i think the error got nothing to do with dead pixel..
try reformatting your sd card..if the problem persist, buy a new micro sd card

just get from Gamer's Hideout(Cineleisure) or Kyoyagami. AFAIK only these two shop sells official Malaysian DS units, so if u have any problem u can send back to them.
