Hi sifus, I'm deciding between these 2 funds. Any opinions?

Affin hwang select Asia ex Japan opportunity or eastspring equity income fund.

I'd prefer something which has dividends but the affin fund doesn't have dividends.

one is a Malaysia Focused fund and the other is Asia Pacific focused fund......

both regions are good to have in the portfolio

why do you want dividend distribution? do you know that dividend distribution in unit trust is not stock dividend payout.
in unit trust, dividend distributions/unit splits does not increase the value of your money before or after the distribution....

Yeah they are both focused on different regions. Which do you think is a better region to enter now?

I plan using either one of these funds to be my core and slowly branch out to other tactical funds.

Based on Maybank's market outlook, they categorize Asia as overweight for mid to long term holdings. ohmy.gif

Opinions?

Haha, interesting opinions rclxms.gif

Just wondering, if you were given zero sales charge, would you still bite the bullet and purchase a fund or just wait it out for a better time and forgo the zero sales charge? blink.gif

Hi sifus,

I just purchased my first 2 UT fund as I managed to get 0% SC (Affin Hwang Select Asia ex Japan Opportunity & Eastspring Equity Income) @ RM1,000 each

My question is, should I continue a regular investment plan and leave the portfolio at 50/50 or is it better to be more focused onto one fund instead?

Thanks icon_question.gif

Don’t buy too much. China on the verge of collapse.
Panic button. Wait the price lower (NAV) then bargain hunting.

When's the correct time then? ohmy.gif
Very hard to time the market leh. Haha
Should I focus more on the Malaysian market then ?

many would suggest you form a portfolio of funds....which depends on your asset allocations that are reflected by your risk appetite....

That's good advice, thanks!
For now i think 2 funds which covers 2 regions should be enough as I do not want to branch out to too many and get a headache later on tongue.gif

based on the latest available fund factsheet.....
a quick and simple compilation of your % of allocation based on 50:50

you have 40% invested in Malaysia and 23.7% invested in Greater China.....by the funds....
*
Ah, interesting, yeah a more exact figure on country allocation that way. My thought is that Malaysia will be more 'stable' at least compared to other countries tongue.gif
My actual end goal is to accumulate both funds to 5k each and forget about it for a few years to let it grow. rclxms.gif

Is that a good idea? ohmy.gif

what you think?

Ah, interesting, yeah a more exact figure on country allocation that way. My thought is that Malaysia will be more 'stable' at least compared to other countries and the trade war could actually benefit an ASEAN country like Malaysia tongue.gif

well, people say unit trust is a mid term investment. just leave it there and have a look again in 2 or 3 years time.
*
Yeah agree with this. I think UT is mid to long term, 3 years or more would be ideal. I have a friend who invested AH Select Opportunity fund about 10 years ago, he just sold it for 250% profit, 25% a year, that's not bad rclxms.gif

For fast cash, I think stock trading is the way to go. tongue.gif
