after close to a year of ownership, my white macbook is starting to show some brownish stains. Especially around the palmrest area and on some specific keys that i use most often (A,S,E,R and spacebar in particular)
I don't wanna treat the macbook like some polished jewel... with protection for everything etc. I actually love the 'worn look' that it gives now... like a well-worn faded pair of jeans.... Too white makes it look too brand new! Just my opinion |

Just a question but when ur finally fed up of those stains one can easily just put a skin over that white keyboard right? I thought I saw some pictures of it elsewhere and figured, perhaps there's even a white skin? *grins*
Then again, I'm just being ridiculous but well, who knows? |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Feb 26 2007, 01:26 AM) Just a question but when ur finally fed up of those stains one can easily just put a skin over that white keyboard right? I thought I saw some pictures of it elsewhere and figured, perhaps there's even a white skin? *grins* There is a white skin that fits snugly over the keys and the palm rest but i find it a real pain to type with. I've resorted to using a white eraser from my local bookshop. Its cheap and it works like a charmThen again, I'm just being ridiculous but well, who knows? xandman,
I don't want a protector for my trackpad. In fact, I'm thinking of doing away with the damn plasticky thingy that's supposedly protecting my keyboard... I'm just wondering if the trackpad's suppose to feel 'oily'... or is it just psychological? |

it's normal that the trackpad is oily. our skin secrets sebum( oil ) , that's why u can see those oil staining yr trackapd. anyway , try using some protector if u really want it to be oil free. For me , i clean it using a damp cloth though. Not really efficient , but i always try to keep my fingers as clean as possible.

rhesusv,
I don't see the oil, I *feel* the oil... And no matter how clean u keep ur fingers, there's still gonna be oil. Ok, I guess there's no solution to this 'little issue'..... |

wizardboy,
Wouldn't the damp cloth spoil the trackpad? Phat_techie, That's NOT a viable enough solution |

nope . act it won. Just make sure it's damp not WET. n according to apple , switch off yr comp 1st before doing so.
I've read that some even mix the bottle of water with some soup then dip the cloth into it. Wait till it's almost dry but wet enough to do the cleaning. give it a try. it definitely won spoil yr trackpad as i've read many ppl act use this way to clean their MB. |

tinkerbell,
it's damp not wet, my dear. it wont spoil. rhesusv explain it all. i really need to upgrade my macbook black ram. if only the macbook pro comes with 13" widescreen. damn.. i miss the 12" powerbook with good graphic card. i just passed it to my step mom n it gets hot really fast. love the size of a macbook.. but only.. only if there's macbook pro 13". |

@wizardboy & rhesusv,
Thanks for the info. I'll try it with the damp cloth when I can - and will remember to switch the MB off when I do it.... @wizardboy, Don't think there's anything we can do about your preference ... And, if u find a place who's gonna give u discount if you upgrade more RAM, give me a buzz - i'll *think* about adding an additional 1GB to mine but it's not a major issue for now *grins* |
