Sorry if this is not the appropriate forum for discussing car insurance.

I am selling off my car & intend to terminate the comprehensive insurance curently with NCB 55% entitlement. My insurance told me that I am entitled to some refund for the unused period. However I have to cancel my roadtax & show proof to them!

Sounds weird to me as cancellation of insurance has nothing to do with roadtax, right? I intend to let the new buyer continuing using the existing roadtax but with his new insurance.

Pls advise. Thank you!

The road tax will be cancelled once you sell ur car away once JPJ process the batal hak milik. Thereafter you can request for your refund of your car insurance premium.

OIC. Meaning the new owner has to apply/buy for a new roadtax. What document are needed to cancel my insurance? I only intend to buy a new car in a few months & I was told the NCB of 55% is valid for 1-year after cancellation of insurance. Will they issue a letter to confirm my 55% NCB, or is it this info is in the online system?

Thanks!

I don't really sell car insurance and might not know all the procedure involved so it'll be best to check with your current car insurance company on this procedure by calling their hotline.

Yes, I will call their hotline for better clarifications. Many thanks for your help!
