QUOTE(Perakpower @ Jul 5 2022, 12:18 PM) No, that totally makes sense. Inlfation is controlled, so a small step up is enough. If inflation would be out of control we would talk about a 5.0 % interest hike, not a 0.5. Tbh I'm not sure if it's considered to be truly under control if it's all dependent on govt subsidies tho, especially when you account for the fact that we had the chicken supply fiasco due to govt's intervention in placing a ceiling price. Feels like a battle between a bandaid for the short term vs tackling it harder for the long term, but ofc it's not easy to strike a balance given our relatively fragile economy as it is now. Anyhow, is HLB really giving out 3% for FD tenures of 12 months? I thought it's only 2.9% for 1 year and 3% for 1.5 years with a minimum of RM10k placement. Or is there a different promo from what is shown here?

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jul 6 2022, 05:24 PM) Wow, that is quick. 3.2% is Need to check T&C further if it is simple FD. Ambank likes to tie with CASA. Oh wow, are there any minimum balance requirements for the 12 months tenure one?

QUOTE(McMatt @ Jul 8 2022, 12:36 PM) Frankly, I don't see how much one stands to gain, or lose by doing so. Using Affin as an example : 3 Months 2.48% 6 Months 2.73% 9 Months 2.75% 12 Months 3.05% If one opts for even 6 months, you will get 2.73% pa, instead of 3.05%. Now, if in 6 months time you renewal is due and OPR goes up, you again opt for 6 mths at, maybe 2.9% instead of maybe 12 mths 3.2% because there may be yet another hike in OPR. In that sense, you would never be able to opt for the maximum promo % percentage. At the end of it, 2.73% + 2.9%, your average 12 mths would be only about 2.81%, instead of one shot 3.05% based on Affin. Don't make sense. For me, most of my funds are minimum 6-12 mths FD. I have smaller sums in shorter duration FD for just n case rainy days. Thanks for sharing! I can't seem to find a lot of information on Affin's FD, so is there any min deposit amount for the rates you shared? The rates look similar to stashaway simple and kdi save, but the difference is you can enjoy 2.5-3.2% without any lock up period. So if Affin doesn't have any min requirements then I might consider looking into it... otherwise it doesn't feel as lucrative as stashaway and kdi

QUOTE(oldkiasu @ Aug 11 2022, 11:16 AM) 1m 2.30 % (1.000) 3m 2.65 % (1.152..) 6m 2.80 % (1.217..) 6m 2.93 % (1.273..) 9m 2.90 % (1.260..) 12m 3.30 % (1.434..) 18m 3.30 % (1.434..) 24m 3.30 % (1.434..) Help me look for any better than above. You can consider opening an acc on stashaway instead since they currently have a promo for new users to earn up to 3% on their cash management portfolio, which is basically very similar to FD but without lock up period and min deposit amount. Easier to open acc compared to banks as well

QUOTE(Afterburner1.0 @ Aug 11 2022, 03:13 PM) Yeah it is, but personally it's not an issue for me since most of my money are invested in higher risk vehicles anyway. Doesn't make sense to hoard too much cash beyond what I need for the short term, just a food for thought since it's good to invest when markets are still quite down
