I just put in fresh funds into the Bank Rakyat 2.75% @ 11 mths promo. They are ending it earlier than 15 Sept due to receiving more than enough for their target quota...
However, this BR fd is a bit different as it is not covered by PIDM. However, the staff told me the principle will be protected; not the interest...hmmm
One other thing is, the maturity date is important, as the staff did not seem keen to say that we can easily withdraw our money after maturity - I suspect if we miss the date and wanted to withdraw afterwards, there will be some kind of penalty.
Can anyone confirm that about the principal withdrawal on the maturity date?

Which is the best rate now guys? Ambank?
But it seems they have some FPX money transfer issues and will earmark 10% in CASA right?
So their effective rate is only, what? 2.25%?
What other banks offer good rates and are more reliable?

QUOTE(LoTek @ Apr 14 2021, 02:19 PM) I did ambank 2.5% yesterday no issue. But did they require 10% earmark for CASA? Meaning the effective rate is not 2.5%? This post has been edited by Hobbez: Apr 14 2021, 02:23 PM

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Apr 14 2021, 02:28 PM) No earmark on my CASA, effective rate is still 2.5%. Anyway, the funds for the FD was obtained directly from external bank accounts via FPX & no local bank account was specified. QUOTE(mcr342 @ Apr 14 2021, 02:29 PM) No earmark, if u want to place the fd otc, branch need to see u got at least 10k in casa then they will help you to do. This is their practice for higher fd rates that open for priority customer only, maybe now i think they open for all customer due to this is promotion. U just need to let then see u got 10k there, then after the placement they dont care edy, u pandai pandai knw what to do la If using efd, no 10k requirement. I'm confused. AFAIK, Ambank ardy have this policy since at least last year to allocate 10% for CASA for all its FD programs. I have no Ambank accounts. New. So for my case how?

BTW, why is everyone talking like Ambank is the best and only FD choice?
Hong Leong is giving a good rate for 6 months, although got 10% earmark. 2.55%
And 3.6% rate if apply for their credit card combo (1.6% FD and 2% into CC). The only condition is to spend RM200+ per month for 6 months. This is like a cash rebate....

Is that true?

QUOTE(mcr342 @ Apr 16 2021, 01:57 PM) I calculated roughly, meaning effective rate 2.32% after earmark in casa? Maybe so, but the difference is 6 vs 9 mths. For some people like me, time is a factor. Previously I favored 12 mths or more, but that was before Covid... Now it seems not many banks are giving 6 mths with good rate.

QUOTE(alvinfks78 @ Apr 16 2021, 02:38 PM) HLB 6 months earmark 10% is it FD OTC or online exclusive? Not sure about OTC or online. But HLB is an option for those wanting 6 mths only.

Why no one interested in HLB 3.6% for 6 months?
But limit is RM50k and 2% goes into credit card like cashback.

QUOTE(chamelion @ Apr 24 2021, 02:02 PM) It is under which offer? I saw 2.35% only. I also don't know, but they are promoting this at their branches. I'm just curious if anyone did sign up for it.... This post has been edited by Hobbez: Apr 24 2021, 02:44 PM
