Samsung Tab S2 (tablet in post) is certified by Netflix to run full HD.. Also note the following..
*
...and further down in the comments...

"Im remodded that apk to force HD in non-certified device L3. Try it."

"Tq for coorperation. Yes, its clean…After i get the apk look into its. I think the apk is disable DRM Detection Level and only supported only Cert-Device L1 then im thinking how to force it to HD in level 3…Actually im re-modded the apk :-

1) To always return Detection Widevine L1 even the device is L3. Means no false (0)..always true (1)
2) To always detect Device is HD"

"new latest netflix modded apk by me normal app not leanback. This version is more clear. force to play on UltraHD http://199.175.53.21/netflixlatest.hdonly8.apk"

"Not tested on any device with L1 level..Actually modded special for L3 coz L1 still can using original apk at Playstore and can get HD or UHD depending on device, hdcp level and TV."

"Seem to work 1080p on my widevine l3 s912"

"Does anybody have an APK for an L1 Device?"

"Try that one: http://minix.com.hk/downfile/Netflix_HD.apk"

I have not tried it...no interest in Netflix...

I noticed the last apk supposedly came from Minix's servers and I wondered why it would be working and they didn't publicize it. I mean, it's a strong selling point and a lot of Minix users out there would want Netflix in full HD/UHD. So just for kicks... Went ahead to install all three apks referenced on that page (Netflix_HD.apk, netflix-hd-remodded.apk & netflixlatest.hdonly8.apk) and none could even install on the Neo U1. No surprises there.

1. Netflix grants a master key to enable HD/UHD on their target devices.
2. Netflix provides a special apk that support HD/UHD, it's not the same app on Play Store and versions differ from device to device.
3. Netflix has an internal test server for device approval testing.
4. You could easily verify this by looking at the Shield TV box.
5. If enabling/skipping DRM alone would work, Netflix do not have to provide a test server to complete hundreds of tests before enabling HD/UHD, and manufacturers don't have to contact them at all to be certified.

Summarily: Without Netflix's blessing, there is absolutely very little to zero chance to get HD/UHD on an uncertified device. Not to worry, Long-term Netflix user here and gets full 1080p with DD via smart TV's app. No additional device needed.

Thanks for testing and feedback thumbup.gif

Someone said was working on Jan 18...that was fast of Netflix patching the hacks & exploits...

Sorry to get hopes high for people.

I leave a mini review here for searchers, got a box, label is t95n mini m8s, android 6. Box is very very small, quite smooth, I bought mainly to watch videos through browser. I installed firefox + ublock extension, 1080p videos are choppy, 720p no issue. Ublock works, no annoying pop ups but the extension's settings not showing up. Later I try chrome see fullhd video play smoothly or not but chrome no adblocker. Oddly enough seller say don't use browser, he say weird things happen to customer's unit... he didn't elaborate what actually happen though. Kodi seems to work though i haven't use it long. I haven't log in google play yet.

Thanks for feedback.

Those big brand browsers try to do everything themselves biggrin.gif ...ie play videos... My experience is try to find tiny browsers that hands off video playing back to the native player...they usually play better...

Can recommend one? I tried chrome, can play smoothly but the quality feel a bit different than native player.

Also there's this weird bug on this machine, if you disable google play app auto update, next time you open google play it will give you the terms and conditions screen like you're signing in first time and the settings all reset lol.

I'm using via now...its very fast & lean...still under constant development...

There are few others too...can't recall off my head...will have to check history...

UC is good...will let you download videos you're watching...

Brought my box all the way to India. Two problems now. cry.gif

1) Bad Internet connection, I doubt I can stream any content. doh.gif

2) Plugged in HDMI cable which I brought from Malaysia, I doubt it's spoilt as I was still using it before I put in my luggage. 4 ports on the TV but none detects my box. doh.gif Tried with my laptop, also cannot detect. doh.gif

FML. Gotta talk to hotel fellows tomorrow.

If it's too slow and I cannot load content, I have to accept the fate but if HDMI ports cannot use really I can bangwall.gif here... One month plus here. cry.gif

Is there any chance that HDMI ports can be disabled on a TV?
*
Most hotel TV are special consignment...a lot of the ports don't work one...

Need to upgrade to suite then maybe... laugh.gif

this is where it can get confusing...

regular android uses PLAY STORE.

android tv uses GOOGLE PLAY STORE.

Same logo! biggrin.gif
*
My understanding...there is only one Play Store...

Google detects..."Android TV OS" - filter/display only TV certified items
Google detects..."Supported Android" - filter/display regular items as we know it on phones/tablets
Google detects..."Unknown Android" - display...this version not available/compatible/blah blah blah...

Does this means that if I get an Android TV (ex: Sony), I don't have to buy a Kodi box at all? Besides Sony, which brand has Android TV built in?
*
Wiki mentioned a few here... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_TV

My only question is... If we load all sorts of crap onto TV and crash it, can reset? I dunno, I don't have smart TV...

Right.... and hence the labeling.

Androidtv os is a subset, i think only 1/3 of the whole thing.

But it has some differences...  voice search feature, netflix 4k, youtube 4k... good stuff not available for generic androids.

Even popcorntime has a version, can do voice search! biggrin.gif

Cool 😎

...there's also Android Wear... Lol...

Good tip I did more digging, play store auto updates to the google tv version.

http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/

If you look there, my version is the [8] one. But even though i downloaded the [0] one to manually install after it installs successfully, app info is the [8] version. So I think the software replaces it with factory version(which is [0]) after everytime google play self updates.

Easy Android TV experience, local warranty... Yes. US/Aliexpress selling USD 70...not much cheaper...

But for that price you can also get 3/32GB boxes with more features...

I fixed the problem.

1. Disable the app "play store", it's 1mb in size. (This app replaces the playstore with factory version)
2. Uninstall updates for "google play store" app.
3. Download correct play store apk.
4. Turn off internet, disable google's verify apps(maybe optional).
5.Install playstore apk. (First time I try with internet on it ask to verify app halfway through install, maybe if click no when it ask might work).
6. Playstore become normal now.

I dunno why google thinks my box is google tv. It came with the google tv version of youtube, maybe manufacturer/seller made some changes. I scan with malwarebytes, came back clean. Should be ok.

Interesting review.. Kodi V17 works beautifully and with full HD Audio passthrough.  rclxms.gif Especially the part where the firmware is able to switch frame rates on Krypton as it was on Jarvis.. So hopefully, that code gets introduced to the Neo U1..

I still have to agree with his conclusion..

Don't need any of the above as yet and so will hang on to the Neo U1. Besides, rather add on the extra $40 and get the Nvidia Shield TV 2. You planning to get the Neo U9-H?  brows.gif
*
Nah...all these 4k & dtsx boxes are really overkill for my needs laugh.gif

Yup...Once you get up to USD140-160...the shield looks mighty tempting.

I have friends in the USA...have resisted so far... biggrin.gif

I AM however intrigue by the white mi box so might give that a go...
