no worries
after you get the keys you will surely meet the site supervisor
he will be hanging around.. supervising all the defect rectification,
actually when u install pump its not just the piping. the joints between leak due to higher pressure.
as for your friend, his contractor use SIRIM approved pipe but did he redo all the whole house internal piping? The house itself comes with a lot of internal water piping so if you install a pump do you want to hack and replace all the piping. Or just take your chances maybe won't leak. Also SIRIM approved doesn't mean all pipe can be used for all kind of plumbing installations. There is a rating of the pipe can withstand a certain amount of water pressure. The house water piping is built for normal use, so if you increase the water pressure, it could be out of spec and leaks start to occur.
i have been told by a builder NOT to install pump, their piping work not built for that.
so i just asked plumber to work some magic and reroute some water pipes. If you know what i mean. Even then, after i did this, many of the plumbing inlet hose start to leak. i had to fix them one by one. If i had put a pump, i dunno how much worse the leaks would have been.
Or maybe, I was just unlucky and the house was a shitty house.
sorry for the long reply. bored these days.

From my experience.... (and a few years in the civil engineering line)
Once your house gets to around 10~15 yrs old...water problem (leaks etc) will start to happen, doesnt matter if its a terrace or semi D or bungalow. The main culprit is not the water pressure... infact CONSTANT water pressure is fine.. the problem is when the water pressure alternates.. form strong then weak then strong... this constant vibration will loosen/wear out the joints (the pipe itself hardly every breaks).
That being said, I'm not taking any chances (for those of you who experienced leaks from underground piping u will know what I mean), for my next house, during reno time, I will try to relocate all my water piping externally (ofcourse hide it nicely, thats what the ID is for), for internals ones, I will install removable panels/tiles etc where the joints are. 1 time cost for a life time of headache free living...
