Hi all, does wedding banquet under restaurant bills falls under dining? If so, do recommend me best CC for cashback.

1. Annual Income: -

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: -

3. Card required for: Dinning

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan (For petrol)

5. Interested in CC from: -

6. Others: Wedding banquet estimated to cost around 30k+ , Im looking for 1 off best cashback CC to utilize this.
*
For relatively large amount, look for uncapped general cashback cards. E.g. OCBC 365 (I think) which is 1% on the first 1k, 0.5% on the remainder uncapped.

Other option (if you have time and sufficient credit score to do) is multiple cards to maximize the dining bonus. But for one off probably not worth it to do that.

But this is only for online spending right?

But then it's AMEX...so can't reload TNG also sweat.gif

Even if can, MBB cards are no-no for any ewallet reload.

Hello,

I'm looking for cc to replace my daily usage on MBB Visa signature whether its not weekends for amex. all cards except MBB are given by bank along with loans, I rarely use them, and I'm not sure of their benefits.

1. Annual Income: 150k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes / xx swipes

3. Card required for: Petrol, Bills, Grocery and foods

4. Existing credit cards (if any): MBB platinum Visa/Amex, AmSignature Visa infinite, CIMB platinum business

5. Interested in CC from: Any / Public bank petron visa gold card, is it better if I mostly pump in Petron only? Roughly RM1K+ per month

6. Others: Monthly minimum spending : E-wallet reload (RM500+)Maxis (RM 300), Celcom (RM1K+)(Company bill), Grocery (RM1K+), Houses bills (RM1K+), Petrol (RM1K+)(Mostly done in Petron)
*
Stan Chart SimplyCash - minimum spend 2.5k calendar month, 15% cashback capped at RM20 (so RM133.33 spend) for 3 categories (petrol, groceries+dining, ewallet). So you can definitely get RM60 with your spend.

RHB Shell is the other one, 5% cashback (groceries/online/ewallet/utilities) capped at RM50 with minimum spend of RM2500 per statement, also 12% Shell cashback capped RM50 (separate cap). If you're willing to swap from petron to shell this will give you more than the Stan Chart card (50 + 50 potentially for 1k petrol spend).

Annual Income: 150k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Free/ depends

3. Card required for: mainly cash back

4. Existing credit cards (if any): citi bank cash back classic, Maybank Ikhwan AMEX, Affin duo cash back

5. Interested in CC from: -

6. Other:

Looking for a high offline spending cash back card that offers better than 0.2% cash back, currently using the citi bank card to offload additional expenses.
*
Many cards give 0.5% either limited or unlimited (e.g. your citi cashback I think, also OCBC 365). Maybank Barcelona I not sure if still available, but is 1% cap RM50 any spend. RHB Shell 0.5% is unlimited IIRC.

If really looking for high offline spending benefits you probably should look at points, those are mostly unlimited unlike cashback.

Thanks! Citibank cash back is 0.2%. Maybank Barcelona looks good at 1% with rm50 cap. Amex cash back gold for 1% uncapped for majority of the transactions, but got AF and i guess acceptance rate is still low(?). I have quite a handful of miscellaneous spending like service car, MC5813 related, and other offline transactions.

Is reward card worth it? If anyone did an analysis let me know. I rmb using some but I never gotten to the point where i could spend the points.
*
If you're focused on cashback (like me), then perhaps you should change mindset, instead of trying to earn cashback on those transactions, use them to unlock cashback on cards like Simply Cash card (Stan Chart, formerly JustOne). You only need to spend like RM400 or so in the correct categories (ewallet, groceries, petrol), then you use all these other expenses to hit RM2.5k spend. I think Hong Leong Wise (haven't looked at it a while) is like that as well. I use RHB Shell this way too (put it into ewallet mostly and then spend from the ewallet for your misc transaction.

Is getting credit card recommended for a fresh grad like me?
Heard a lot of nasty stories regarding CC.
My friends all encourage me to get one.

On the list of ways to decide whether to do or not do something, 'my friends all encourage me' is super low. What is your purpose and objective and knowledge?

Any sifu can recommend good credit cards?

Annual Income:  RM60K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes

3. Card required for: List all your needs. Petrol, Cash Back, eWallet, Insurance

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank Petronas Ikwan, Affin Duo Visa, Affin Duo Plus Visa

5. Interested in CC from: cimb, citi, Hong leong, maybank, public bank, rhb, HSBC, standard chartered (supported by Samsung pay), Currently Affin bank not supported

6. Others: Monthly spending: Petrol Rm175, Food Rm260, Groceries Rm160 (shop in 99speedmart, watson, mrdiy), not using grab, others(rm200-500 avg)

Is Maybank 2 Cards Amex good for use in Johor?
*
Citi cashback (non platinum). Use it for your dining (RM10 cashback), groceries (Rm10 cashback) and petrol (RM10 cashback). Even if you don't get grab cashback, that's still RM30 cashback a month (make sure to hit the RM500 minimum spend. Also your sign up bonuses for citi are normally quite attractive.

Or since they're getting acquired by UOB you can direct go to UOB One. I would go for Citi first though, eventually UOB will merge the card to UOB One I think.

But I'm earning ~Rm12 cashback from petrol
Rm50 from duo visa
Rm 20 from duo plus

Not sure I can hit the rm500 minimum
*
If you already earmark petrol spend to another card, then not really useful to list it in the template.

Put it another way, if you have citi cashback or UOB One, you should use that for petrol instead of your maybank (8%) card. You get better returns up to RM100 spend. So after reach that the rest can use maybank (for example).

But obviously if you cannot hit RM500 spend on that card then no point. Based on the spending you listed should be no problem to hit, we cannot read your mind which amount is already 'earmark' to another card.

