for the Hong Leong one, since it says fresh fund.. can I transfer out my money from Hong Leong to another bank, then transfer back to Hong Leong to get the 4.15% p.a. ? Since it requires fresh funds...  hmm.gif

Yes you can. Technically, you don't have to transfer the money back to Hong Leong. Just start a new placement, then "pay" for the placement using fpx, like making online payment.

this is a confusing/misleading step-up FD. always from PBB.

read the 1st line of the T&C. the effective rate is stated. use this effective rate to calculate your expected return. no need to trouble yourself to calculate EACH step-up month.
*
It's not that confusing... Just need to really understand it. Plus, step up FD means you get the interest earlier rather than at the end. So the actual effective rate is slightly higher due to time value of money

Are you sure they reinvest the monthly interest into the principal? I lazy to read that esp from.public bank. The effective interest should be final.

Many older people or younger people who are not good in maths will be lured to buy this. I think that is quite unfair.
*
No they don't. But you can immediately invest or use the money ma.

I'm here now at CIMB, 4.3% pa 12mth. Unfixed FD.

Still blur on the terms of Unfixed.

Anyone could enlighten me ?

Is there better place to go ?

FF 10~20k only
*
If I am not wrong, unfixed deposit allows you, after a certain period, to prematurely withdraw a portion of the deposit (multiples of RM1,000) without affecting the accrued interest of the remaining fixed deposit.

So, if you placed RM20k and after maybe 6 months, you decide that you need to withdraw RM1K, you only forfeited the interest of the RM1k. The rest of RM19k keeps all of the interest earned in the 6 months and still continue earning the 4.3%.

In terms of the rate, 4.3% is considered quite a good rate for 12 months.

Need to keep trying the link. Sometimes, it will say Page is missing or something similar. Keep pasting the 1st link until the page prompts you for your CIMB login details

Guys, I just did 2 FPX transactions to place e-FD for HLB 6 mths 3.9% promo. The first one was successful but the second one status is "accepted for processing" and it is not reflected in my FD account. I thought FPX is instant, anyone have experienced this before?
