Malaysian Bond Fund - A Good Diversification Tool in 2018

"Moving in 2019, investors might want to consider the long duration bond funds (Libra-AsnitaBond Fund or KAF Bond Fund) for their local bond exposure in order to capture higher term premium as the local central bank is expected to maintain status quo in 2019 monetary policy direction."

doh.gif doh.gif

Libra Asnita is not long term bond funds la..... wtf....
Its short to medium with most not all bond are near term to provide liquidity.

"Aims to provide capital preservation with regular income over the short to medium-term period by investing in Islamic money market instruments and other Shariah-approved fixed income securities."

FSM research team? LOL

DCA'ing into GEM now.... will slowly build it up to 30% of total port.

piggybacking on the smart money into EM now.
Anita & Selina to provide the stability.
GEM for the " chiong " factor!
*
ES GEM ar?

EM been rallying for past one month.
Off around 10% from the peak.

30% will it a little bit too high?

Where got fly high? It is a REITS fund lar... it does not fluctuate a lot one.
Reits is the temporary darling because of equities turmoil. Nothing is permanent and once equities come back on track, REITS will be left behind.
I refer GEM to AM Global Emerging Market fund.

If you suka Eastspring EM Fund, also ok one...

Oh one more thing, if those whose balls are more steely than others can look at CIMB Greater China fund.

I am not going in because I am exposed to China via ES Dinasti in my KWSP - MIS portfolio already.
Yes, the above is one of the very appealing thing about Asnita.

Glad that share the same thought with sifu on CN.
How your take on AxJ? Been on rally too. But current trade war and other issues yet to solve....

So is it better buy into Asnita and not CMF 2 since higher than CMF 2 when parking?

Thanks again
*
Take note on Nomura I Income.

Long term bond. Suits 2019 MY bond situation.

For me better than Asnita. As asnita majo on near term bond.

Thanks for the insight. In the end how a fund performs is based on the fund managers  sweat.gif So.. I'm just starting out. Any tips or articles you can link for a newb?
*
Start slow. I was in your shoes back then in 2016.

Don't follow blindly what we pick here.

For beginners for sure will lose money to take lessons. Haha.

I think no sifu here can deny that.

For UT, we can buy according to region. A port folio cam have core, fixed income and supp. Ratio wise is up to you. And how to react when volatility comes. And alert to market sentiment after all UT is also part of share. Up and down also here.

Pick your core. Pick your support. Pick your fixed income.

Now FSM recommended is better, they have region for you. Go there see see look look. Don't so hurry lump sump.

Take your time.

Based on my shallow knowledge in UT

If you don't mind.. How would you define core, support and fixed income?
*
For me. Because I think everyone has their own opinion on setting up a portfolio....

Core is what you think important and less volatility, that take up most of the portion .

Supplement is the one that invest in one specific region. Like one nation, one sector. For example small cap, India, China fund, tech funds. This supplement is taking less portion as it exposed to only specific area, if anything goes wrong, can be hefty.

Fixed income is like FD. They provide stability to the portfolio. But nowadays fixed income also branch out to many. Some can be having same risk as equity too. Foreign exposed? Bond? Long term bond, short term bond. Emerging markets too.

Depend on your appetites and point of interest. For me I think tech fund can go further, and tech fund and become one of my core that takes up 10% of the equity portion. While supplement for me is just 5% of the equity portion.

Hi bro. Just doing some research. If say mid this year BNM decide to hike OPR rate. Will long term bonds lose out and short term bonds rise?
*

Can't see the outcome yet... I only started to dca in.

Most of the recommended fund falls in the mentioned region are mostly -15%.

Another point is our home market.
Big cap small cap worth to in. Esp small to mid cap.

For me
20 MY
20 Aaxj
20 GC and gem combined.
20 world and tech combined.

Rest SG IN REITS FI 5 5 5 5

You combination is quit stable for a long term run... My almost all in eq exp worldwide plus 30% in Asia ex japan
*
initially was super heavy on US EU and world.

after seeing the P/E for this region. waaaa tabuli. Coming few years they will struggle for sure. But US is like pandora box. Cant predict.

asia ex jp, gem and GC is undervalued. But China tho. Also another headache.

SG is worth to watch....

3 months ago..... World equity ( Trade War ) was really BAD. PLUS .. China and US are not " looking eye to eye" on WORLD PLATFORM trade.

Now ..... World Markets are affected. And US needs the WORLD.

So ... USA are MORE likely to accept a Trade Deal ( after CHINA offered 1 trillion of Purchase of US goods ). Good for USA and CHINA .......... BUT other countries in the WORLD is going to be "shit" ..... My 2 certs only.

I know since 3 months ..Up 8% already. But if Trade Deals goes thru .... China more likely to advance than other Countries Equity.

World NEEDS CHINA more than the WORLD Think it DOES. ....
Going Back to my question..... Anyway to save on the "stupid" 1.75% service charge. ?
