I think you didn't read properly. external HDD 2TB means the USB port can read up to 2TB hdd. I'm using 4TB on my unit without problem.
btw! you don't offer your courtesy asking for advice.

QUOTE(starz92 @ Apr 18 2017, 11:00 AM) Guys, for my first android tv box (zero experience) , do you think I should buy a RM500~RM600 box or a cheaper option like RM200~RM400 box? Mainly will use for streaming english/chinese/hongkong drama or some movie. For movie playback from so far I am quite satisfied with my Samsung 4k TV (ks7000 series) . The downside is the Samsung custom OS have quite limited apps available. I would prefer it to be a smooth device without much lag. Currently I am in between this 2 box as suggested by fellow forumers here. http://www.lazada.com.my/minix-neo-u9-h-am...71326.html?ff=1http://www.lazada.com.my/himedia-q10pro-4t...ml?ff=1&boost=1Actually tempted to get those paid ahem iptv service but their box seems low spec and I am worry of sluggish performance. thanks in advance fellow sifus buffering is very subjective. That's many factor that causes it to buffer. Not mainly due to the STB. even the low end TM white box do not buffer if the source is good.

QUOTE(starz92 @ Apr 18 2017, 11:28 AM) I understand on the buffering part what I meant is the performance of the box. I don't play games with the boxes. mainly watching movies, live streaming. So far whatever I played. that's no issue even the free white box. But the free white box can only play vid up to 1080p 60fps. The two STB you posted are far better than the white box. btw! even the paid IPTV buffer. I subscribed one and is worst than the free IPTV streaming. QUOTE(fruitie @ May 8 2017, 11:40 PM) In Korea now, one regret didn't bring my box here. I was in Jeju since yesterday and yesterday's hotel room was 60" inch Samsung TV and today's hotel is 55" Samsung as well, Korean and their patriotism. Fast Internet with big TV. But again, I won't have time to watch as well since busy sightseeing. That's what I asked you. Why you didn't bring along your box? hahahaa but if you follow tour than is hard. I love Jeju too. A very windy island. too bad now is not strawberry season. This post has been edited by OCMAX: May 9 2017, 10:37 AM

There are plenty useful apps. google is your friend.

QUOTE(voncrane @ May 23 2017, 11:45 AM) Your perception are very much locked down on the old apple TV-3 device. Those able to JB or apple 4 that has appstore are much powerful nowadays. The only down side is they hold back 4K. Other than that it can play whatever vid file format with purchase apps.

QUOTE(voncrane @ May 23 2017, 12:40 PM) Fortunately such perception is not shared worldwide. Neither is it misplaced as it is still very much a crippled device, even today.. Compared to alternatives.. To play simple mkv format (which in itself is simply a container and can be played for free out of the box on other devices), that also needs to jailbreak. Just like their PC OS, doesn't support the popular NTFS format out of the box.. With Apple everything, must jump through unneccessary hoops just to gain widely accepted formats. Have no idea how they can still keep claiming to be "innovators". Take 4K and HDR, perhaps in 2020, they'll launch the Apple TV 6 or 7 and guess what.... Their ads would be like "This is the completely new Apple TV, watch 4K videos like never before... bla bla".. .. Apple TV doesn't allow plug in HD. It designed only used NAS over Apple airport/capsule. To play these files you can used free apps from itune store but if the user want to open all the function you need to pay for the full function. Apple NAS streaming over apple devices rocks. even until now. others hard-drive streaming not even come close to what apple home network system can do. It's really smooth. Apple devices is not for everybody. Just like android TV newbie need to learn from the net what the device can do. Android TV were design what apple TV shortfall. It is understood. Actually there is no point to argue since you have negative perception on apple products. LOL This post has been edited by OCMAX: May 23 2017, 01:05 PM

