Hi sifus,

I have read the first post but I'm still confused  rclxub.gif

I have a friend that wants to watch free public TV channels all over the world, but mainly China. He has a UNIFI connection and also ASTRO. All he wants is that when he's watching to switch on the Android box and use that remote (instead of the Astro one) to watch and switch off the Android box after he's done. His other family members can then continue watching Astro.

Specific requirements:
1. Simple setup, preferably all the channels are pre-programmed into the Android Box.
2. Able to set up a few profiles e.g. 10 channels for User 1 (himself), 10 channels for User 2 (kids) etc.
3. Reliable with minimal fuss.
4. No complicated stuff like using VPN etc.

What I'm vaguely aware of is that sometimes the sources of these channels sometime change due to ahem ahem and needs to search and setup again? Is setting up and troubleshooting difficult? All he really wants is just a hassle free way to watch TV channels from other countries.

Sorry for all the questions but I myself am new at this. Maybe a top 3 recommendation would be good.  notworthy.gif

free channel is not actually free, unless the broadcaster buy the right for all their program to broadcast all over the world... eg world cup

just incase u wan to know... msia blocked it free channel outside of the country too...

if ur frenz intended to watch Chinese program legally ...
he can try subscribe iqiyi, tencent or less the famous youku.

My KM3 donated to my Sis..

Now looking for spare box again..

Must be Android TV OS
Preferably DRM L1 for Netflix
Android 9
32gb EMMC
2 USB port
Must have LAN port
Audio passthru 5.1 at least
BUDGET not above USD$50

What choices available now?
*
bro, r u sure u hang around here loooong enuf?
I lol at usd50...

the cheapest mibox s already more than that la

I think if u don't like, xiaomi...
u can go to Fire TV Cube, tomoro launching 2nd gen

or u can go-to premium route, the outdated Nvidia shield,
which I think not worth of it.

PS: non box route-> buy new TV with buildin Android TV
PS: Huawei's Himedia don't hv Widevine L1, they might hv work around... but not 4K

How to play PS3 or PS4 on Android box?

How to connect a web cam and do video call in Android box?

How long an Android box can use?..8 hours?..12 hrs?..24 hrs?..
*
u can't...
only hv ps2 PSP GameCube Wii and all other older console
and even with this outdated console, the emu u will need a real powerful one... a high spec Android device or... gaming pc

I recommend u go to YouTube and watch the performance for this kind of emu game.
if u r satisfied, then u can consider nvida shield...

anyway I recommend u go for real console for gaming.
don't waste time... unless u r into retro game

My apoloigy if this is not the right place to raise my question.

I want to connect my mobile phone to my Himedia TV box via usb and then use the mobile camera for Zoom. Tried it but I cannot get the image on the screen. Set MTP for USB transfer. What else should I do? Bought a webcam 1080p but the image is very poor, very noisy. Returned it. Thus thinking of this mobile to TV box option. Thanks.

check ur tvbox support screen mirroring or Chromecast or screenshare....

wireless all the way
no need external camera

I start surveying on Nvidia Shield non pro, the design caught my attention, and I read many great things about Dolby Atmos and Vision support from Nvidia shield, price difference isn't much compared to Zidoo and Himedia, maybe it's a wiser choice to get the Nvidia Shield? Any downside for this option?
*
the downside is...
u b playing more games instead of watching tv

I read Stadia game is also possible

Not so perfect... sweat.gif .. Did some digging and found the following..

Further, since the Dynalink Android TV Box is a rebadged Google ADT-3, it features exact same internals. Hence, it is powered by Amlogic S905Y2 chipset with 4 x Cortex A-53 cores and Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The amount of RAM (DDR3) and internal storage is 2GB and 8GB respectively. Other features of Dynalink Android TV Box include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI 2.1, MicroUSB for power input, Chromecast Built-in, and support for 4K HDR streaming as well as Dolby Audio.

Lol...You'll be hard-pressed to find aptX LL in such devices. Like boxes, all designed to be used mostly through cables (HDMI, TOSLINK, AV Port, 3.5mm jack, etc..).. At most is get latest Bluetooth version. This one is V4.2. Good thing is, unlike Google's latest chromecast, this can be powered by the TV's USB port.

Sos
Price and Netflix aside? I would still pick the Mecool over this Dynalink. That AMLogic S905Y2 SoC is actually similar to the Amlogic S905X2, but built for smaller devices like dongles. Meanwhile Amlogic S905X4 and Amlogic S908X inkambing d..

IMO, going the Nvidia Shield must have all high-end stuff. Large DV display la, DTS:X & DA audio 7.1 minimum too.. Then can really enjoice.  biggrin.gif
*
thank you.
I assume the spec will be equivalent to mibox latest box

and I come to realized the important of aptX LL,
when I'm watching action film... it is a must.
good thing normal kdrama without LL is still acceptable.

so far i haven't see anyone offer this yet

I ended getting a TX3 from shopee seller Linglang, highly recommended seller here in the forums. Eventho there r newer box in the market, tx3 has a very capable Amlogic S905X3. Only after getting my first android box, i now realize all those ads that market "10000x free channels" most is bull crap. N because of that i also realize its actually very easy to setup ur own channels, apks, apps, etc. Having said that the tx3 i bought came wit very minimal n basic apps which is a good thing. Wifi connection also very stable, i actually bought an add on lan cable just incase but ended up not using it.

PM your 10000x channel app

Rejoice y'all! 😜

HiMedia is a brand that has its operations offer audio-video solutions. This includes research and development of products that offer high tech image processing, audio and video codec, and more. The company is now planning on launching a new smart TV box that will be able to turn old TV’s at your home’s into a smart screen/TV. Notably, this smart TV box will run on the Chinese tech giant’s proprietary operating system, the HarmonyOS. In other words, another brand is featuring the OS on its platform.

no 4k when play on Kodi.

when playback my TV, it will show briefly 720 1080 or 2160 on the top right corner. that y I believe kodi doesn't have 4k

I have the MI TV P1. HDR is so so, It's decent, but won't wow you or anything.
Also I don't know what kind of apps that Xiaomi is using in the USA, but for our local DVB-T2, you won't get any adverts, at least if you are using Google's Live Channels.
*
thanx, then how about all those native apps.
is there any random ads?
coz their mobile apps ads notoriously appear everywhere

Hi guys, just got a new android tv to replace my plasma.
Gotta ask about storage expension, my philips 65PUT7906 only has usb 2.0 port it seems. I’m wondering if i add external storage to install apps etc.
Would it affect the system like making it slower in the long run or anything else to expect
*
u got many apps for android tv?
nah... most of the apps except game need large space
of coz nobody complaints bigger storage.

the only thing i think used up alot of space is the game, rom or media content {download netflix?)....
or actualy media files which u can host it in some file server.
how about router usb for media server?
