If you want an ultrabook instead then...

-Lenovo 710s - RM3939

Lenovo 710s PLUS-13IKB 80W3005DMJ 13.3" FHD Laptop Champagne Gold TA (I5-7200U, 8GB, 256GB, 940MX 2GB, W10P)

-Asus vivobook s15 - RM3999

Asus Vivobook S15 S510U-NBQ040T 15.6" FHD Laptop Gold (i7-7500u, 4GB, 1TB+128GB, MX150 2GB, W10H )

-Asus zenbook UX410U - RM3899

ASUS ZenBook UX410U( GOLD )/Intel Core i5-7th Gen/8GB/1TB/14" FHD/2GB NVD 940MX/Win 10/

These are good ultrabook under RM4000. Unfortunately the ssd is only available in 256GB size only. Maybe you can buy a separate external hdd instead?

Bad gaming performance We are talking about all lowest setting,1080p here, not too bad, still , that's ultrabook for you. You're not getting a 1050 at that budget.

Intel i7 8550U simply didn't exist yet sorry

in Malaysia retail market, ultrabook with i7 - 8550 U already in stock for few brand such as HP, Dell , Acer

do update your information

Should I be buying a laptop now? Or should I wait till 8th gen is widely released? Is it a huge performance bump from then7th gen?

my lil bro bought MSI GL62 the i7 version and he upgraded it + m.2 SSD.

i like the design & the keyboard, overall after a few months no problem.

the only cons for me is TN Panel instead of IPS

battery is non removeable

i5 variant around 3.5k , not sure about the warranty.

i also tempted to go for ILLEGEAR Raven but im gonna wait for Dell 7577 review first.

edit 3.2k basic spec and DOS can be found on lazada.
