I went to 2 ambank branch, with 50k for 5 years both quoted me 4.32%

if you are getting lesser then you should stop visitting that branch.

For me I feel just dumping some money into a 5 year FD saves so much hassle and since AmBank is giving a rather acceptable rate , no harm investing .

same, just let it sleep there rather than running around every year.

Hi bearbear, that's an attractive rate
May I know which branches you went to?

kepong (near wai sek gai)

rawang

at rawang they even show me their internal doc with list of tenure & rate.

but they are very particular with "fresh fund", if you withdraw cash fron your ambank acc they cannot process the FD until the next day. at kepong they willing to let me utilize my fund in my saving for FD provided I top up at least 30%

But isn't the 5 years tenure a too long lock in period? But that is just me. I prefer one year fds so that we could weigh our options again and switch to other better deals (if there is any). But that is uo ti individual preferences.

no one can tell if you will win or lose until the tenure ends. To "renew" my expired fd I have to spend 2-3 hours running around thus decided to just lock in and worry about it later.

it is very common they play with words.

you want long term, better dump your money into EPF.
