QUOTE(MUM @ Oct 7 2019, 11:10 AM)
according to this...
"Lower interest rates make it cheaper to borrow.
This tends to encourage spending and investment.
This leads to higher aggregate demand (AD) and economic growth.
This increase in AD may also cause inflationary pressures.

In theory, lower interest rates will:
Reduce the incentive to save. Lower interest rates give a smaller return from saving. This lower incentive to save will encourage consumers to spend rather than hold onto money.

p1 is interest paid monthly. If effective date is 24 May, then interest creditted into your named casa account on 24 June, 24 July etc.
p0 is payment of interest on maturity.
p3 is payment of interest every 3 months.
p6 is payment of interest every 6 months.
p01 is payment of interest at maturity or monthly up to your choice.
*
How do we know the P method other than specifically asking the banker?

Please add on:-

Current FD Promo as at 17 Oct 2019:

HLB eFD 6 months 3.9%

MBSB CASA bundle 6 months 75:25. Effective rate is 4.25% (Min 30k)

Kuwait Finance House (KFH)  4% 12 months
*
Im assuming effective rate what i will get out of the 75:25 total right?

Means if 100K (75K:25K) i will get 4.25% which is higher than 100K at 3.9% HLB is that right?

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Oct 18 2019, 01:17 PM)
DECENT FLYER AND INFO FOR MBSB 5.5% PRIMEVALUE CAMPAIGN BUT HOW ABOUT SOME NITTY GRITTY FEEDBACK?

Thanks for the link and pix of the MBSB promo.

Noted that start of campaign on pix is 10 October and end on 31 December 2019.
Was told on 10 Oct that start later on 15 Oct (as mentioned in Q&A in the MBSB website link).
Anybody actually managed to place in the 5 regions, North, Central, South, East Coast, East Malaysia yet? Any delay in starting?

MBSB  have a PrimeWin CASA-i campaign from 24 April 2019 to 30 April 2020. The existing flyer was minimum RM 100 in SA-i and RM 1000 in CA-i. Don't quite know how this works out when they stick the FD promo to it as a bundle as it affects the 4.25% Effective Rate calculation. If ignore the CASA-i part, then 5.5 x 75/100 = 4.125%.

While it is clear that 5.5% is for the FD part at p0m6 at 75 FD. The 25 CASA-i at 0.5% portion locked in for the 6 months needs to be clarified for the SA-i and CA-i portions..
The FD part is paid on maturity but the SA-i profit probably is posted on the end of each calendar month and probably not on monthly periods of the date of FD placement. All this not yet experienced at MBSB for this promo and has some possible effect at maturity.

Anyway for the PIDM crowd, this is still the top deal although the minimum of 30k instead of the normal 10k may be a problem for those with less available money.

As usual cannot do early withdrawal without losing out the FD profit and maybe the CASA-i profit. However how the tiny profit on the
monthly CASA-i profit is considered - no penalty or what? is still to be clarified.
*
I guess even at 4.125% is still currently the best.
I will be going there soon as my current FD maturity on 23 Nov.

QUOTE(superduperodua @ Oct 18 2019, 01:18 PM)
You guys careful with UOB , just now i was not allowed to withdraw my FD because the officers says i need a reason cos the amount is more than rm25k. They only allow me to be credited into my savings account. Uob = penipu scammer bank..

Got such thing meh ??? I hav no problem withdrawing from hsbc , sc , boc before
*
Why dont just credit into savings then withdraw/transfer?

Today matured. They keep asking for reasons why i need that money for. Each time i reply they reject. Fuyoh. Scary like about to die.
I dunno. I thought should be hassle free from my experience with other banks , but this one really fuyoh. Makes me panic only.
*
I believe the reason is front desk cashier does not carry that much cash with them, even they do, they need to get superior approval for huge sum like this.
So its much easier to just credit into savings account no need supervisor approval.

I have a few placements maturing next week. Will place the eFD than.

No issues receiving OTP when registering for AffinSecure. Might be an issue with your telco.
*
Affin screw up my account(s) lol.

I went to open joint FD on Aug and opted for non-physical debit card for the savings account (so will not have annual fee charges) and my spouse told me registered the online banking account d after few days.

Then 1 month later my spouse forgotten the login id/password and i needed to have a physical debit card so i went to open a sole savings account (the pic says can have separate login) so while i was there i ask them to reset the joint account and was given another non-physical debit card to register again.

So i went home and ask my spouse to register the joint savings account again and after done we noticed it was linked to my sole savings account instead.

Sure does seem like the case. Most unfortunate because Affin usually offers one of the best rates during promo. Dilemma whether to wait further or place with eFD @3.9%

MBSB 4.25% not good? Min 30K though

The effective rate is good. But I prefer pure FD instead of CASA bundle.

Mind to share why?

I understand if its a "main" banking account then it could be confusing about how much money should be maintained in the CASA..
But since this is MBSB which i believe its not one of the "popular" banking for most ppl..

Slightly OOT abit...

MBSB Bank is quite troublesome..So i mistakenly transferred money using IBG instead of IBFT yesterday so they said have to wait until today go again to place the FD.

So i just went there and i didnt bring the passbook (YES! they are still using passbook wtf) and they say cant debit account without passbook. GOSH what if i lost the passbook?

And then i brought home the forms yesterday so i could fill-up at home and they said cannot use blue ink.
Dafuq is that a common practice must use black ink?
Anyway luckily the staff is helpful and she helped me to fill-up new form. I was playing phone didnt noticed she was helping to fill-up the form.

Quite the experience you are experiencing with MBSB there. Although their 4.25% effective rate is tempting but I still have my skepticism. Hope all goes well after this for you.
*
Well actually my own fault for all 3 mistakes just that dont understand they still so "old school".

Luckily MBSB branch is just opposite my office so i can go anytime, and best of all there are no customer so u get served almost immediately.
That is the reason i choose MBSB opposed to KFH that is having almost same rate @ 4%
