Can the bandwidth from 2.5Gbps to 5Gbps be fully used? No, I don't think so. Even the current PCI-E 16X also not being fully used up.

More bandwidth per pin is always nice, and the latency is cut in half, so that's another big improvement especially for latency sensitive devices like sound cards (one of the complaints was that pci-e had higher latency than regular old pci). GPUs are being used for so many general purpose apps now, so that extra bandwidth and lower latency cannot hurt. And if you're running a low end gpu that uses main memory, that surely helps.

Oh, u mean the technology like HyperMemory and nVIDIA's TurboCache that implement on those lower end graphic card. Ya, I agree with u in this point. nod.gif
What I mean is current PCI-E can handle cards like Geforce 8800 good enough. smile.gif

Good enough for regular graphics apps on a single card? Yes. However it's not enough for multi-gfx card solutions as we can see. Even pci-e 2.0 is probably not enough to enable truly scalable multi-card solutions. Hopefully Geneseo/pci-e 3.0 will remedy this.

Geneseo/pci-e 3.0, still in the R&D stage izit? smile.gif

We still need to seat back wait and observe. U think AMD ATI will do nothing and just let those new cards launch with such results. sweat.gif
