Seems there is quite a number of interest for the 2 yrs 2.85% while the 18 mths 2.7% is seen not as attractive hmm.gif

At the Ambank FD cert placed last year, there is a clause stating that the effective date is after the cheque is cleared. I don't recall this is imposed when I brought in fund from banker's cheque / cashier order. Anyone with recent experience?

Rentas is still not in after 2 hrs. To check the status, should I check with bank A or bank B? Rentas from A to B.

Keep checking with B if $ is in.
If ask A, they will say...sudah buat..u tunggu aje lah.

From my last few months' rentas, transactions made before 11.30 am, average time arrival at B is 3.30 pm.
Once, it arrived 4.30pm after banking hours

A said will get between 12 pm to 2 pm .

Unless FD effectivel date needs cheque to be cleared , better to issue personal cheque or banker's cheque

Found out it's Ambank system error. Just received notification that it has arrived at OCBC. Okla, as long I can make the cut of time. Else lose 3 days due to weekend.

I’ll be doing the same tomorrow. Transfer out matured eFD and then OTC placement via instant transfer.

Hi may i ask which branch u go to? The bm there suggest to rentas out and bring back cheque?
*
I was advised that placement via instant transfer to CASA requires HQ approval for promotional rate.

add: Rentas/cash may face same situation as above.

Hi guys,

Just went to AMbank with a new personal cheque and effective FD date is today, 2 years 2.85% paid half yearly interest. Please note one cheque to be split xx FD and 10k CASA which I can withdraw once cheque cleared. Meaning Fri I have to go down to withdraw the 10k.

Now I might just buy some AMBank shares in hope they will get bought up soon... LOL.
*
The 10k is not already inside CASA? Else you can withdraw on the same day.

That's the point I am trying to make. One cheque and they will split for you, no need 2 cheques or money already in CASA. CASA less than 100rm currently. I never bother to ask for more % since my amount not small. Check with the BM before you go down, because this method might be branch specific.
*
Ah I see. I transferred 10k directly to CASA while the rest into cashier order. Hence can withdraw on the same day.

At its meeting today, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Bank Negara Malaysia decided to maintain the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) at 1.75 percent.

I placed all my Ambanks at 15 mth despite earlier reservation to place at 9 mth due to possibility of an increased in OPR. Lucky decision i guess.

Last week I placed at AmBank 9 mth FD. This week wanted to do the same, but due to FPX problem, put at HL TIAi 6 mths.

It seems OPR increase may not be that soon down the road ??
*
Seems so. BNM seems to be cautious and not likely to make any change when there is uncertainties.

I will be moving out some fund from BR as there is no promo for quite some time and their base rate is no longer attractive. Now I hope Ambank don't end their promo prematurely.

Deposited AMBANK today,

2.85% for 24 months, 10K in CASA. MUST OPEN SAVINGS ACC for monthly crediting of interest. *Cannot opt for collection of interest at maturity. Paid RM12 for a compulsory debit card.

*apparently applies to all who wants the promo rate below (dunno the staff there bluff me or not tongue.gif)

9m-2.5%

18m-2.7%

24m - 2.85%
*
Just in case if you are not aware, the 10k in CASA is not earmarked. You can withdraw it if you want.

Also, you could open a BSA with no fee if you don't want a debit card or do online banking.

18 months rate is slightly higher than Ambank. Have FD maturing on the 17th, will check if can renew at this rate.

Just click the report button.

Back to FD, still no announcement of the FD promo by BR. However, their FB is teasing on something sweet to be announced on Monday. Probably that's it.
