Those free apps always buffering, not loading.. very frustrated when watching movie... Paid apps have people take care the server.. anything down.. they will service...
I can stream 3 YouTube channels & 1 TV/movie at 720p without buffering on Unifi vip5...
Google has this Android TV Launcher on play store... It won't show up using your normal android phone/box...i think you can force it to show but I lazy to try. I think it also won't push Android TV apps unless you spoof the box.
Even with spoofing, having the launcher apk alone will not an Android TV OS make.. Only a proper port can achieve that. As there are other system level apks required for a quasi-experience and apps installation.
Sure it'll need some understanding & brain work. Spoofing discussions here...
Just to share... Remote access, control & mirror of your box...
Screen shots from my phone...works over 4G. Very simple to set up
Using Teamviewer's apps.
You'll need to install the host app to the box, the remote control client app to the phone, and sign up for a free account, then set up the box ID to your phone.

I see.. Didn't try it myself either as current setup works fine. Besides, I'd rather opt for the full experience and get the Shield 2. As soon as I can convince myself to get a decent 4K TV.
Yup. Set up to do just what I need...
Getting old and impatient to tinker anymore...last time buy baby plants to grow...now buy big pots with big flowers...instant gratification
Android definitely is the champion.. Or rather Unix is.. IMO, IOS is solid and all but it's very hard for me (right now) to imagine it or any other mobile-oriented OS ever overtaking Android. Well, as long as Alphabet (Google) doesn't mess up in the future and keep pushing it's limits.
$830 per share.. IKR.. Nice analogy right there.. I'll take big and full potted plants today, but refuse to acknowledge growing old..
Growing old is mandatory... Growing up is optional
10bit video... if yr player can handle say, 1080p hevc 10 bit, 1080p tv can display. hdr video will not display on a non HDR tv even if the player can handle.
just like a 4k video will not display on a non-4k tv.
no "downgrade".
??? Pls check again...
A player that can take 4k 10bit file, will play to FHD 8 bit TV no problem...
4k will be shrunk, extra bits will be ignored.

No.... These are two completely different things. 10bit (aka Deep Color) is referring to color depth, the amount of distinct colors that can be displayed on screen. HDR refers to dynamic range: the ability to display or capture details in the darkest and lightest part of an image simultaneously. A really good TV should have both Deep Color and HDR.
RON97 + RON97 engine = RON97 + RON95 engine = Yes.. to some extent.
10 bit file...color info stored per chroma (in 4:2:2) 10 bit panel...color reproduction range per pixel HDR...panel with blacker black, whiter white, adaptive contrast, etc
