As for the MyASNB portal..
I think its facing some huge traffic issues..
Since today is 1st of the month.. Many rushing to get some units so don't lose 1 month interest 😊

fix is good?

Yes buy fixed price only from ASNB. for variable pricing, there's plenty of options through FSM and eUT

ok..so, if i purchase through the asb portal, confirm the unit is fixed price unit ek bro?
*
it depends on which fund you are buying. ASW, AS1M and ASM is fixed price funds that non-bumi can buy. Buying any of this 3 is definitely fixed price.

QUOTE(stereobiru @ Mar 2 2018, 11:35 AM)
which is better, whether focus on 1 fund and then juz topup they or apply few fund and devide our investment of our unit between a funds? Just asking an opinion as now i'm only have AS1M fund..
*
if u have all 3 then can tikam 3 different places. Whether to divide or not, its solely up to your preference. Most people will chose ASW>ASM>AS1M due to ASW's record of going through 2 financial crisis.

Personally i buy all 3 cause I can tikam 3 places (it's getting harder n harder to get units nowadays) and I like to receive dividend across the year. ASM pays dividend on 31 March, ASW - 31 August and AS1M - 30 Sept. My personal preference is to maintain 50%ASM and remaining 50% in ASW and AS1M so that I get about equal dividend 2x a year

Just curious...when we say top up ASNB fund, does it matter to diversify the money into ASM, AS1M, ASW2020?
so far my portfolio -
AS1M - 59%
ASM - 15%
ASW2020- 26%

Whenever I topped up, I would try to put ASM as priority (as to make them 33.3% each) , but most of the time fail due to insufficient quota, end up I can only top up AS1M.
*
my personal preference is

ASM - 50%
ASW+AS1M - 50%

reason is can get dividend split into 2x in one year

Hi All Sifus,

Im new to ASNB and went thru this thread. So the common targeted fund for non-bumi are ASW2020, ASM, AS1M.

Correct me if am wrong below:-

1. To open up an account , i need to physically walk in any ASNB agents ? Can i do it online?

2. Is there a quota to open up these accounts? as i notice a lot of ppl keep trying few times a day and even few days and still no success

3. Is there any amount limitation that we can put in to open any of this account  ASW2020, ASM, AS1M ? Or it depend lucks and available unit?

Many thanks!!!
*
1. need to open OTC - go to ASNB branch or banks like Affin, CIMB

2. there is a quota for non-bumi and it's fully subscribed. so got to wait for ppl to sell and then you'll be able to buy the units. it took me about 1 week of my lunch time waiting at the bank to open all 3 funds. Remember that you have to buy min RM100 for each fund to be able to topup online

3. No limitation. As long as you have money and there's funds available.

Happy Trying!

THanks Savvyaunty!

1. How do we know if there is available unit to open account for that day in bank? Is it wait until your queue and you ask ? Or can we ask the bank officer there if available then we only take ticket for queue-ing?

2.Min Rm 100 and max is depend the available unit for that day right? THe quota is shared from bank itself or centrally from all bank?

3. Topup can be done online right? Since i notice there is a portal available now.
*
1. queue and ask. for a more guaranteed success, go to ASNB cause they are able to see if units are available from their side. Also, they are more willing to try endlessly for you. They even ask my mother last time if she can wait 1-2 hours while they try for her. Most banks (like Maybank) mgiht not even consider trying at all and tell u no unit straightaway.

2. shared across the fund. even if someone in Kelantan sell, anyone can buy

3. topping up online is the easiest (unless you like to wait time queuing in banks or ASNB). this is the reason I'm parking my money here.

Does this mean, ASM is not available to open anytime until 31 March?

I tried yesterday but the staff just told me, no sufficient fund to open.
*

Ok.. Ramjade. Thx for the reply. One more e.g. If i just open new account, If I deposit 2k on 1 feb, 2k on 10 feb, and 6k on 28 feb, after that withdraw 9k on 1 march. Left 1k in the account for 1 march. How the dividend will be calculated?
*
Lowest balance in Feb - 2k (dividend x 2000 x 1/12)
Lowest balance in Mar - 1k (dividend x 1000 x 1/12)

it is always harder towards the end of the month. because most ppl wants to maximize the dividend. higher chance in the beginning of the month, when most people sell. and also because lesser buyers due to lost of 1 month dividend.
*
yeah im also hoping to maximise dividend but now definitely harder than 1 year ago when i first started to invest in ASx

Im thinking of investing in AS but is there any difference between the fixed priced ones (non-bumi btw). Because if Im not wrong they are roughly the same, just depends on which one is available? The fixed ones are also relatively safe but not as safe as FD's I presume? Joining workforce real soon and definitely want to start from somewhere, this seems like a good option. smile.gif
*
minimal difference between all fixed price. in the past ASW's dividend has always been superior compared to ASM and AS1M. However, in recent years they are all about the same. Get all 3 so that you have more option to top up.

Personally I feel ASx has better returns (6% vs ~4%) and flexibility compared to FD. It has become my short term savings account due to the monthly lowest balance calculation for dividend and higher dividend rates. Unless you have more than 10K, its unlikely to get a good deal for FD. Before ASx I was stuck with 3% FD since my amount was small so no promo rates for me. But watch out for some promo like HLB where the min deposit is only 1K for ~4%

Hmmm more flexible in a sense? I know with FD you can't take it out during the period its set or you risk losing the interest given? But with ASx we could just take it out anytime without being affected? The dividend is paid yearly no?
*
Dividend is paid yearly but the calculation is based on lowest monthly balance.

Eg. top up RM500 each month (on or before 1st) for 4 months then in Month 5, you decide not to top up and withdraw 1000 (for emergency etc)

Month 1 - 500 (dividend % x 500 x 1/12)
Month 2 - 1000 (dividend % x 1000 x 1/12)
Month 3 - 1500 (dividend % x 1500 x 1/12)
Month 4 - 2000 (dividend % x 2000 x 1/12)
Month 5 - 1000 (dividend % x 1000 x 1/12)

So basically you get something every month based on your lowest balance when dividend is being paid out
