WanMei (Perfect World) Malaysia Chinese version Open Beta has launched today. Account registration can be done now at their portal site called Cubizone

The English version is to scheduled to be launched in the middle of May 2007.

Yeap... the English version is going to be really interesting. It's gonna be tough to translate all those mob and NPC names. And don't even start on the quests. Too bad I'm banana so I can't do any quest.....

This is one game where there are sooooo many quests . Well.... just try the Chinese version to see how you like it first. The graphics are really nice . Some of the gameplay is nice but others just generic.

The best part is the character customising. Can adjust almost everything. Can even make an alien character...hahahaa.......I spent at least few hours just playing with that and had a good laugh.

And I saw in the screenshot, you can hold another player and got kissing scene somemore..... not bad.....

Hi there. This is some information that I know. This is a purely Malaysian based online game. Just not developed in Malaysia only.

As for your BT problem, maybe you can check some of this:

- If your PC is connected to a router, make sure the port that your torrent program is using is open on your router (port forwarding).
- It takes some time for initial download to start. It will start downloading a bit and gather speed as it goes.
- In your torrent program, check the setting and make sure encryption is turned on

I also heard that Download.com download will be available soon so that may be faster as it is direct full client download.

Yes...that's the scheduled date for Closed Beta. It should take 2 - 3 weeks at most for Closed Beta to Open Beta but can vary. It may just be 1 week or so. We will have to wait and see.

Make sure you guys go and register your account soon so you can get the userID that you want before all the good ones are taken.

There seems to be a contest going on now... whoever can reach level 49 during Closed Beta can get 5,000,000 in-game gold when the game goes gold.

That is correct. The Closed Beta is open to all so there is no reason for it to be unfair. You just need to download the client, register an account.

It depends on whether you'd want to play this Chinese version or wait for the English version to go live. If you still haven't joined the Closed beta for this, I would think you are waiting for the English version. Since the reward doesn't extend towards that version, there's no immediate advantage.

It depends on circumstances. This Closed Beta is open to all and they will delete all character data after the Closed Beta period ends. However, they will not do so for the Open Beta so all data remains from Open Beta to Live.

There seems to be a known problem during patching for Windows that do not have Chinese [PRC] as the default primary language. The solution is also stated on their forum.

Here's how to get around it if you have already installed:

1. Just rename the game folder to English. The default installation folder is C:\《完美世界免费版》 so just rename that to WanMei or Perfect World. The folder may appear as ?????? or some blocky taugeh words.
2. Try patching the game after renaming.
3. Remember to add East Asian languages and Chinese [PRC] in your Regional and Language settings. This can be found in your Control Panel.

Solution for new installations:

1. Add East Asian languages support and Chinese [PRC] in your Regional and Language settings. This can be found in your Control Panel.
2. During Game Installation, change the default installation folder C:\《完美世界免费版》 to an English legible one, for example C:\WanMei or C:\Perfectt World.
3. Launch the game as normal and it should patch just fine.

Bro, the options menu is at the bottom right corner. Just click on the tools icon, the one with the crossed tools and looks like an X. Then click on the PC icon to change in-game graphic settings. The GM help and Help icons are there too.

Wait for a little while longer ma. English version closed beta will hopefully start in the middle of May if there aren't any problems. I'm sure everyone is working hard to get the English version up and running soon. Besides, still need see how well the Chinese version goes first right?

So if you guys wanna see the English version out faster, support the Chinese version by playing or testing and also telling your friends about it. Don't forget to support the company that publish it.

Like most of you, I can't really read Chinese so I can't really go into the game at the moment. Anyway...it feels really enjoyable and I'll wait for the English version to really have a go at it.

The new FTP link on Download.com is slow probably because a lot of people are downloading and taking up all the download slots. That's the limitation for FTP but you can ensure download speed better than HTTP as there can be a huge number of people downloading using HTTP but will be very slow as the bandwidth is split out too much.

I guess it's back to torrent for those of you who can't download from Download.com. Or else if you can't get from your friends or download it, send your DVD request to world2@cubinet.com email.

Nice info post. Does it feel laggy if playing on the Philippines server compared to the Malaysian server? I heard the Open Beta will start at the end of the month. I'm not playing much till then.

From what I know OB will begin roughly around 27 or 28 March... could be earlier... who knows... as long as they announce it properly on the website.

The English version is scheduled to go CB only in the middle or end of May. That's the one we're all waiting for.

Yup...that seems to be the news.... Open Beta will start on 21st March 2007 at 2.00 PM. Maybe everyone can post their character names here if you decide to play the Chinese version Open Beta first.....

CB installer can be used for OB as well. When you launch there will be a small patch.

Also, here's how the SMS thing works.

The format is like this:
World2<space>CD/DVD<space>YourName<space>Mailing Address

Example:
world2 DVD RobertGan No. 123, Jalan Abu Bakar 12, Taman Indah, 58200 Kuala Lumpur

*You need to type CD if you want the CD installer (4 Discs) or DVD if you want the DVD installer. Both are the same things.

Send the request to 32300 and you will get a confirmation SMS reply. It will take a few days for the installer to reach you but you'll get a nicely printed disc and sure beats downloading.

The server is down nowwww.......... I think they're inserting the Gold from the leveling contest in CB and also gonna launch their Cubizone website.

Those who purchased the Cubicards can top-up their account and buy in-game items!!!!........... I didn't buy any Cubicard coz waiting for English version.... wakakak

Anyway...what's all those Rewards Points and Promoter stuff........Can we get nice stuff for referring people to play the game?

That's right. If you are behind a router, please do port forwarding and another thing too. Try using a different port than the default. Eg. port 6666.

To set port forwarding, login to your router and look for virtual server or port forward. Forward port 6666 both TCP and UDP to your LAN IP so all traffic on that port gets transfered to your PC.

Set torrent encryption to ON in your torrent client to improve speed.
