hi, maybe you can choose to upgrade your GE medical card to lifetime unlimited so you no need to hold two cards and less worries on insufficient medical limit. You may check with your agent on it biggrin.gif

wait.. somebody please clarify!!!!!..although i do agree that you kinda have overcovered yourself, and dropping one is a good idea but is it true you can only use one at a time? i dont think so..... lets say you got a cancer, and u used up the annual limit for one medical card, i think you can use the next card to cover after the first one reached its limit.. plus, if you get cancer or 36 c.I, you can claim from both.... wouldnt ANOTHER best option is to restructure your coverage in how u like em to be??? someone please take notice and reply

Yup, that's I suggested to upgrade Great Eastern Medical Card with min annual limit RM990,000 with lifetime Unlimited, as he holds existing GE medical card now. As someone said, no point to holding two cards if a person is currently healthy. Unless have some conditions to hold two. Select the right one and upgrade it. smile.gif

Hey guys, I need some advices here..

I have been paying a life insurance since 2009 at 3.5k for a coverage of 100k for death, total permanent disability and 36 types of illnesses.

now the coverage has increased to 120k.

I'm 35 this year. I'm thinking whether it's worthwhile to continue to pay this anymore as I have another separate medical card. in the medical card, there is a separate amount for life etc too. I'm in the midst of checking with my agent.

My friend who bought another medical card insurance later than me, have a coverage of the above as well but way cheaper and with medical benefits.

Thank you for your advice.

May I know what plan you bought in 2009? Is it a traditional critical illness plan where protection will keep increasing?

Hi guys, currently have a insurance with investment link with PRUBSN. Paying rm260/month (should be rm200/month but have loading rm60 due to BMI). Here's the breakdown:-

Life--100k
CI- 20k
R&B 200
Annual limit 66K
Life time 660k

Thinking of getting additional stand alone medical card for back up with tight budget. Came across with MEDICA 2015 by Zurich. Breakdown as below:

Annual limit 100k
Life time Unlimited
R&B 250
Around RM90/month
Guaranteed Renewal Up to 80 yo

Should i go with MEDICA 2015 or have any other best option?

Thank you.

I also agreed that to combined together to one card rather than separate to two cards, unless you have previous medical history, where there will be exclusion if upgrade or buy new card, or else better use one card with high coverage. How is your BMI now?

I subscribed to HLA's 'MedGlobal IV Plus MGIVP 150' medical card plan.

This is purely a medical card, with no investment portion.
I am paying RM780/annum (inclusive of GST), so that works out to RM65/month.
Having a look at the plan, is there a similar plans out there, offering better bang for my buck?

Yes, there is definitely have a better and higher coverage on annual limit and lifetime limit. However, the premium will be higher compares to the card currently you hold. As people said, insurance always is you get what you pay for.. most important is depends on what you concern on and what is your budget.

Exactly where I am coming from, so here's looking for similar medical cards, with better benefits, but more or less of the same premium price I am currently paying. Is there any?

Yes, our great Eastern do have standalone medical card where the annual limit is RM990,000 with lifetime no limit, coverage until age 99. If you look for lower coverage but higher than your current one, we do have too. Also lifetime no limit. May I know your age, gender and occupation?

What does 'accidental' PA means? Only to cover for accidents-related injuries?
*
Yes, personal accident is mainly covered for injury or permanent loss of body parts caused by accidents. If hospitalization due to illness, it will be not covered.

I have employer covered insurance now, makes no sense for me to buy one myself
*
Yup, you may not buy now provided
I. you stay in the same company until old age..
II. or if you leave the company, make sure get the new company provide staff medical benefit as well, with your healthy condition.
III. Your staff medical insurance is enuf coverage in case there is a claim, or else, you need to standby money for support the balance shortfall..
IV. Company policy has no change, that to cancel the medical benefits.

Now my friend unfortunately has diabetes at age 38, no medical card, rely on company medical insurance, she can't leave the company, otherwise she will have no medical coverage at all in future sad.gif therefore if have budget, better consider at least a standalone medical card for ur own.

stand alone medical card better or the bundle with investment link medical card?
*
Both have different point of view. Both benefits are same.

For standalone, you can enjoy the lower initial premium, however along the years, age increasing, the yearly premium will cost few thousand or even ten plus thousands to enjoy the single card benefit. Make sure when old age, you have enough money to pay it, especially illness cause the loss of earning power.

For investment link medical card, you are paying higher premium initially. Along the years, insurance change for medical card will also increased. You may remain the premium amount as they utilize the cash value to cover extra increments of charges. Of course, the premium may need top up if the cash value not enough to cover anymore. The rider attached Waiver Premium is what I most preferred for investment link med card. I can enjoy medical card benefit even that time I have loss my capability to work, no worry of premium.

Last, still depends on the person's financial condition and preference wink.gif

Any folks with Great Eastern here ? If I would like to perform a single premium top up of RM1000, can I just pay via M2U ? Or must I fill up some forms and go thru my agent ?
*
You need to fill up a form and you can get from your agent.

Curious,.... can medical cards be used in Government Hospitals? (When I search for their panel list, it doesn't have the Government Hospitals listed...)
*
Medical card is mainly designed for private hospital. But of course can use in GH, with pay and claim. And the waiting report done in GH may take around 1~2 months time.
