MENJELANG pelaksanaan pendigitalan sepenuhnya semua siaran televisyen tempatan percuma pada 1 Jun 2018, Jabatan Penyiaran Malaysia melancarkan stesen baharu dikenali sebagai TV5.

Saluran tersebut dipancarkan secara percuma dan digital yang beroperasi 24 jam itu memulakan siarannya pada 1 April 2017 sempena menyambut detik bersejarah ulang tahun penubuhan Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) ke-71.

Sumber industri bagaimanapun memaklumkan MYNEWSHUB bahawa saluran itu sebenarnya merupakan penjenamaan semula kepada stesen asalnya dikenali sebagai TVi yang dilancarkan pada 10 April 2011 lalu.

Namun apa yang menariknya, TV5 juga dapat diterima secara percuma ke udara atau Free-To-Air dalam format Digital Video Broadcasting Second Generation Terrestrial (DVB T2) menerusi antena jenis tetulang ikan biasa.

Penonton hanya perlu menyambung kepada set dekoder MYTV Broadcasting yang sudah pun mula dijual di seluruh negara sejak bulan lalu pada harga RM318, termasuk enam peratus cukai barangan dan perkhidmatan (GST).



Menggunakan slogan ‘Inspirasiku’, stesen ini juga dapat ditonton pelanggan perkhidmatan satelit berbayar Astro dan NJoi di saluran 109 selepas dipindahkan daripada asalnya 180, manakala menerusi MYTV pula di saluran 110.

TV5 dari segi sejarah bermula pada 2000 dengan nama RTMi sebagai siaran ujian untuk projek pendigitalan RTM, sekali gus menyaksikan semua stesen televisyen tidak lagi menggunakan frekuensi analog mulai tahun depan.

Ia pernah dijenamakan kepada Muzik Aktif pada 2009 sebelum TVi dua tahun kemudian. Melalui projek itu, TV1 dan TV2 juga bakal beralih kepada HD (High Definition) daripada SD (Standard Definition) mulai September ini.

Sumber memaklumkan bahawa, RTM turut dijangka memperkenalkan beberapa lagi saluran baharu berdasarkan kepada format tema tertentu apabila operasi gelombang analog dipadam sepenuhnya menjelang Jun tahun depan.

Difahamkan menerusi inisiatif projek pendigitalan penyiaran nasional, penonton di seluruh negara bakal menikmati sebanyak 80 saluran televisyen dan 40 saluran radio teresterial dengan kualiti digital. – Mynewshub.cc/HAA

Within AG’s 71 channels are three channels that are exclusive to the service which included Aniplus, Comedy Central Asia, and K-PLUS. These three channels will eventually make their way to subscribers’ TV screen although the company didn’t reveal the actual date for it to happen.

Meanwhile, there are still free contents that NJOI and non-Astro customers able to enjoy through AG app and website although they are nowhere near the amount that Astro customers able to enjoy. That being said, Swee Lin has stated in its response to our enquiry during Q&A session at yesterday’s launch event that the company will have special announcement for NJOI customers later in May

"Operationally, Astro net add was 303,000 subscribers in FY17 with 386,000 NJOI subscribers and termination of 83,000 pay-TV accounts."

The subscriber growth is on NJOI, not paid subscription. This may explain why Astro won't add new channels anytime soon.

1 thing I'm going to praise Astro is that finally, they have the EPG for the GoAsean channel (737). I kinda like that channel before but it didn't have a dedicated EPG. Happy it does now.

Also, KBS World is added on Go...#391 version.
