QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Jan 14 2019, 08:57 PM) Normal staff shy or don't know. Maybe you have to go to special room for the rich before they say anything or if they try to make you Privilege (50-250k), Premier > 250k), or Private customer. last time Maybank used to have 5 months, 4.00% in Nov 2018.Anyway the rates are so poor, I don't understand why anyone would bother to transfer to Maybank for this kind of rate. Previously when they had competitive GIA rates, no problem going big for Maybank. But after that, bye-bye. Bye Bye Maybank, all money out, left RM 1.00 AM bank 4.4% 12 months |

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Jan 16 2019, 06:38 PM) EFFECTIVE RATES METHOD - HOW TO and EXAMPLES Thanks a lot!You can use the usual effective rate method if not interested in exact answer Ratio 3 FD:1 SA Make it easy for calculation, 75,000 in FD at 5% for 3 months get RM 937.50. 25,000 in SA for 3 months. Total sum 100,000 locked for 3 months. Alliance Bank have a number of different Savings Accounts with different rates, when credit or reward for incremental deposit (refer to their website and telephone if interested) For example, just taking their lowest rates for their various tiers. Normal Savings Account will be at 0.1% up to 50k, interest creditted half yearly. BSA at 0.25% up to 30k. Senior Savings at 0.35% up to 50k. My eSaving at 0.65% up to 50k. Interest creditted monthly. with 3% reward for monthly deposit scheme. Thus Normal Savings - get 6.25. Total 943.75 which is 943.75 /100,000 x 12 / 3 =3.775%. BSA - get 15.62. Total 953.12 which is 953.12 /100,000 x 12/3= 3,812%. Senior - get 21.87. Total 959.37 which is 959.37 /100,000 x 12/3 = 3.837%. My eSavings - get 40.62. Total 978.12 which is 978.12 /100,000 x 12/3 = 3.912%. I have not placed any Alliance FD recently and not sure whether they had changed from old style monthly calculation to number of Interest Bearing Days (IBD) calculation. For those interested in this every Friday in January 2019 promotion, there are only 90 IBD if Alliance had changed their way. That means, get less than above calculated examples but the prorated effective rate for a year is still like above. I can understand now! Thanks once again |

QUOTE(lamode @ Jan 17 2019, 01:35 AM) thanks for sharing the update n congrats on getting the what you should have. you mean they re-calculate and pay you?sometimes it’s not about the amount, but the principle that matters, big organization like this should have better SOPs instead of taking advantages of their customers, esp those lack of info or feeling not worth the time to “fight” for it. do they allow do that? i tot system printed cannot change |

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Jan 20 2019, 07:54 PM) loongzai2 AM bank stated in official website and is eFD with promotion code.Don't waste your time hoping to see such promos in websites of CIMB, Ambank or Maybank. Sometimes come and go in a week, or only at some branches. For the CIMB, it may be changed or maintained anytime next week. Call your branch. Or see whether anyone post which branch still running it on which day (but the next day may suddenly stop). Suppose to be correct. |

Can anyone share the formular to calculate the interest earned?
https://www.calculator.com.my/savings-calcu...or#.XEzXr1z7RPY seemed not very accurate let say RM 10,000. 4.2%, 11 months 10,000 * !4.2 / 100 ) * (11 /12) = RM 385 --> is this correct? |
