I think no isu with seat now since SD agreed to replace with black
So u still proceed with that tint ?
*
Installed 2 weeks back, now only realize.

Anyway if you really picky about JPJ with 70% VLT before tint, you have very little option left. Windscreen can't tint at all.

Raytech cover JPJ compound. I think most tinted brand have the same.

constant_weight how does the DCT behave in traffic jams?
*
Very smooth, no jerk at all. The only time I felt it is DCT is when braking to almost complete stop you get the clutch disengage glide like a manual car. This is if you pay careful attention.

My work place have tight multi level + very steep slope, I always get gear 2 to 1 downshift at middle of the slope. It is annoying so I always put Manual in gear 2. Still no jerk even rpm just over 1000, I'm happy.

My colleague with Fiesta cursing everyday going up.

Android Auto crashed on both the Elantra GLS and Elantra Turbo during my test drive.

Hmm

Haven't have single crash for 3 weeks using AA day in day out, I have Galaxy S7.

I noticed AA is very lag if I have poor cable either worn out loose micro USB or cheap cable (those high resistance that get very hot during charging).

Changed the old cable, perfect.

I've been using my phone in the Civic and Accord. No issues.
*
Below are my combo. Try latest AA version, other than that I don't know how to help already.

The car HU supposedly only perform dummy casting of the output from AA, all the processing still inside the phone.

Galaxy S7 Nougat. Stock ROM no root
Android Auto 2.4.7229 - July release
Android Auto 2.5.7285 - August release
Good cable

- Jun release has bug with voice activation. "Ok Google" doesn't work.
- Intermittently if I use my phone to change track, the script still showing old track name. (press multitask button then press home button to go around the AA black screen block from using phone).

Emergency release from inside of the trunk. In case you locked yourself without remote.

There is ventilation vents connected to cabin. Quiet a comfortable trunk if wife won't let you enter the house.

*
Lol, never try. Did 160+, left hand on steering, right elbow on door panel, head rest on right palm. Relax.

Don't think can hit 220 from what I read on foreign forum. Electronically limited to 215.

Bro,  do you enjoy ur ride? The power, the handling and DCT, are they awesome good?
*
No idea your standard for awesome good. Haha, maybe your expectation higher than me bro. I do enjoy driving the car.

Direct power, feels like 2.8L-3.0L NA rather than small engine turbo. Unless you in M mode, lug the engine at low rpm without downshift.

DCT is smooth both at hight speed and bumper to bumper traffic jam. No jerk, awesome. Normal and ECO mode, the DCT is very hesitate to downshift, I think same for any car. The ECU programmed for economy. Switch to Sport, you get a different car.

Sport mode stiffen up the steering quite significantly, most of the review you read pointed out this too. The change is super obvious, good for highway but probably tiring on winding road. I haven't try extensive use of Sport mode. Mostly use it during merging to highway only.

ECU also very protective when comes to DCT, no rev hold allowed. When you rev all the way to the end it auto up shift even you in M mode. Below 1700rpm - 1800rpm it won't allow you to up shift.

how's the fuel consumption on the highway, say if you cruise at 120-130km/h?

can get 15-16km per litre ahh?
*
110-120 is over 17km/l.

120-130 never try.

both are dry clutch type

jetta one supplied by borgwarner; elantra one engineered by borgwarner but build by hyundai themselves

jetta one quicker shifting

jetta one harsher and jerkier

jetta one got very consistent high risk history of mechtronic failures past 4 year mark; hyundai one not sure for the time being
*
Hyundai DCT was troubled by clutch slip issue due to software bug. It just got fixed last year. I seen people reported on forums getting fix from August 2016, but official news only came a month later.

This troubled Hyundai over course of a year with multiple firmware patches. I haven't read any new incident since end of 2016. This is one of the reasons I pulled the trigger and bought this car. So far so good, touchwood.

Hi,

Really, was expecting to be lower like around 2.2k to 2.3k rpm since it has 7 speed and stronger engine power to pull the car.

My elantra 1.6 is also at that rpm.

Is it maybe they need the gearing to be as such, so that it can still accelerate at decent pace when using the lowest gear?

Any idea or reasons?

Pls don't be intimidated by my question.

Thanks again for answering all my questions.
*
No idea. However you can refer to the spreadsheet I made.

It calculated the top speed of each gear of 7 DCT, 9 speed auto, CUT, and a old4 speed auto. Kinda give you an idea.

That's quite high for a 1.6T - maybe the gear ratio is high for quick shifting. In comparison with the Civic CVT, it's 1800rpm at 110km/h. However, you managed to achieve 17km/l even at that high rpm, so maybe it's running at an extremely lean-burn at cruise speeds.
*
Civic can do over 170km/h at 3000rpm theoretically, check out my gear ratio simulation spreadsheet. I think normally the ECU didn't go to highest possible ratio, else it would be even lower than 1800rpm.

I put Shell 97. I think the new fuel pretty good. Day and night different vs Caltex regarding to throttle response. Haven't try other fuel. I have my OCD about valve carbon build up prevention for direct injection, will stick to 97 at less until 95 get euro4m or euro5 standard.

If you're OCD about carbon buildup, the best way is to avoid frequent cold start short distance drives and heavy traffic driving. There is very little RON95 and RON97 can make a difference, as the fuel spray can't touch the intake valve regardless of the quality, the additives just can't reach there. When the valve is hot, the PCV oil fumes can't solidify, it is when it starts cooling that the fumes solidify to carbon char. When the road is clear, take the chance to tekan once in a while for the short italian tuneup. There's a saying "a WOT a day keeps the rebuild away" on engine communities....

After warranty, pay a little more to get low NOACK/TEOST engine oils. See : http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g3115.pdf

After 5 years, better change your EGR and PCV valves, the smoother the engine breathing, the lesser the chance for carbon buildup presumably.
*
I read euro4m supposed to be 10x cleaner, thinking I should get cleaner EGR, at least made me feels better phycologically. However PCV remains the biggest containmination source. Ya, I'm pushing the car hard every now and then, read statistic that GTi have least carbon build up issue among all the VW, probably GTi owners tend to drive hard.

Good sharing on the engine oil. Hyundai uses Shell Helix Ultra for 3 years free service, I can try search the similar tests.

P/S: without dr. jay the conversations so healthy. Hahaha.

Have you tried using Gear 7 on the manual DCT operation? If really gear 7 is at 2500rpm, then your gearing is short. I'm also using Shell - RON97 all the way. RON95 will be EURO4M by October 2018.
*
Auto or manual no different for DCT, the ratio is fixed. Only CVT get dynamic continuous ratio. If you want to be specific maybe 2300-2400. If is over the 2250 mark, just shy of 2500. My eyes not that precise.

The final drive 4.643 is pretty aggressive.
