How do we know when the actual upgrades take affect? Do they contact us or just restart the router?

this is utter BS - i signed up for 30mbps unifi in dec 2016, completed installation in jan 2017 when they extended the promo till 28th feb 2017 |

I dont feel like clicking the the free upgrade button. My parents house is using VIP20 with OKU discount. Eligible for Advance 50 upgrade. When I clicked the "This is how you bill look like", I dont feel like committing. It showed the upgraded package charges with a discount. Will this discount be permanent? I really feel skeptical.