Can consider citibank cash back or uob one (the non-platinum version). both same.

Mbb 2 gold/platinum is good too.
*
Benefit is the same, but Citi sign up bonuses via 3rd party normally much better value.

However UOB One will specify for you your cashback is from which category in their webpage statement. Citi just show total amount not breakdown.

1. Annual Income: RM100K to RM150K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No

3. Card required for: Cash Back/Rebate for Private Hospital Bill

4. Existing credit cards (if any): CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Credit Card

5. Interested in CC from: Any

6. Others: I need to pay for large private hospital bill ~RM20k. I have been using CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Credit Card and getting unlimited 0.2% cash back for all of my daily transactions. I'm looking for a better credit card that gives a higher cash back.
*
OCBC 365 would give 1% on the first 1k and 0.5% on the remainder. SCB Liverpool FC gives 0.5% uncapped (IIRC, haven't used in a while). There used to be unlimited 1% (OCBC Titanium for a while) but I think no more nowadays.

For that size transaction generally you'd get more value with those 5x/8x points card, but redeeming that value may be a hassle (easiest if you fly a lot). If strictly cashback then just look at the above two cards (or generally any cashback cards that give unlimited 0.5%, which is much better than the 0.2% that CIMB and others give).

Not uncommon to have that many cards. I myself have MBB SCB PBB UOB Citi Affin RHB. Each of which has a specific use/reward (for me is cashback, others may go for points or benefit).

So for example MBB will give 50-100 cashback (Amex and Barcelona)

SCB will give 60 (Simply, formerly JOP)

PBB will give 30-90 (Signature, PIB Master/Visa)

UOB will give 60 (YOLO, One)

Citi will give 30 (Cashback Mastercard)

Affin will give 60 (Duo Cashback)

RHB will give 50-100 (Shell Visa + petrol cashback)

Hello, please recommend for:

1. Annual Income: ~60k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Best to have, or with swipe

3. Card required for: Cashback (Ewallet reload main usage for #1 dining, #2 petrol and #3 shopping - both physical and online, #4 groceries, don't mind switching to credit card for those usage as well

4. Existing credit cards (if any): None

5. Interested in CC from: Any

6. Others: everything else

Estimated spending per month so far:
Loans ~ 1.2k
Dining ~ 1k
Petrol ~ 250
Groceries/shopping ~800-1k

Usually spend lesser but estimated extra just in case
Occasional travelling overseas, but not main concern
Not interested in reward points

First time applying credit card
Thank you!
*
UOB One Platinum

Up to RM15 cashback (10%) for petrol, dining, groceries, and grabpay wallet reload (so RM150 or more spend each) as long as you spend RM1.5k per month. So total RM60 cashback as from your spending definitely can hit all 4.

You can also consider more than one card (e.g. Maybank2Kard for the 5% weekend on dining/groceries, so additional RM50 cashback per month), but if just one card then the UOB One Platinum would be good solo.

Thank you for suggestions, is the UOB card also good if I mainly use TnGo Ewallet? Or should I change to Grab Ewallet to maximize the cashback?
*
This card has one specific category of cashback for grab, so to maximize you should use that. But that doesn't mean it must be your main ewallet (for e.g. you could reload RM150 to Grab a month, and just pay your unifi bill from grab, and all the 'normal' ewallet stuff goes from TnG).

*
8k limit for top up, to your non-transferrable quota. Transaction limit is for spend, not for top up.

hi sifus, need some advice please

TNB - 400+
Telco - 60+
Dining - 1500-2500
Petrol - 300-600
Online - no fix pattern, huge range different
Autodebit - 140+
Edu - 200-400+
ewallet - 800-1500

Already getting RHB Shell Visa. Could you suggest good ones to make best combination? Looking for those straight forward ones that don't need to calculate by category that much, so UOB One/ HLB WISE etc is not in consideration.

Thanks in advance blush.gif
*
If your spending mostly weekend or can be adjusted to weekend, Maybank2Kard 5% on the amex for weekend spend is still good. Or can check out the similar Ikhwan Amex on Maybank (this one 8% for online spend, including your telco and edu possibly, not including your ewallet).

Use affin duo cashback for the ewallet and autodebit category, 3% for 1k spend.

So far the highest uncovered area is dining, each is required daily and can't be actually shifted.. but agreed these 2 maybank amex are great ones..

So it seems affin duo is the best after 2card amex and ikhwan amex? 🤔
Thanks for your reply.. so it looks like cimb e card is out for now.
Alliance VS highest effective cash back is 1.85%, right? 🤔🤔
*
Be creative, get a card that gives cashback for ewallet reload and just use TNG/grab/setel/boost to pay.

Just canceled my PB visa signature
Have a citibank clear card that uob hasn't changed yet

My regular usage
1. Petrol for 4 cars. Usually shell
2. Shopee and lazada purchases (currently just using fpx)
3. Grab pay for food, car wash, car rides
4. Insurance (prudential and Allianz) via citibank card
5. Hong leong bank home insurance and car installments (currently just using bank transfer)
6. Car maintenance (citibank cc)

Can sifu sifu here advise what card I should get as a backup to my citibank clear (I kept it for the buy1 free 1 coffee bean drink lol)?

I would like to be able to access the premium lounges at klia or destination country when I travel also

Thx!
*
What amounts are you talking about? For smallish amounts UOB One card is pretty good (10% cashback with separate cap for petrol, grocery, grab, dining). Larger amounts try Shell (capped at RM50 12% cashback for petrol, and another RM50 for online (shopee/lazada/grabpay) as long as total spend 2.5k and above.

Very few people 'play' CC at that income level, so unlikely anyone will layan you. Most of us looking for cashback cos still work-for-people coolies.
