If we can change our mindset and substitute the words 'red', 'market down', 'bear' with the words 'mega sales', 'buying at a discount', etc. we will all make money.

Wah, this is must be one of the most active thread in Low Yat.
I read all the posts about dropping portfolios. Out of curiosity, I logged into my FSM account which I have not done for some time. 3 different accounts, OK lah, still green, nothing to shout about, but better than FD rate.
Then I checked the managed portfolios. 2 separate accounts - Moderately Aggressive Portfolio and Aggressive Portfolio. Fuh, both dropped and are now in the negative zone.
I think the worst performer in the managed portfolio is United Japan Discovery Fund - MYR Hedged which dropped about -24%. What fund is this lah? I am sure it wasn't there when I logged in the last time.
I think the fund manager sold Nikko AM Singapore Dividend Equity Fund - MYR Class to buy the United Japan Discovery Fund.

QUOTE(puchongite @ Dec 4 2017, 05:31 PM) Your number has been distorted by distribution in United Japan. That itself is a 20% drop. But 24% drop is still a strange figure. Where does the 4% come from ? Ah...good to hear that there was a distribution in United Japan which caused the drop. I dunno where the extra 4% drop came from. Maybe my maths calculation failed.

QUOTE(xuzen @ Dec 16 2017, 09:41 PM) Seasons greetings fellow UTF particpants, It was a good year wasn't it? I think most of you who were with me for a longer time , » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « no not you jfleong, you are too noob to be in the old crowd would have made some gain this year. From Jan 17 to Nov 17 we were all laughing to the bank. If not double digit, at least a high single digit gain. Having said that, it is the time again for us fortunate ones to take note of our blessings and to give back to society. Yes, be charitable... give some back to the less fortunate... Xuzen Time flies my friend. This is the 3rd year I am reading your inspiring year end message. May you and your family be blessed with happiness, good health and wealth.

QUOTE(xuzen @ Dec 15 2018, 09:28 AM) Dear friends and fellow investors, It is that time of the year where we take some time off and reflect on our life. The fact that you can access this webpage means you have a comfortable life and some extra means because if you are a pauper, then you would not be here reading about investment since investment is all about saving that extra money for future rainy days. Hence I urge, I arouse you all to utilise the tax relief under ITA 67 Sec 44(6) to donate up to 7% of your aggregate income to a charity organization of your choice as listed in the LHDN website. There are plenty of souls who are much worse off than us and they need that some extra help. Be an angel and do your part. I have done my part, have you? I give you one Xuzen. Without fail, you will post this message every year.

Happy New Year everyone.
It is an investment year that most of us would rather forget. We may have lost the battle but we have not lost the war yet.
I am just continuing my DCA plan as per usual. ZZZ

I only buy the CIMB-Principal PRS Plus Asia Pacific Ex Japan Equity for tax deduction purpose.
RM300 x 12 months = RM3600, maxed out already.
After all (please correct me if I am wrong), we cannot withdraw it until we reach 55 years old.

QUOTE(Krv23490 @ Mar 21 2019, 03:02 PM) Me too But its 3000 right not 3600 ? The good news is an individual who makes contribution to his or her PRS funds is allowed to claim tax relief of up to RM3,000 by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia. This tax incentive is available for a period of 10 years, ending year 2021. https://www.ppa.my/prs-tax-relief/My bad. You are right. It is RM3000.

QUOTE(yklooi @ Mar 21 2019, 06:57 PM) subscription charges had already been charged during the initial buy.... liquidate now or liquidate latter does not matter as it had already been charged. it is the Portfolio Management Fee of 0.50% per annum, charged on a quarterly basis that matter....the longer you wait to liquidate the more RM they will charge you Hear! Hear! I have already sold off one of Managed Porffolio and transferred it to StashAway.
