 12v socket in front of the CVT should be able to support the phone charger. Brand wise, it all depend on what the shop carried but don't buy cheap, cheap. I intend to go to Lowyat to get one.

5) Can't answer you.

Hi .. good morning/afternoon/evening/night😂

Got the persona 2 days ago. Noticed slight jerking like feel (semput2) whenever I accelerate slowly under 40km/h.

Went to kotadamansara SC. Reset reset reset
Went to Kelana Jaya SC today. Reset again.

After coming back from SC I noticed that when I put in Reverse gear the car doesn't move. Pressed the accelerator slowly still not moving. After 3 seconds jerks a little and moved. For this I suspect Hill hold assist thingy.

Went back to KJ SC immediately. As usual the guy said it's normal. You have to press the accelerator harder.

Came back with a poker face.

Now. Jerking(semput) is still there. Reverse gear problem is there too.

Bought the car for my wife. Feeling like we will be having a lot of vacations at SC😒🙃😟

Please advise and help me dear friends.

I pray that all of you who spent time reading this buy your dream car and spend quality time reading other threads. 😂✌🤗😇😆
*
You should name the car "Susanna" - this song is sang by "The Art Company".

When you spend quality time vacationing at SC, you can scream "Why me, why..., Susah-na, Susah-na, I'm crazy loving you"!

SC would understand.

I really hope Proton improves in this area. I am taking action by writing a formal complaint to Proton via official channels.
*
Kindly forward your complaint to Encik Abdul Rashid Musa, the new CEO of Proton Edar Sdn Bhd which is involved in the distribution of Proton cars and providing sales and after sales services to customers.

I read somewhere that they will be concentrating on after sales services to customers ......