QUOTE(tanckeng @ May 23 2017, 01:33 PM) To be frank If the TV you bought has 4K HDR. For sure it has the media player to play such files. Why you need to buy another box just to play these files. you can just plug in your Hard-drive into the TV USB port and click on the media players that comes with it. The TV boxes are meant for streaming. Apple selected legally. I do feel sad about your AC Ryan. hard to believed the hardware failed so easily. QUOTE(tanckeng @ May 23 2017, 02:12 PM) I dont have a 4K tv neither my TV can play any movie. It was planned since day 1 that 1 want a dummy tv, attached with either a tv box or pc. I guess everyone use it differently. I mostly use it to stream from my NAS which consist of files of all formats. So Apple probably not suitable for me. Also, Apple price come with 32GB storage which is something I don't need too. I actually impressed with it's smooth performance when i tried it at my friend place. Oh! Apple airport/capsule comes with 2TB/3TB, it also works as a Wifi network repeater/swtich. Whatever files you place in there the media players works. just that you need to know what player to used and it compatible with Windows and android. My Windows laptop/desktop, Macbook, android phones, android TV box, iphone/ipad can watch TruHD video streaming without problems.

QUOTE(voncrane @ May 23 2017, 02:30 PM) Yes yes.. Users who like to jump through hoops to perform simple functions. As for NAS streaming, bruh, it's mainly about having a healthy network. My Minix Neo U1 + a healthy network + laptop streams smooth and guess what, no hoops to jump through or required to buy/locked into more Apple devices such as the AirPort Extreme or AirPort Time Capsule.. Those ain't cheap either.. I can use my equally simple yet powerful TP-LINK router + a WD 3TB ext HD. It's as you say, it's designed for a specific market.. Just like the Chromecast or Roku. Because Kodi, gorgeous UI, media library, auto-download of subtitles and p2p HQ files with HD surround audio, moooarr power and processing abilities... Just to name a few.. Apple TV can used Kodi too lar. Illegally of cause. LOL Oh! if I'm not wrong your router don' have 5ghz wifi and don't play wifi vid streaming so well. My apple capsule are more than 6yars old and it already has 2.4 & 5ghz wifi feature back than. Th new apple airport has Giga speed wifi. Time for an upgrade, Airport HD is all in one. QUOTE(voncrane @ May 23 2017, 03:04 PM) Impossibru!.. It's the TM issued router and it does have AC 5Ghz wireless and gigabit ethernet.. PC is just one wall away.. Or yeah, having a gaming grade pc does help too.. If I wanted more features like a download master, etc.. I'd just get the Asus RT-AC55UHP or higher. All will still perform better and are far cheaper. The Apple AirPort Time Capsule with 3TB storage costs RM1800. Even after paying such, I would then have to beg it to play nice with my Windows 10 installation.. I has been using the 5ghz wifi before TM router change to 2.4/5ghz router. I can't setup like you because my two sons are using the 5Ghz wifi from the capsule to watch youtube or play online games, my wife surf ipad using it, if she goes up to the bedroom she'll watch online TV dramas from the Tv box. I'm using the capsule wifi downstairs on my laptop streaming or download and watch online TV shows. One capsule with everything running together It doesn't choke up. I'm happy with the setup for years. Windows 10 paired with airport. No problemo! This post has been edited by OCMAX: May 23 2017, 03:49 PM

QUOTE(tanckeng @ May 23 2017, 03:27 PM) Last time I only used the capsule for wifi/swtich and back-up but after I cut my Astro line. I come to aware how the capsule can in-cooperate into my home network vid streaming. It is just amazing of an 6years old+ device can do. btw! I'm not promoting apple products. Just sharing my experience on home vid streaming working together with my Android TV boxes.

QUOTE(voncrane @ May 23 2017, 04:34 PM) Yep, that's the thing.. Apple used to be a true innovator. Recent years, they've just been playing catch up. No worries, very few will be dropping RM1800 for a "glorified" NAS cum wireless router.. Is very hard after Steve.J passed away Yup! apple product are expensive to used but but they have a huge loyal die-hard fans that used their product. for example. One can travel from point A to point B with a cheapest car but people still buy the most expensive car to travel on the same road. This post has been edited by OCMAX: May 23 2017, 05:19 PM
