1. Annual Income: xxx

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must (or at least waiver with conditions)

3. Card required for: Cashback. Details below.

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
sorted by usage/preferrance
  1. Maybank 2 Platinum Card
  2. Public Bank Visa Signature Card
  3. CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Card (less preferred because of the cross-border fees, plus various-level-cashback which is confusing to track)
  4. Citibank Clear Card
5. Interested in CC from: VISA/MASTER only - feel free to recommend

6. Others: Please be specific.
Using credit card for Petrol, Life Insurance, Parking Fees, Utilities (Internet, TNB, Prepaid Reload), Online eCommerce/Digital Purchases, Retail Shopping, sometimes Overseas Transaction (high value during business trip - currently using AMEX during these trips @ 1.25% cash back via TP)

Currently I have (I think) enough coverage for Online Spendings. Problem is for the transactions OUTSIDE of online / dining category (i.e. shopping, retail purchases), especially high-value retail/hotel ones, which does not accept AMEX.
On normal months (i.e. no roadtax/insurance renewal, no surprise transactions), MBB AMEX + PBE VISA Signature is enough to cover my needs. However, on spike-months (be it business trip, surprise/unexpected expenses, insurance/tax renewals or vacations), I will over-cap and these two card are not sufficient for my cashback.

I'm thinking to cut down one card and re-apply something else that will 'fill the gap', and the most ideal candidate to be terminated is Citi Clear (since i barely uses it now and they charged me annual fee and refuses to waive it laugh.gif)

Any recommendations? icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

Thanks for the recommendations! Will take a look at those.

How do you recommend/fare the above options against Master - Ambank WMC ? (Unlimited PPL for 26 airports), Overseas expenses RM1 = 1 air mile point as the 4th card?

AmBank WMC is a good card and free for life. Go and apply it and also its VI version.

AmBank VISA Infinite Card /AmBank World MasterCard (Income Requirement: RM120K p.a)
• 5X AmBonus Points for overseas spend. The reward of 5X AmBonus Points is only applicable to card transactions outside Malaysia.
• All online transactions are not entitled to 5X AmBonus Points regardless the country the Cardmember is in.
• Free-For-Life, NO conditions attached
• Unlimited lounge access without condition
• Complimentary Hilton Premium Club Membership Card
(Note: Membership is automatically renewed annually with just a min retail usage of RM30,000)
• Air Miles Frequent Flyer / Travel Reward Programs (Note: 5,000 AmBonus points = 1,000 Air Miles)

the people get This Card becos it's FREE for Life with No AF +Unlimited  PPL access from Various location with No condition attached... it's more like a Pure Air-miles CC to the cardholder. As we know most the Air-miles  Earning + PPL Access Privileges  credit card may come with an Annual Fee like  more than $600 a year & with limited Choice of PPL Access.  Visa Infinite got more Perks of Privileges, Promo compare to WMC but, WMC will get better oversea conversion rate compare to VI so why not get Both cards... brows.gif icon_idea.gif  thumbsup.gif

Thanks for the inputs! Interested to proceed at the free-for-life without conditions drool.gif drool.gif

Between WMC and VI, 'better conversion rate' of WMC meaning the final amount charged (amount*exchange rates+processing fee) for outside-MYR transactions right? Seems like both has RM1=1 mile for physical overseas transaction.

actually bank doesn't reject based on number of cards, but rather based on your commitment amount.

getting 1 card entitles you x amount of credit limit.
getting both cards, if sharing the same credit limit, there is no increase in your commitment.

does that make sense?

Yes, laymank is right. If they want to approve you, they will approve both. Else, they will reject both straightway since they share same limit.

hmm.gif I see. Meaning if I have multiple cards but most of them have low utilization (approx 10% per card, since i clear payments monthly except those installments which utilizes the credit limit but only can pay monthly).

This utilization is what they're considering (as part of) the evaluation criterion right?

In that sense will consider both Ambank cards (vs the previous retail cashback options) and see which should I go with. Tempted to go with Miles card since that'll give me pretty good coverage overseas (which the spending is in adhoc spikes)

NOT the utilization, but the assigned credit limit. i.e. approved 30K limit, but only used 3K. Your total commitment is still 30k.

rclxms.gif thanks for the clarifications! Would you know what is the usual max total commitment bank will allow? (i.e. if annual is 60k, bank is OK is 15k from themselves / 60k total commitment from industry)? Or are there no such limits and it's up to bank's call?

From regulations wise seems like they only have max 2 cards for <36000/annum.

1. Annual Income: xxxx

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must with no strings / easy strings (1 swipe per month; or 12 swipes per year)

3. Card required for: AirMiles + Overseas Transactions + "Others Category" local transaction for huge one-time purchases

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
sorted by usage. Preferred cards marked with asterisks (*)
  1. (*)Maybank 2 Platinum Card
  2. (*)Public Bank Visa Signature Card
  3. (*)Public Bank Quantum Master Card
  4. (*)Maybank FCB Visa Signature Card
  5. HSBC Visa Signature Card
  6. Ambank World Master Card - used to be my favourite overseas miles card
  7. Ambank Visa Infinite Card
  8. CIMB Lazada Prepaid Card - only use for small purchases to maximise extra cashback. promo ending soon so gonna collect dust.
  9. RHB Visa Signature Card - just keeping for its CL / potential BT
  10. CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Card - just keeping for its CL / potential BT
  11. StandChart Visa Platinum Card - applied due to free gifts - waiting to past the '6~9 months' period to terminate
5. Interested in CC from: Nothing In Mind - most are either worse/on par with Ambank WMC/VI or too much strings. sad.gif

6. Others: With the Ambank WMC/VI combo being devalued on May, is there any better alternatives for miles card? M2C Premier looks the best right now but I'm not confident with its annual fee waiver requirement - don't think I can hit it unless during peak business travel years (gone down in past 18 months)
