Just did second service

1st service         RM187.00        1100km Fully synthetic oil
2nd service RM187.00        10600km Fully synthetic oil

The staff at SC said that if choose fully synthetic oil, next service is for 10000km / 6 mths. If choose semi synthetic oil, next service is 5000km / 3mths.

Is this true or kena scam? I intended to go for semi this time but 3 months is too short a period.

Add: at what interval change air con filter?
*
For A/C cabin filter imho is a damn scam. Cause need to change every 20k km or basically every 1 year. and the price is really scammer price, RM60 for the bloody stupid filter.
But if you worried about A/C warranty, then no choice have to follow. This one you need to make your own decision, cause the A/C warranty also 3 years only. If you got confidence in your car the A/C wont have any issues in the first 3 years then you can fk SC cabin filter and buy and change yourself instead. At spare part shop or shopee the cost is like RM20 only..

dont listen to SC rubbish. that's one thing i damn hate about proton SC.. all their SC like to pedal this rubbish of 5k 3months vs 10k 6 months, and also like to upsell stupid and unnecessary shit..

Like i just kena recently, send for 20k km service 1 year old car, told me need to do A/C maintenance liao.. I fk the SA up told him what rubbish. 1 year old car you want me to do A/C servicing?? Proton quality so lousy?? Then since he know he cant bullshit me anymore, then he say ok now no need but when 30k service need to do.. I question him further, he say in maintenance book got stated 30k NEED to do A/C servicing.. When i go through back the book, "proton recommends to do a/c servicing every 30k km", its one of those list of recommended stuff to do, together with like tyre rotation etc etc.. Totally rubbish trying to tell me 30k must do A/C servicing like i would void warranty if i dont do it..

Proton SC all damn kanasai one..

Anyway, regardless of what oil you use, all are rated for 10k/ 6 months, yes even mineral. But personally i dont recommend for mineral la, myself dont have the confidence for it.

For semi-syn, 10k/6 months absolutely no issues.

source: me owner of iriz clocking 400k+ km, from start been using only semi-syn and following 10k km without any issues, and now also having this saga.
So i know damn well how Proton SC like to pattern.. If you go to COSE you wont hear this rubbish of using diff type of engine oil got different service interval nonsense.

saga vvt mc2 using Aisin gearbox right? This one cant check ATF fluid level correct?

I find this car damn not user friendly for self-maintenance/checking..

Example:
1) want check cabin filter condition cant unless you have tool to open the nut
2) want check ATF level/condition cant also

just an additional cover needs to open with 1 bolt from youtube video I saw.
*
yes 1 bolt and 2 clips.. which is kinda stupid.. so you cant check your cabin filters if you're out and about..

and not everyone have the tools for it either.. cabin filters supposed to be something easy that even women able to do it themselves effortlessly but now they cant..

god damn just now i met up with my younger sibling and wanted to help them check overall car condition like engine oil, atf fluid/brake fluid and also their cabin filter condition to see if it needs changing then found out about that absolutely stupid design and couldn't do it.. so now they need to purposely go to workshop to get it opened cause they dont have the tools..

so end up i can only check for them their engine oil and brake fluid.. so damn stupid sia.

Do you mean Proton use proprietary or non conventional screws for many parts to deter DIY?
*
bolded yes for the cabin filter.. which supposed to be one of the easiest things to DIY in a car.

But scumbags at Proton decided to put a cover and lock it using a bolt so that you need to have a socket wrench to open it..
Even regular spanner/wrench cant open it due to the way they design it..

Then they charge you RM59 for a freaking cabin filter rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif
