1. Annual Income: RM120+K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes, or if it can be waived
3. Card required for: Airmiles and/or occasional overseas spending
4. Existing credit cards (if any): UOB PRVI Miles & Yolo, Maybank 2 cards platinum Amex, Maybank FCB, PB Visa Signature
5. Interested in CC from: Any
6. Others: Currently able to max out all cashback from FCB/Yolo/Amex. Using Prvi Miles for occasional spending when traveling overseas (once or twice long holidays a year). After checking 2019 points value, I'm thinking of canceling that card. I could use BigPay for the low conversion rate, but are there any better options I could afford? Not sure if I can manage MUVI as annual fee is pretty high and I don't think I spend enough to qualify for a waiver even if I stop using all the other cards.

QUOTE(XweienX @ Dec 18 2019, 09:28 PM) 1. Annual Income: RM36k - RM60k 2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Free or Easily Waived.3. Card required for: Primary: - Topup E-wallet (BigPay, Touch 'n Go, Boost, GrabPay) - Cashback - AIA Insurance (I am paying using BigPay now)
Secondary: - Lounge access - Online shopping4. Existing credit cards (if any): None5. Interested in CC from: Any bank6. Others: I primarily need a credit card to build credit score. Salary is estimated and will fluctuate a little bit, however, I have RM3k basic every month at least. Worked for 7 months and total salary is about RM33k.PB Quantum If you max out your cards without including insurance cost, Maybank FCB or PB AIA card may be viable extra cards. QUOTE(smallydupe @ Dec 19 2023, 03:32 PM) I am using amex premier 2 cards But now the benefits already reduced and i cut a lot of my expenses So only spend about 50k yearly and cannot meet the 80k fee waiver Any new card to recommend? Fixed spending 700 insurance, 300 condo maintenance 200 mobile and internet 200 gym 300 tng reload 80 petrol Thank you If you're looking for cashback: Mobile/internet, petrol - Amex 2 cards gold/plat, pay on weekends for CB, TNG + most autobilling - Affin Duo Visa, put the leftovers in BigPay Both cards can be maxed out at RM1k/month each. Keep the non-Amex Maybank card + the Affin Mastercard in a drawer as both are useless.

QUOTE(contestchris @ Dec 22 2023, 01:29 PM) Will the non Amex Maybank card be charged with SST? Yes, but the AMEX card pays off the RM25 lost on the second card. RM50 max cashback a month on everything except e-wallets and bills related to government, electricity, water, sewage and gas is a pretty vast scope, and can be maxed out fairly easily in spite of AMEX not being accepted by every store.

Are there any <100k annual salary cards that still offer airport lounge access, without high spending criteria requirements or unavoidable annual fees?

QUOTE(adele123 @ Jul 16 2025, 11:26 AM) Can look into hsbc visa signature or hsbc travel one. I was using hsbc VS for my recent trips. Just cancelled the card last week. No weird criteria for the lounge. Which is convenient cause i barely used the card. Travel One has an annual fee of RM300, VS RM600. According to RinggitPlus/CompareHero, waivers for VS require annual spending of RM2,000 and spend at least once a month for 12 consecutive months, T1 annual spend of RM20,000. Are call-in waivers also an option if one uses HSBC for their primary bank account? I find it strange that there's no mention on the waivers on HSBC's website. QUOTE(adele123 @ Jul 16 2025, 02:53 PM) so far waiving of the annual fee seems easy for me, last 2 to 3 years easy to waive. i got this card in Nov 2021, got few years experience. just use the app to chat will do, dont need to call if you dont like to call. but getting the offset for the RM25 service tax is harder. which is why based on my personal experience, HSBC VS seems somewhat low maintenance. not entirely WITHOUT maintenance, still manage-able. Yes, offsetting the RM25 charge is harder for pretty much every bank. That's not a big deal. I checked the fine print and it seems that there's no coverage at all for Subang or KLIA2 lounges. While Subang lounge coverage is rare for cards, KLIA2 seems weird, almost as if they removed it recently just like UOB did. Any other cards that still offer KLIA2 access?

QUOTE(LYNshop @ Jul 23 2025, 12:01 PM) anyways, does cashback benefit alot? or should just focus on points? Depends on whether you want to travel, and how much your annual expenditures are on your cards. Low spender + don't fly = better off with cashback. High spender + travel = points for air miles.

QUOTE(LYNshop @ Jul 23 2025, 12:43 PM) usually card spend around 4-6k per month. i think air miles dont really suit for the spending pattern, probably just collect points for redeeming items etc. mainly just want to change to a better daily card than the mbb manu. just saw the aeon biker looks not bad. Air miles is the only thing worth redeeming with points, IMHO. Maybe break down what you spend, and where on a monthly basis? That'll be easier to identify what cards suit you best.
